Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 358: Chapter 228: A New Official Sets Three Fires

Ye Lingyue possessed the mysterious Qian Cauldron. She had meticulously cleaned up that trace of spiritual power using the Qian Cauldron’s Breath. Now, the Blood Cauldron had become her personal possession, completely inaccessible to others.

Wang Zhangding was the disciple of Chou Alchemist; Ye Lingyue did not want to leave any hidden dangers on her own territory, so she simply eliminated him.

Of course, this truth, besides Lan Cai’er and herself, would not be known by a third person in the world.

”After eliminating Wang Zhangding, you can rest easy as the Master of Dan City,” Lan Cai’er said regretfully, having missed a splendid contest.

”It’s not that easy. The daily management of Dan City is more complicated than I imagined. Just managing this group of a hundred alchemists in the Alchemist Mansion is already giving me such a headache,” Ye Lingyue pointed at the piles of daily logs from the Alchemist Mansion on the table.

She hadn’t realized until she checked herself just how chaotic the internal management of the Alchemist Mansion was.

They only allocated a mere two hours each day for alchemy at the Alchemist Mansion.

When she was at the Imperial Hospital in Xia Capital, even as an assistant alchemist like Ye Lingyue, she had to perform alchemy for more than four hours each day, even though the salary in Dan City was twice as much as in the Imperial Hospital.

The alchemists in Dan City, relying on the remoteness of their location from the Emperor, received hefty salaries while doing the least amount of work.

No wonder so many were unhappy when they heard Ye Lingyue planned to drive them out.

The alchemy time and quantity were just one of the problems; the storage management at the Xia Capital’s Alchemist Mansion was also disorganized. Whether it was the raw materials or the refined Elixir Pills, nothing was categorized, merely logging a rough daily total of inputs and expenditures.

Over time, even the Master couldn’t ascertain the stock of different types of Elixir Pills in the storeroom.

Some raw materials were insufficient in quantity, leading to a shortage during alchemy, while others piled up like mountains, rotting away in the storeroom without anyone to care, resulting in considerable annual waste by the Alchemist Mansion.

”I plan to write to the Imperial Hospital to temporarily transfer Vice Manager Cui to Dan City for a while to reorganize the alchemy standards within the Alchemist Mansion,” Ye Lingyue stated. Usually focusing only on alchemy, even when she became the Sect Leader of the Ghost Sect, she delegated all matters to Yan Che.

Transferring Vice Manager Cui would be perfect for employing her methods to regulate the Alchemist Mansion.

”Ling Yue, I’ve discovered something. Do you remember the Treasure Cave in Xia Capital? It’s the one that was confiscated a while back by the Fourth Prince and Hong Fang under charges of treason. I found out that a new Treasure Cave has opened here in Dan City,” Lan Cai’er stumbled upon the Treasure Cave while wandering around Dan City.

Finding a store from Xia Capital in a foreign land, Lan Cai’er couldn’t help feeling a bit excited, treating it as something novel and then informed Ye Lingyue.

From her expression, one wouldn’t know yet there was more to the Treasure Cave.

For Ye Lingyue, the existence of a Treasure Cave in Dan City was indeed great news.

In Dan City, Ye Lingyue was still unfamiliar with the local terrain, and the power of the Ghost Sect hadn’t expanded there yet. Having the He Family brothers rooted here would greatly benefit her in truly securing control over Dan City.

After chatting casually with Lan Cai’er, Ye Lingyue wrote a letter that very evening, sending it back to the Imperial Hospital.

The next day in the afternoon, a notice as tall as a person was posted outside the Alchemist Mansion of Dan City.

The notice announced a series of new measures for the Alchemist Mansion, including increased alchemy time, halving the salary, and setting new rules for the Alchemy List.

The notice stated that after completing the daily alchemy tasks, producing an additional Elixir Pill of Fifth-grade or higher would earn a high reward. If one could rank within the top three on the monthly Alchemy List, they could also earn a recommendation to study or even work at the Imperial Hospital.

The announcement elicited both discontent and joy from the alchemists in the mansion.

Especially for those alchemists who came from modest backgrounds but had always hoped to enter the Imperial Hospital, they were working their hardest, wishing they could split a 24-hour day in half and alchemize day and night without rest.

The Alchemy Field of the Alchemist Mansion was also a scene of bustling activity.

”This new Master, setting so many harsh conditions, he’s practically not letting any of us live.”

”Exactly, after driving Cauldron Master Wang to death, now he’s brought the Xia Capital set-up to Dan City.”

”They say the sting of a wasp is deadlier than the malice in a woman’s heart, this woman clearly wants to increase alchemy production to show off to the court.”

A few discontented alchemists grumbled to one side.

”Are you trying to get us all killed? If we’re overheard, it’s over for all of us.”

Some cautiously whispered a reminder.

After yesterday’s Blood Cauldron incident, everyone no longer underestimated this new Cauldron Master Ye.

The alchemists looked around and, not seeing Cauldron Master Ye’s figure, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

In the crowd, there was only one young alchemist in a common Alchemist Robe who looked somewhat unfamiliar.

With several new alchemists having joined the Alchemist Mansion recently, the others paid him no mind, assuming he was just another newcomer.

”What are you scared of? She thinks just because she became a Master, she owns Dan City. But don’t forget, in Dan City, the real boss is General Su.”

”Right, let’s go to General Su.”

After those alchemists walked away, the new alchemist who had been earlier observing the notice quietly walked out of the Alchemist Mansion.

This alchemist was none other than Ye Lingyue, who was disguised, or as known as Hong Shisan.

”It seems, the real person in charge in Dan City is none other than that figure at the General Mansion.”

Because the Alchemist Mansion in Dan City lacked the capability to protect itself, it had always relied on the military protection provided by the court.

These alchemists were also used to relying on the military.

Recalling General Su’s indifferent demeanor and Cauldron Master Wang’s arrogance, she could guess that General Su was surely the one supporting Cauldron Master Wang behind the scenes.

Ye Lingyue had a premonition that sooner or later she would clash with the sanctimonious General Su.

Ye Lingyue glanced at the heavily guarded General Mansion, not in a hurry, and blended into the crowd, heading for the main street of Dan City.

She planned to visit some of her old friends.

The Alchemist Mansion was located on the most bustling street in Dan City; according to Lan Cai’er, the new Treasure Cave was at the end of this street.

As Ye Lingyue walked, she could feel the prosperity of Dan City.

Despite Dan City’s local population being not very large, only around fifty thousand, its bustling activity could rival any large city in the northwest.

Looking at the bustling streets, Ye Lingyue suddenly realized that this trip to Dan City might be an excellent opportunity, if she could seize this crucial city leading to Northwest Daxia, it would be greatly beneficial for her future development.
