From Arsenal to the Ball God

Chapter 277: Chapter 86: Charity Event! Disabled Fans—I Will Remember Them! (Part 3)

Ma’el smiled, stood up, gave her a hug, and asked, ”You look very beautiful, can you answer the question I just asked you?”

After parting from Ma’el, the girl’s eyes turned red, perhaps with the excitement of meeting an idol, and also with the regret of wanting something unreachable.

Ma’el came to her side and watched her write down the words on the paper stroke by stroke.

”I don’t want anything, I just want to say something to you... your goal was wonderful and beautiful.”

Ma’el smiled, patted the girl’s head. Her hair was smooth, and she looked extremely pure, ”Thank you, I’ll score many more wonderful goals.”

”But I can’t celebrate your goals... because I can’t speak.”

She pointed at her mouth, her eyes slightly red as she shook her head, then looked down to write again.

Ma’el watched her focus on writing with her head down, feeling a bit of sympathy stirring in his heart. Later, he would give her a signed jersey and shoes.

If possible... he would prepare season tickets, and give them to these two people or even four people.

”Every time I try to celebrate.... others give me strange looks, even when they’re in high spirits, they don’t want to celebrate with me.

”Very few people hug me or give me a high-five, most people show fear and disgust, then avoid me.

”I receive a lot of encouraging messages on the internet, but in reality, in the stadium, I get nothing.

”I just want to celebrate goals, but I’m often mocked and insulted by others who think I can’t hear them, and also assume I’m stupid, oblivious to everything.”

Seeing her fill the whole paper with writing, Ma’el’s mouth slightly opened, feeling a numbing sensation spread all over his body.

He could fully empathize with this girl... feeling everything she’s been through.

He knew the feeling of emotional highs, he had heard the cheers of the Emirates Stadium countless times... yet he didn’t expect that at those moments, there would be a girl in the stands without even the right to celebrate.

What should he say?

Blame the Arsenal fans around the girl?

Reflect on the complexity of human nature?

”Uh-uh...” The girl cried with her lips pursed, making some sounds unintentionally, then covered her mouth with her hand, fearing that Ma’el would show the same disdain as those people.

Ma’el showed no expression, numbly stepping forward to hug the girl, patting her back to comfort her.

His mind was racing, perhaps he needed to do something... but what exactly should he do?

He had just met these people, his relationship with them wasn’t close, and there was no chance they would have any involvement in each other’s real lives.

Give them a sum of money, which to him wasn’t much?

Or help them voice out on social media, calling Arsenal fans to care for them?

Maybe neither of these are the best solution, unable to truly help these two, and might even backfire.

”I’ll leave you my contact information too.”

He took out his phone, let the girl write down her social media account on paper, and said, ”I’ll give you a jersey with my signature on it, and write some words on it.

”Let those near you know, I hope you won’t get hurt, or that I’m protecting you, alright?

”Then... the next home Champions League is too soon, I’ll choose a good day and book a box at Emirates Stadium for you four, so you can watch a game quietly, alright?

”No one will disturb you, you can celebrate if you want, do whatever you want.”

These were the only two things he could do, maybe he could do more, but for now, this was all he could think of.

”Yes...!”

The girl finally wrote a big ’yes’ on the paper, stopped crying, and jumped up with a smile, although the intensity hadn’t worn off, making her body tremble slightly now and then.

Ma’el then took off his jersey, signed it, and gave it to her.

Knowing that the middle-aged man had a long way to go, he wrote blessings on his shoes and handed them over.

Both gladly accepted, and they stood on either side of Ma’el with happy smiles, taking a commemorative photo.

”I won’t forget them.”

After the event ended, Ma’el walked out of the restaurant, already changed into regular clothes, ”Fans put in so much every week to support the team, we should do something for them.”

Wenger nodded in agreement, stopped at the elevator entrance after seeing Ma’el off, ”I’m waiting for Vermaelen and Van Persie, you go ahead.”

”Alright.”

Ma’el entered the elevator, turned back and said, ”Mr. Wenger, I’ll participate in more of these events in the future, remember those four away game season tickets.”
