Beauties in Simulation Cross over into Reality

Chapter 218: Chapter 199: He Is a Little Child, Just Like Xiao Mo

「A few years later.」

Kongnian Temple.

The sky was just beginning to break at dawn.

The young woman slowly opened her eyes.

She was no longer the little girl she once was.

Her figure had blossomed, her shirt outlining her perfect curves.

Her skin was as delicate as newly fallen snow, yet it held a faint blush, like warm jade under the light of March peach blossoms. Her eyebrows were as slender as a crescent moon, possessing a natural grace that needed no cosmetic enhancement.

Most striking of all were her eyes, as clear and profound as autumn waters. Her pupils were as dark as drops of ink, while the whites were as clear as a mountain spring. In her gaze, one could see both a young woman’s innocent wonder and a subtle, gentle affection.

However, despite the beauty of her eyes, few dared to meet her gaze directly, fearing she might see into their innermost thoughts.

Getting out of bed, the young woman put on her Monk’s Robe, left her room to wash up, and then headed to the front hall for morning chants.

Because she was the first woman in the world to cultivate Buddhist Dharma, she lived in a relatively remote area to avoid gossip, where she was rarely disturbed.

Walking through the mountain forest, her movements were as light as a swallow’s. Every gesture held a natural, pure grace, like the first budding lotus before the morning dew has dried—clean, bright, and untouched by the mortal world.

She had walked this small path at the foot of the mountain countless times and was intimately familiar with every blade of grass and every tree.

By the time the young woman entered the temple and stepped into the main hall of Kongnian Temple, most of the monks had already gathered.

At the very front of the hall sat an elderly man. Though old, his posture was straight and dignified.

This elder was the Abbot of Kongnian Temple.

The young woman walked step by step toward the front of the hall.

Many of the monks glanced at their junior sister; they had long since grown accustomed to her presence.

Finally, the young woman sat down on a prayer cushion just behind and to the side of the old man.

As the sole disciple of the Abbot of Kongnian Temple, her position was in front of all the other monks, but behind the Abbot himself.

“Since everyone is here, let the morning chants begin,” Abbot Xujing said slowly.

“Yes,” the monks replied in unison.

“DONG… DONG… DONG…”

Following the three chimes of Kongnian Temple’s bell, all the monks closed their eyes, and the sound of chanting slowly spread throughout the entire temple.

But while they all chanted the same scriptures, among all the monks, only the young woman was cloaked in a faint Buddha’s Light.

And this Buddha’s Light grew increasingly dense, as if the Buddha’s Rhyme itself had draped a golden Kasaya over her.

At the same time, above Kongnian Temple, the Buddha’s Light condensed. Golden auspicious clouds drifted by, and a gentle breeze blew, as if it could sweep away all distracting thoughts.

In the past, when the monks chanted the scriptures, they would occasionally evoke the Buddha’s Rhyme, but never so vividly.

But ever since the young woman had her head shaved and converted to the Buddhist Sect, a phenomenon would occur every time she chanted the Buddhist Scriptures.

The same was true these past few years in Kongnian City, whether she was subduing Demons, praying for newlyweds, or sending off the elderly in their final passage.

Day by day, month by month, the young woman’s fame grew.

Gradually, the people of Kongnian City came to have a common name for her: Saintess Miaolian.

“DONG! DONG! DONG!”

Before they knew it, an hour had passed. Three more chimes of the bell rang out, and the sound of chanting in the hall ceased as the monks all opened their eyes.

But before them, the young woman was still chanting the scriptures.

She had entered a state of selfless enlightenment, forgetting the world around her.

“You are all dismissed,” Abbot Xujing said slowly.

“Yes, Abbot…”

The monks pressed their palms together in a gesture of respect and left one by one, opening the temple gates to welcome pilgrims and busying themselves with their duties.

The time it takes for an incense stick to burn later, the young woman slowly opened her eyes. Her perfectly clear gaze blinked as she looked at Xujing. “Grandpa Abbot, are the morning chants over?”

“Yes.” Abbot Xujing nodded with a gentle smile. “They ended an incense stick’s time ago. And just now, you were Entering the Dao.”

“Oh…” The young woman nodded.

“Wangxin, you are favored by the Buddha’s Rhyme not only because you possess a Seven-Orifice Exquisite Heart, but also because of your pure soul, and even more so because you have diligently studied the Buddhist Dharma all these years.”

Xujing gazed at the young woman who was both his disciple and like a granddaughter to him.

“In the six years since you converted to the Buddhist Sect, your Realm has already reached the Golden Core Realm. Your attainments in the Buddhist Dharma have also surpassed the vast majority of Buddhist Disciples.

According to the rules of Kongnian Temple, once a disciple enters the Golden Core Realm, they must descend the mountain and travel the mortal world for ten years.

But before that, Grandpa Abbot has a question for you.”

Wangxin tilted her head. “Please just ask, Grandpa Abbot.”

“The question is very simple.”

Xujing smiled.

“For some, their Buddha is found in the pages of the scriptures.”

“For some, their Buddha is found in saving others and themselves, time and again.”

“For some, their Buddha is the Golden Buddha Statue before them.”

“Wangxin, you have read so many Buddhist Scriptures. So, to you, what is the Buddha in your heart?”

“…”

Hearing her Grandpa Abbot’s words, Wangxin lowered her head, lost in thought.

“There’s no rush.” Xujing smiled. “Think it over carefully. It won’t be too late to tell me when you have an answer.”

With that, Xujing stood up and walked out of the main hall, step by step.

In the great hall, only Wangxin remained, kneeling in her seat.

’What is *my* Buddha?’

Wangxin raised her head and looked at the Buddha statue before her.

The Buddha statue seemed to be looking back at her.

One day.

Two days.

Three days.

Pilgrim after pilgrim walked past the young woman, and she listened to their prayers.

Chants echoed in her ears time and again as she listened to the words of the Buddhist Scriptures.

As the days passed, Wangxin remained kneeling on her prayer cushion in the main hall, her eyes closed in deep thought, as motionless as a statue.

At first, the pilgrims were surprised to see Master Wangxin kneeling before the Buddha, but none of them disturbed her.

But over time, the pilgrims grew accustomed to the sight.

’What is the Buddha in my heart?’

The young woman had never before considered what her heart’s Buddha might be.

All these years, she had only chanted scriptures, studied the Buddhist Dharma, and focused on her cultivation…

Ten days, eleven days… twelve days…

Gradually, the young woman began to lose herself in contemplation.

She stopped hearing the pilgrims’ prayers and the sounds of chanting.

Her world became a blank slate.

But in that emptiness, a small figure quietly appeared.

“DONG! DONG! DONG!”

One day, a month later, the great bell of Kongnian Temple rang on its own. Lotuses formed from golden light coalesced in the sky above the temple, creating a vast, golden lotus pond.

Xujing took a single step and appeared in the temple’s main hall.

Xujing walked to the young woman’s side just as she slowly opened her eyes. The golden light within them gradually faded, returning to normal.

“Do you have an answer?” Xujing asked.

“Mhm.” The young woman nodded. “Just now, in my heart, I saw the Buddha.”

“Oh?” Xujing smiled faintly. “And what was He like?”

“He was a child.

Just like Xiao Mo.”
