Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 217: Chapter 87: The One Who Came to Take Revenge

The commotion in the Outer Academy was completely unknown to Little Zhiyo, who was sound asleep, immersed in a delightful dream.

It was dreaming of itself sleeping atop a mountain piled with roast chicken legs, eating with great enjoyment.

Suddenly, Little Zhiyo turned over.

Seemingly having heard something amiss, Little Zhiyo narrowed its eyes.

”Uh, why does it seem to have gotten dark? Could it have become night so fast? When it’s dark, it’s time to eat!”

Little Zhiyo rubbed its eyes with its paws, about to get up, when suddenly its eyes bulged wide open.

”Zhiyo!!!”

It saw something – dozens of eagles in the sky swooping down fiercely.

The shock was fleeting, and Little Zhiyo quickly spotted not just the eagles, but many other birds flying over.

The culprit of the situation was none other than Little Wuya, perched on a nearby branch.

Beneath the branch, a large number of birds had already settled.

Little Zhiyo immediately understood that Little Wuya was acting the part of the Bird King, commanding the reverence of birds far and wide.

Seeing Little Wuya’s lofty position, looking down disdainfully at the other birds, Little Zhiyo felt envy and jealousy.

Its pitch-black eyes rolled, and whoosh, it climbed up the branch, sitting side by side with Little Wuya.

Had it been any other creature, Little Wuya would have surely smacked them down with a wing.

But with Daddy Little Zhiyo, Little Wuya let out a series of joyful cries and affectionately pecked at Little Zhiyo’s feathers.

The latter reveled in the pampering.

The birds still paying homage were utterly baffled, but since even the Bird King Little Wuya had not issued any command, they, the mere followers, just had to join in the reverence.

Ye Lingyue watched from under the tree, amused yet somewhat helpless.

What exactly were these two little things up to?

After summoning the flock, Little Wuya then emitted a series of short sounds like commands.

Ye Lingyue roughly understood that Little Wuya was ordering the gathered birds to help select seeds.

What a great idea!

Ye Lingyue was delighted. Little Wuya turned out to be quite clever.

Birds naturally like swallowing various seeds and grains, and they do it quickly. The birds and fowls summoned from the Imperial Palace numbered at least a few thousand.

Little Wuya’s method was also straightforward – each bird was responsible for selecting one type of Medicinal Grass seed.

Large seeds were left to big birds, while the tiny ones, like sesame seeds, were handled by hummingbirds or sparrows.

With clear division of labor and singular goals, these birds could quickly sort, not just a hundred sacks, but even a thousand.

Little Wuya was being considerate of its dear master.

Ye Lingyue regarded both Little Zhiyo and Little Wuya as if they were her adopted children.

Now it seemed these two little ones had grown up and knew how to care for their master.

They say daughters are like little cotton-padded jackets, and indeed, it’s true.

”Chirp, chirp!” Seeing that all who should be there had arrived, Little Wuya issued another command.

The birds began to take action, flying towards those sacks.

Fifty birds formed a group to handle one sack.

For a moment, the Outer Academy was bustling with feverish activity.

Originally, it took Ye Lingyue an hour just to select out a sack of seeds, but with the help of thousands of birds, in just four hours, the mixed seeds in over a hundred sacks were accurately sorted out.

Piled up separately, from a distance, they looked like little mounds of earth.

”Thank you all for your hard work today.” Having finished selecting the seeds, Ye Lingyue did not forget to pick some fresh fruits from Hong Meng Heaven to reward the birds.

While feeding them, a series of faint footsteps came from behind.

Someone?

Ye Lingyue was startled; she had been careless and forgotten that she was still in the Imperial Hospital. If someone discovered the affair of Little Wuya commanding the birds, it would certainly expose her identity as a Phoenix Descendant.

”Is it time?”

The Sixth Prince Xiahou Qi stood a mere few steps away.

The mid-day sun had just passed, the late autumn sun not too blinding, casting a warm feel on one’s body.

Little Wuya’s feat of ’Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix’ had also attracted a Blood Parrot that Xiahou Qi was keeping.

Earlier on, Xiahou Qi’s palace maids were feeding it, but who knew that the usually obedient Blood Parrot would fly off like a runaway wild horse towards the direction of the Imperial Hospital.

The palace maids hurriedly informed Xiahou Qi, who, after searching throughout the Imperial Palace, found several feathers of the Blood Parrot near the Imperial Hospital and thus entered.

To his surprise, Xiahou Qi happened to witness Ye Lingyue feeding the birds, an ethereal and dreamlike scene.

Countless birds surrounded Ye Lingyue, their clear, bell-like laughter, and the birds vying to land on Ye Lingyue’s hands.

Her face was red from a day’s hard work, her long hair dancing in the wind, like a waterfall from the heavens, making her appear as if a celestial maiden had descended to the world.

In that moment, Xiahou Qi felt as if his breath had halted.

It was only when Ye Lingyue turned around and saw that Xiahou Qi had come that she breathed a sigh of relief.

”Junior brother, why have you come?” Ye Lingyue remembered that after Xiahou Qi became a disciple of Master Long Yu, the master had taken him to the Alchemist Tower to reteach him the basics of becoming an Alchemist.

But counting the days, it had also been over half a month. She thought that the Sixth Prince must have returned to the Imperial Palace to visit his parents and the Empress Dowager.

In fact, Xiahou Qi had chosen this day to return to the Imperial Palace for a reason.

A few days ago, he had heard from Master Long Yu that after Ye Lingyue became a Court Alchemist, today would be her first day on duty in the Imperial Palace.

Xiahou Qi planned to secretly slip away to meet Ye Lingyue after paying respects to his imperial father and mother, and grandmother.

Who would have known that he would stumble upon this scene?

Ye Lingyue held a very special place for Xiahou Qi; she was his lifesaver and for these teenage years, the first woman who truly entered his heart.

But all this, Xiahou Qi was unwilling to tell anyone.

”Senior sister, these birds... what’s with these seeds?” Xiahou Qi was just about to inquire when he noticed the large pile of medicinal grass seeds on the ground.

Looking at the many sacks, Xiahou Qi’s expression changed.

”They made you sift seeds?”

”It’s said to be the first task for a newcomer, assigned by Vice Chief Meng.” Ye Lingyue was no saintly White Lotus; if Vice Chief Meng dared to take advantage of her, she dared to get the Sixth Prince to strike back.

Xiahou Qi, who had grown up in the Imperial Palace, knew that apart from the struggles between the concubines and princes and princesses, officials, palace maids, and eunuchs were also said to engage in various struggles.

But Xiahou Qi thought that given Ye Lingyue’s medical skills and alchemy skills, no one would dare to bully her. Little did he expect that those wretched servants would dare to make her do this sort of task only suitable for miscellaneous servants.

”Someone!” Xiahou Qi roared angrily, and his personal guard, General Chi Yan, hastily entered.

”Sixth Prince. Princess Ye.” As soon as Chi Yan entered, he saw the Sixth Prince’s furious face.

”Go and bring Vice Chief Meng here.”
