Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 224: Chapter 94 Testing Heavenly Destiny

Ye Lingyue and the Sixth Prince made their way to Yao Concubine’s palace.

Ever since Yao Concubine acquired the Star Shining Sky Plate and became the State Preceptor, many people visited her Chuyun Palace daily.

Amongst these visitors were princes and princesses from the harem as well as several court ministers; apart from those who came to curry favor, most were eager to glimpse the true form of Yao Concubine’s Earth-level Spiritual Treasure.

Hearing that the Sixth Prince and Princess Ye were coming in person, Yao Concubine even made a special trip outside the palace to receive them.

”What a rare honor, to have the Sixth Prince and Princess Ye visit my humble abode.” After Yao Concubine’s elevation to State Preceptor, her temperament and attire had greatly changed.

She exuded less seductiveness but more mystique. Even her usual preference for bright, colorful clothing had been replaced by pure white, giving her an almost celestial appearance.

However, both Ye Lingyue and the Sixth Prince knew that this was only a facade.

Yao Concubine greeted Ye Lingyue with great enthusiasm, as if the elixir pill competition of a few days earlier had completely slipped her mind.

Upon entering Chuyun Palace, they saw that Crown Prince Hong and Hong Fang were also present.

”Looks like the Crown Prince and the Grand Protector are here too. Is the Crown Prince here to see the Earth-level Spiritual Treasure as well?” Xiahou Qi was somewhat surprised.

Crown Prince Hong and Hong Fang, on the other hand, were surprised to see Ye Lingyue arriving with the Sixth Prince.

Since when had the Lan Residence become so closely involved with the Sixth Prince? Hong Fang wondered inwardly.

Could the Sixth Prince have taken a liking to the wild child from the Lan Residence?

A flash of barely noticeable loathing flickered through the eyes of the Crown Prince.

After masking his disdain, Crown Prince Hong said with a hearty laugh,

”Sixth Brother, Lord Grand Protector and I are here concerning the earthquake disaster in Yun City. As you know, Father Emperor has entrusted me with the management of Yun City’s disaster recovery.”

”Then my heartfelt thanks to elder brother for your efforts. I hope that Yun City can be restored to its former state soon,” said the Sixth Prince to Crown Prince Hong, after asking about the disaster situation and then explaining the purpose of their visit today.

”I heard that Yao Concubine has obtained an Earth-level Spiritual Treasure, and I’m very interested. May we take a look?”

”Since the Sixth Prince has so requested, how could this concubine dare to refuse?” Yao Concubine replied with a smile that was not quite a smile, a peculiar gleam flashing in her eyes.

With that, she ordered someone to fetch a brocade box.

She chanted something under her breath, indulging in some tricks, and with a pop, the brocade box opened by itself, and a Star Plate the size of a jade disc leaped out.

At first glance, the Star Plate seemed unremarkable.

Its color was like inkstone, plain and simple.

But with the appearance of the Star Plate, the room transformed into a sea of stars.

The Star Plate, like a blazing sun, hung amidst the sea of stars.

Each tiny star in the sea of stars shone with a brilliant light, illuminating the Star Plate.

The Star Plate absorbed the power of the stars and turned a translucent color.

”Sixth Prince of Daxia, sixteen years of age, Xiahou Qi. Earnestly summoning the Heavenly Gods, predict the future, know life and death, divine fortune and prosperity.”

Yao Concubine’s voice changed as if she became another person, cold and ancient.

This Yao Concubine, it would truly be a pity for her not to be a charlatan.

Ye Lingyue and the Sixth Prince initially watched from the side, both secretly amused.

But as time passed, there was a noticeable change in their expressions.

For they both sensed a mighty force from the heavens pouring into the Star Shining Sky Plate.

Star Power—that was a force from the heavens, more formidable than spiritual power, perceivable only by the most high-level Alchemists.

Faced with the majestic Star Power of the heavens, Ye Lingyue and the Sixth Prince felt so insignificant, like the most inconspicuous speck of dust in the universe.

The Star Shining Sky Plate underwent a transformation; the blackness faded, and the Plate became as translucent as jade. On the surface of the Star Chart, the name of the Sixth Prince, Xiahou Qi, appeared.

As the name Xiahou Qi emerged, lines of red ancient seal script began to appear within the Star Chart.

Upon seeing the seal script, Yao Concubine recited them.

”The Sixth Prince is of noble birth, yet his fate is fraught with twists and turns. At the ages of six and sixteen, the Tian Lang Star enters his destiny chart, bringing two great calamities. If he can turn misfortune into fortune, the Ziwei Star shall regain its place and bless our court with fortune.”

The Sixth Prince listened to Yao Concubine’s words without agreeing or objecting, for the trajectories of his past ten-plus years were well known throughout Xia Palace.

The prophecies about the trials at ages six and sixteen, however, were dead accurate.

At six, he experienced Deviation; and this year, at sixteen, had it not been for Ye Lingyue, his prospects likely would have been grim.

This statement had a different meaning for Crown Prince Hong and Hong Fang.

The Ziwei Star is the Emperor’s Star; its return to position signifies that the Sixth Prince may ascend to the throne and succeed the realm. However, the Star Shining Sky Plate also implies that this hinges upon the Sixth Prince surviving the trial of his sixteenth year.

”Thank you, Lord State Preceptor, for your blessing. I shall certainly take extra caution,” said the Sixth Prince respectfully.

Following the predictions of the previous night, the Star Shining Sky Plate dimmed once again, and Yao Concubine’s voice returned to normal.

Though an Earth-level Spiritual Treasure is beneficial, it also consumes a great deal of spiritual power, especially when divining the fortune of someone with strong fate and high cultivation levels, requiring Yao Concubine to expend even more spiritual power.

”We have seen what the Heavenly Mechanism Plate has shown, and it’s getting late. We should not disturb the State Preceptor, the elder brother, and the Grand Protector in discussing the calamity. Elder sister, let’s head back,” Xiahou Qi stood up, preparing to leave with Ye Lingyue.

That’s when Yao Concubine suddenly spoke.

”Since Princess Ye is here, why not have a divination as well?”

Ever since losing to Ye Lingyue, Yao Concubine had been secretly investigating her, but no matter how much she probed, there was very scant information about Ye Lingyue.

Yao Concubine hoped to use today’s opportunity to uncover Ye Lingyue’s true background.

Ye Lingyue was slightly taken aback, her eyes briefly swept over to the spot where Hong Fang was. Hong Fang was sipping his tea; upon hearing Yao Concubine’s suggestion, his action of drinking tea halted.

Yao Concubine’s Star Shining Sky Plate seemed indeed capable of Divine Skills. If it really revealed something, wouldn’t that expose Ye Lingyue’s identity?

”I think it’s unnecessary; elder sister has always detested such superstitious objects the most,” the Sixth Prince shook his head.

”Whether she likes it or not, Princess Ye has the final say. Or is it that Princess Ye has some unspeakable secrets that she dares not to test before the Star Shining Sky Plate?” Crown Prince Hong’s voice, slightly sinister, added fuel to the fire from the side.

”Let’s do the divination then. I am quite curious to see how divine the Star Shining Sky Plate truly is,” Ye Lingyue spoke and then got up, approaching Yao Concubine.

”Lan Family’s second daughter, Ye Lingyue, fourteen years of age, earnestly requests the Heavenly Gods to predict the future, know life and death, and divine blessings and fortune,” Yao Concubine chanted just as before.

Once more, the space surrounding the Star Shining Sky Plate transformed into a sea of stars.

When Ye Lingyue’s name appeared on the Star Shining Sky Plate, her heart tensed.

Meanwhile, Hong Fang had set down his teacup; in his eyes, which were adept at strategizing, there was a hint more solemnity.
