Transmigrating Into a Book, the Villain Becomes the White Moonlight!

44: Chapter 44 I Want Land~Su Bai rushed back to the Su Family villa. Without even properly changing his shoes, he strode up the stairs in a few steps and headed straight for his father’s study.

He twisted the doorknob, but the room inside was empty.

“Mom! Where’s Dad?” He turned around and raised his voice toward the living area downstairs.

Ms. Shang Hui walked slowly out of the inner sunroom holding a cup of flower tea. She looked with some surprise at her son, who rarely showed such urgency: “There’s an important meeting at the company today that your father is presiding over. He probably won’t be back until later. What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

“I want to set up a venue, the kind that’s big enough. I need a piece of land.” Su Bai walked down the stairs and stated his purpose bluntly.

This wasn’t a sudden desire to strive for greatness; his reason was actually quite pure—for a better gaming experience.

In his view, the greatest fun in gaming lay in competition and challenge.

If it was just one-sidedly crushing noobs, it would become dull and tasteless over time.

Even if the games in his head from another world were successfully released, it would be difficult for truly top-tier experts to emerge in the short term.

And the birth of experts is inseparable from fertile soil.

A game’s popularity needs continuous fuel, and professional tournaments are an absolutely essential catalyst.

Moreover, he had more than one game stored in his mind. If they were all developed in the future, frequently renting different venues to hold competitions would not only be troublesome but also lack a sense of exclusivity and ceremony.

It would be better to do it right in one go and build an exclusive, high-standard e-sports tournament venue.

Having a fixed and professional competition venue would naturally further encourage the development of the player community and attract more talent to join, forming a virtuous cycle.

With his current status as the Young Master of the Su Family, wouldn’t getting a venue sound like a breeze?

“Land?” Shang Hui sat down on the sofa and gently placed her teacup on the coffee table, a hint of curiosity showing in her gaze.

“Our family’s existing land has long been fully developed. Most of it is for commercial office buildings and shopping malls with high occupancy rates. The kind of venue you want that can accommodate a large audience has very specific requirements for ceiling height, structure, and area. I’m afraid our existing properties don’t quite fit.”

“Then buy a new piece.” Su Bai answered as if it were only natural.

Hearing this, Shang Hui couldn’t help but smile: “Son, you make it sound so simple. Do you know what it means in City A to acquire construction land for a large venue that can accommodate tens of thousands of people, especially one that meets your requirements?”

She paused and gave a specific figure, “If we estimate based on a standard capacity of ten to twenty thousand people, the cost of acquiring the land plus the renovations would probably start at eight or nine billion. And that’s a conservative estimate.”

“That expensive?” Su Bai was truly a bit surprised this time. In fact, since he transmigrated, the largest sum of money he had spent was merely the investment for this game.

Because he knew this game would definitely have a return, he dared to do it.

If he were to build a ten-billion-yuan venue, tsk, no matter how he thought about it, it felt risky.

“Of course.” Shang Hui picked up her teacup, her tone calm but carrying clear awareness.

“When City A built the new main stadium years ago, our Su Corporation also participated in the investment. Projects like that involve huge investments and long cycles; they are usually co-financed by several powerful groups to share the risk. Wanting to acquire land and build a large venue on your own is not a small matter that can be decided on a whim, even for the Su Corporation.”

She looked at her son’s thoughtful expression and added: “However, the idea itself is quite fresh. What exactly do you plan to use this venue for? Perhaps there are other ways to achieve it.”

Su Bai explained: “I want to make it a dedicated venue for gaming tournaments.”

Su Bai paused and then corrected himself: “Actually, it might not necessarily need a scale of ten thousand people. A venue that can accommodate a few thousand might be more appropriate and practical.”

In his view, for e-sports tournaments which primarily rely on big-screen viewing, the experience of a live crowd of over ten thousand people might not be optimal.

Regular leagues or cups would have a better atmosphere if held in an exclusive venue;

As for grand events like the Annual Finals, they could simply be held by short-term rental of the largest existing venue in City A.

“If it’s just that scale, then it’s indeed much more feasible.” Shang Hui nodded slightly. Before her voice could fade, the sound of a door opening came from the entrance.

Su Zheng took off his coat and walked in.

“Hubby, you’re back just in time.” Shang Hui went to meet him, her tone light, “Your son wants to build a professional venue and is currently pondering over the land.”

“A venue?” Su Zheng walked to the main seat on the sofa and sat down. He cast his gaze toward Su Bai as usual and asked almost without thinking: “For that game you’re working on?”

“Yeah.” Su Bai nodded.

“The idea is fine, but the order is wrong.” Su Zheng leaned forward slightly, his tone calm but pointing directly at the key issue.

The reaction of this couple once again confirmed the setting given to them by this novel world—they offered almost unconditional support for Su Bai’s ideas, interpreting the word ’doting’ to the fullest.

Su Bai indeed didn’t fully understand.

Su Zheng continued to explain patiently: “Right now, you are relying on your Uncle Lin’s company’s team and venue; in the end, those are borrowed. Since you want to make this a long-term career, or even turn it into large-scale tournaments, then what you need first isn’t an isolated piece of land, but a building of your own. Use it to register and establish a formal gaming company, and bring the entire project, team, and intellectual property under your own name. That is the first step to putting things on the right track.”

He saw things very clearly.

The gaming project led by his son currently had all its human resources under the framework of the Lin Corporation. Over time, rights, responsibilities, and interests would inevitably become blurred.

Su Bai was the soul of the project, but he lacked a solid physical entity for support.

Moreover, Su Zheng also understood his son’s greater ambition—he wanted to make electronic games have a sense of scale and influence like traditional sports.

In that case, an exclusive venue that could host tournaments and fan culture would indeed be needed in the future.

Although deep down Su Zheng still had a trace of doubt about whether a game was worth such a grand gesture, this was, after all, a rare occasion where his son actively wanted to do something serious.

This initiative itself was worth his full support.

Su Bai nodded in sudden realization. He had only been thinking about the things after success, not the process.

“I’ve actually already arranged the company matters for you.” A composed smile appeared at the corner of Su Zheng’s mouth, as if everything was under control.

He took a neatly bound document out of the briefcase he carried and handed it to Su Bai.

On the cover of the document were four simple and powerful bold characters: Su Games.

The name was straightforward, yet it also manifested the confidence behind it.

(A coincidence to advance the plot~ You must understand this concept~)

(That is, Su Bai makes games in order to play games. The goal must be clear~)
