Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 1139: Chapter 1152: A Person Lacking Romance

It’s not hard to guess; as the leading figure among the Five Young Masters of the Imperial and the head of the Gu Family, the young, talented, and outstanding President is someone whom every unmarried socialite in the Imperial City yearns to become the rightful Mrs. Gu.

Li Meihua has grasped this mentality of those women, and over the years, countless women have sought connections with the President through her, some even flattering Li Meihua just to get close to the President.

Gu Haoyu was so fed up with this cousin that he instructed the receptionist to not allow Li Meihua into his office without his permission.

The lady in front of her, despite her ordinary attire, exuded a friendly aura; her neatly cut short hair and delicate features made her seem like a formidable woman in the business world when she first entered the room.

However, when she started speaking, her affable manner was as refreshing as a spring breeze, instantly increasing Lili’s favor for Lin Ruonan.

Lin Ruonan nodded with a smile and followed her into the reception room.

Lili poured three glasses of water for them.

Xu Jiajia frowned as she looked at the plain water before her, ”Is this how your Gu Family treats guests? No coffee or juice?”

Lili paused in her attempt to hand Lin Ruonan a glass of water, then apologized to Lin Ruonan, ”What would the lady prefer to drink?”

Lin Ruonan took the glass of plain water from her hand, ”This is fine for me.”

Li Meihua casually waved her hand, ”Go get two cups of coffee. Make sure they’re freshly ground; I never drink instant coffee.”

”I’m sorry, Ms. Li, but the company only provides instant coffee.” Lili stood up straight and responded formally.

Li Meihua was momentarily taken aback, then waved her hand at Lili, ”Alright, alright, instant will do.”

Then she turned to Xu Jiajia and said, ”Oh, my cousin is just like that—so busy with work, managing such a large company at such a young age, without a woman to take care of him. Inevitably, his life lacks some romance. Just look at coffee; while instant coffee is convenient and ready with some water, it can’t match the pure taste of freshly ground coffee. You can only savor its true essence when it’s ground bit by bit.”

Lin Ruonan calmly picked up the water cup and took a small sip of the plain water.

People may not know, but Gu Haoyu lacking romance in life? She wouldn’t believe that even if beaten to death.

Would someone lacking romance busy himself in the kitchen with an apron on early in the morning, just to personally prepare a delicious breakfast?

Would someone lacking romance research recipes all afternoon just to pan-fry a filet steak with a pairing of red wine and rose?

Would someone lacking romance play melodious saxophone music at night with warm lighting...?

Lin Ruonan shook her head again; what’s gotten into her? Even after so much time has passed, that night’s scene keeps appearing in her mind, especially whenever she thinks of that man, that image resurfaces time and again, making it impossible for her to ignore.

”Sister-in-law, I know what you mean. You’re suggesting that although Brother Gu is already engaged, his engagement is akin to instant coffee. While you brought me to meet Brother Gu to become like freshly ground coffee, right?” Xu Jiajia fiddled with her phone, crossing her legs in an unseemly manner.

”Yes, that’s exactly it. I’ve looked into it. Haoyu might be engaged to the Lin Family’s daughter, but they haven’t seen each other since the engagement day. I suspect his father wants to consolidate power through this marriage, but he doesn’t realize that those in politics or military have little regard for us businessmen.”
