Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 209: Chapter 79: The Poison Expert

Elder He knew the young man Tenth Young Master brought was no ordinary individual.

Despite seeming like a skinny teenager, he understood poison, which made Lai Gu skeptical with her ugly face showing several threads of disbelief.

”I have a rudimentary knowledge of it,” Ye Lingyue took over a Intestine-breaking Pill.

But in the blink of an eye, Ye Lingyue was certain and declared that it was indeed an Intestine-breaking Pill.

”It contains three taels of intestinal rupture herb, three handfuls of Centipede Vine, and a diluted Viper Liquid. There is no mistake, it’s a Third-grade Intestine-breaking Pill.” As soon as Ye Lingyue spoke out, Lai Gu’s face underwent a drastic change.

Because the composition of the Intestine-breaking Pill named by Ye Lingyue was exactly the same as when she performed the Alchemy.

”However...” Ye Lingyue glanced at Lai Gu. ”These ingredients are two-thirds less than a regular Intestine-breaking Pill.”

”Oh, everyone heard that, huh? This is substandard goods, no wonder my Elixir Pills didn’t work. Boss He, make sure you heard that right. This old hag is a fraudulent merchant.” Upon hearing this, Young Master Gu was immediately ecstatic and looked like he was going to start a fight again.

”Hold on, Young Master Gu, no fighting is allowed within Treasure Cave. Lai Gu has violated the rules, and I will see to her permanent banishment from Treasure Cave. But if you want to act out, please step out of Treasure Cave before you do, otherwise, don’t blame Treasure Cave for putting you on the blacklist as well,” said Elder He sternly.

”Hold on, this issue hasn’t been clarified yet. I haven’t sold fake medicine. This young master has excellent discernment, and I admit what he said isn’t false. But as he also mentioned just now, this Intestine-breaking Pill is still a genuine one, isn’t it?” The woman known as Lai Gu, however, wasn’t panicked, and she looked at Ye Lingyue.

”That’s correct. There is nothing wrong with the Elixir itself, its potency is just weaker than usual, which isn’t sufficient for humans. But if used on... something like a Wild Beast or a Spiritual Beast below the Third-grade, it is deadly enough.” Ye Lingyue still had quite a good impression of the ugly woman.

She could tell that the other party was a skilled Poison Refining Alchemist, and there must be a reason for her to reduce the quantity of the Medicinal Grass.

”Young Master Gu, don’t forget what you said when we made the deal. You explicitly mentioned that the Gu Family Ancillary Mansion had a nest of dreadful spiritual mice that bit the livestock at the mansion. You asked me to refine ten pieces of Third-grade Intestine-breaking Pills for you, which should be tasteless, odorless, and leave no residue of Poison Pills after ingestion—one hundred Gold per pill. Do you still remember these words?”

Lai Gu’s frail figure emanated a powerful aura as she pressed on and questioned Young Master Gu.

A hundred Gold for Poison to kill spiritual mice – this Young Master Gu either had more money in the family than he could spend or...

”This Young Master Gu is the son-in-law of Kind Gu, a wealthy man in the city. Kind Gu, who has devoted his life to good deeds and charities, unfortunately, has no son. His eldest daughter married Young Master Gu, a cousin of the same surname. It’s heard that recently, Kind Gu has been bedridden, recuperating in the Gu Family Ancillary Mansion. Could it be...” Elder He was well-informed in the city and knew Young Master Gu’s character very well.

The talk of poisoning spiritual mice is definitely false; the true intention is poisoning and murder.

Ten Poison Pills, designed to kill more than a dozen people in the Gu Residence in one fell swoop.

Elder He broke into a cold sweat thinking of this.

Treasure Cave has established itself in Xia Capital adhering to the principles of not getting involved in politics or illegal activities. If Kind Gu’s family were truly poisoned to death by Young Master Gu, the court would undoubtedly investigate Treasure Cave.

Only now did Ye Lingyue understand why Lai Gu deliberately refined substandard Intestine-breaking Pills.

”You, you all, very clever, I see you’re all in on this,” Young Master Gu did not expect his own scheme to be seen through.

Indeed, he bought these Intestine-breaking Pills at a high price with the purpose of poisoning Kind Gu’s family.

That old man was already grievously ill, not long for this world, yet he continued to hold the authority of the Gu Family.

And his wife, the Eldest daughter of the Gu Family, not just unattractive but always kept him in check, preventing him from indulging outside. He had intended to use the Intestine-breaking Pills to poison all of them to death.

Who would have known that after Kind Gu took the Intestine-breaking Pills, he did not die but instead expelled several clots of stagnant blood from his body, miraculously recovering.

Young Master Gu’s anger grew as he thought about it. He had intended to take out his anger on Lai Gu, to force her to return the silver and refine the Poison Pill again. Little did he know that in the midst of their argument, Ye Lingyue would suddenly emerge.

Seeing his scheme uncovered, the person Young Master Gu hated the most now was Lai Gu.

Fearing that Lai Gu would continue to speak and bring the matter to the officials, he erupted into a roar. A dark golden Primordial Power surged in his palm.

With a punch thrown, it was like a mini-tornado, striking with astonishing speed towards Lai Gu’s vital point like a whirlwind.

”How presumptuous, to dare make a move in front of this old man.” Elder He was cold. But then, one saw Elder He lift his hand, and a streak of white light shot out from between his fingers.

That white light formed into a Great Handprint.

”Sunlight Palm Seal.”

The handprint turned into a huge Void hand, which grabbed Young Master Gu.

Young Master Gu wanted to struggle fiercely, but Elder He’s handprint was extremely formidable, leaving him with no chance of resistance.

”Capture him.” With a grasp of Elder He’s five fingers, Young Master Gu was bound as if by ropes and tightly controlled in his hand.

”Someone, take Young Master Gu to the officials.”

Young Master Gu was taken away dejectedly.

Elder He glared at Lai Gu disapprovingly.

”Lai Gu, what exactly is going on with this incident?”

After listening, Lai Gu’s expression turned a bit somber.

The Treasure Cave was the only place that allowed her to set up her stall. Kind Gu was a good person. When she was at her lowest, it was Kind Gu who gave her ten silver taels, helping her through her toughest times.

When Young Master Gu came to buy poison, she felt something was amiss.

Upon asking around, she found out that Kind Gu had fallen ill.

Lai Gu knew that it must have been due to old age and blood stasis within his body. She secretly tampered with the Elixir, reducing the dosage of the Intestine-breaking Pill and ingeniously cured Kind Gu.

”Although I only know Poison Refining, I understand the principle that a drop of water in need shall be returned with a gushing spring. I have repaid Kind Gu’s kindness. Even if you, Boss He, want to drive me out of the Treasure Cave, I will have no resentment.” Having said this, Lai Gu began to pack up her things, ready to leave.

What a noble act, to return grace like a gushing spring – Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun nodded silently to themselves while listening.

Especially Ye Lingyue, who couldn’t help but admire Lai Gu’s integrity.

Judging by Lai Gu’s attire, she clearly was in great need of money. Yet, for the ten silver taels from the past, she was willing to give up her opportunity to run a stall in the Treasure Cave. She indeed was a remarkable woman.

”Wait, aren’t you going to serve a customer who comes to your doorstep? I have just checked; several Medicinal Grasses on your stall are exactly what I need. I am willing to pay a high price for them.”

Just when Lai Gu was feeling utterly dispirited, she suddenly heard a clear and melodious voice calling out to her.

The young man who had previously identified the poison stepped forward, beginning to peruse Lai Gu’s Medicinal Grasses.
