Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 391: Chapter 261: Bad News—The ”Death” of Mother and Nie Fengxing

The conflict between humans and Spiritual Beasts has always existed in ancient times.

Spiritual Beasts eat humans to satisfy their hunger.

Humans kill Spiritual Beasts for cultivation and to attain spirit cores.

This has been the case for thousands of years, and the beast upheaval on the Xixia Plain of Daxia is born from this.

Yet the beast upheaval on the plain has never been as frequent as it is now; at least in the past, Spiritual Beasts absolutely did not dare to actively attack cities.

But recently, Ye Lingyue heard from her mother Ye Huangyu that Qi City has faced at least seven or eight waves of beast upheaval, and many nearby villages and towns have also faced significant casualties.

There must be a reason for the violent outbreak of the Spiritual Beasts.

That’s why Ye Lingyue wanted to know if it was possible, through Aguduo, to resolve the beast upheaval on the Xixia Plain in a peaceful manner.

Regrettably, Aguduo shook her head.

”Actually, before I arrived at Moon City, I also encountered several beast attacks, and Ah Hua was bitten and severely injured. I almost couldn’t make it to Moon City as scheduled.” Aguduo recalled the dire situation at the time and still feels the aftereffects.

Considering that even Aguduo, who possesses a Ninth-grade Ziwei Alabaster Elephant, had a close call with a beast attack, one can only imagine how dangerous the situation was.

”It shouldn’t be like this, logically speaking, since you, Miss Aguduo, have inherited the legacy of the Ancient Hundred Beasts Sect, you should already possess the ability to control all kinds of beasts, so how could you be attacked by them?” Third Brother He did not understand.

Inheriting the legacy of the Hundred Beasts Sect from Ancient Times should be like being Heaven’s Chosen Son, with a very high affinity and an enchanting power over any Spiritual Beasts.

”I think there could only be two reasons. One is that Miss Aguduo is not strong enough and hasn’t acquired the complete legacy memories. The other reason should be that there are other factors interfering with her control over the attacking Spiritual Beasts.” Second Brother He’s mind was sharper, and he quickly analyzed the possible causes.

The inheritance of the Ancient sects varied from person to person; some powerful Martial Arts could only be passed down when the Inheritor reached a certain level of cultivation.

Although Aguduo has good talent, she grew up in the Ancient Forest and lacked systematic Martial Arts training; she is merely in the Great Primordial Pill Realm.

This level of cultivation indeed wouldn’t allow her to fully comprehend the legacy memories of Ancient sects.

”I think what the elderly gentleman said is correct. I also sense that those Spiritual Beasts are abnormally violent, controlled by a force initiating the beast attacks. But that force is beyond my foresight range, and I don’t know exactly what it is.” Aguduo nodded.

”We must notify General Nie and the others about this immediately; it seems that to completely cure the beast upheaval on the Xixia Plain this time, we need to find the mastermind behind it.” Ye Lingyue pondered, and for some reason, after hearing Aguduo’s words, her mood inexplicably grew heavy, and she began to worry about her mother’s safety in Qi City.

Ye Lingyue’s concerns unexpectedly became a reality too soon.

Just as Ye Lingyue was preparing to inform Qi City of Aguduo’s findings, news that shocked everyone came through.

”What? You’re saying a village near Qi City was attacked by beasts last night, with a massive invasion of Spiritual Beasts, and General Nie and mother led a thousand Tiger Wolf Soldiers there, and both unfortunately fell victim to the attack!”

When Ye Lingyue heard the news, her face changed drastically.

”What exactly happened? Where did this message come from?”

Ye Lingyue regained her composure and grabbed the soldier who had rushed over from Qi City.

”Princess Ye, the message was brought back at the risk of their lives by a dozen survivors from the Tiger Wolf Army. General Nie and Captain Ye... they are both dead.” The soldier, also from the Tiger Wolf Army, said with a choked voice and red-rimmed eyes.

”How could this have happened? What were the reinforcements doing? What were Hong Fang and Xia Houhong doing!”

Tears rolled uncontrollably from Ye Lingyue’s eyes, as her mother’s voice and smile seemed to be right in front of her.

How could her mother possibly be dead? She had said she would seek revenge on Hong Fang; she had said she would...

”Ling Yue, calm down for a moment. There’s something fishy about this. Brother, please recount the whole incident in detail, the more detailed, the better.” Seeing that Ye Lingyue was distraught, Lan Cai’er hurried to comfort her while inquiring about the full account of last night’s creature attack.

These past few days, the area around Qi City had been very restless, with many villages suffering from creature attacks.

Last night, just before midnight, several soldiers from the Vanguard Camp suddenly sent out a signal, saying that a village about seven or eight li away from Qi City was under attack, and it was said that a ninth-grade Spiritual Beast had appeared.

Upon hearing this, Vice General Ye, who had been assigned to the Vanguard Camp, immediately called troops to head towards the village.

By the time General Nie Fengxing received the message, Vice General Ye had already taken people over.

Disregarding the orders of the Fourth Prince and the Great General, General Nie single-handedly led a group of Tiger Wolf Soldiers who had volunteered for the mission to the village for reinforcement.

But when the two groups of troops met up and arrived at the village, they found out that the situation in the village was not as simple as just a creature disturbance.

”Not just a creature disturbance? What do you mean by that?”

Hearing this far, Ye Lingyue couldn’t help but interrupt the soldier.

”After General Nie and Vice General Ye entered the village, they began rescuing the villagers immediately. But as Vice General Ye was carrying an old man out of the village, the old man suddenly went mad, attacking Vice General Ye with a weapon. Vice General Ye was caught off guard and got injured. Just then, a Double-headed Python appeared. Vice General Ye, wounded, had no chance to defend himself and was swallowed by the Double-headed Python.” The soldier trembled as he spoke, although he had not witnessed the moment himself.

A Double-headed Python as thick as a barrel swallowed Vice General Ye whole, and Nie Fengxing, arriving just in time, witnessed the scene.

”Seeing Vice General Ye being devoured, General Nie suddenly became terrifying. He charged forward like a madman, and the soldiers present couldn’t hold him back. The Double-headed Python was formidable; it could even spray poisonous smoke from its mouth. General Nie fought with it for two hours, but in the end, he couldn’t defeat the Double-headed Python and was swallowed too.” The young soldier could no longer hold back, his voice breaking with emotion.

General Nie Fengxing was always strict with the soldiers, often resorting to beating and scolding, but in dangerous situations, he would always be the first to charge forward.

They all understood that the General’s severity was meant to make them stronger, so that they could survive on the battlefield.

Although Vice General Ye was usually quiet, he was always kind to his brothers. When a fellow soldier’s family was in trouble and needed money urgently, it was Vice General Ye who had quietly offered the money.

The Tiger Wolf Camp held deep respect for both General Nie and Vice General Ye. To think that such good men had been devoured by the Double-headed Python, it made the soldier’s heart heavier with sorrow.
