Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 862: Chapter 862: Only One Month Left

”Dr. Shelby...”

The middle-aged man’s eyes still held disbelief, clinging to a glimmer of hope in Ian Shelby, ”Even you have no way? You are a miracle doctor!”

”It was discovered too late, we’ve missed the golden period; I’m powerless as well.”

Then Ian Shelby nodded politely at them and turned to leave.

In the corridor, the couple watched the receding figure as if watching hope fade away.

When Finn Morgan received the message, Ian Shelby was already on the helicopter.

Melissa Merce, late-stage lung cancer? Only one month left?

Finn Morgan stared at the words on the screen, also in a daze for quite a while, how is this possible?

”Melissa.” Hailey Hale wasn’t aware yet; she stood by the bedside, kindly asking, ”What do you want to eat? We’ll get it for you.”

”You go get it.” Melissa eyed her, ”Finn can stay with me.” Looking as if the weaker has the upper hand.

Their gazes met, and Hailey nodded, ”Alright! So what do you want to eat?”

”I know what she wants to eat.” Finn took Hailey’s hand, ”Let’s go get it for her.” With that, Finn led Hailey out of the ward.

”Hey!” Melissa was truly speechless, ”Will you die if you’re apart for a second?”

Outside the ward, Hailey followed behind Finn, ”Hey, what’s up? What’s wrong?” sensing something amiss.

A few meters away, Finn stopped, released Hailey’s hand, and held her shoulders against the side of the corridor, ”Dr. Shelby sent a message; he said Melissa has at most one month left, late-stage lung cancer.”

”What?!” The girl’s eyes were filled with shock, ”She’s going to die?? She...”

”So during this time, I need to trouble you.” Finn still had some conscience, ”Try to be more tolerant of her; I also plan to spend more days with her.”

”But she’s still so young...” Hailey couldn’t accept it, her brows knitted, ”How could it be late-stage lung cancer? Dr. Shelby is so capable; does he have no way either?”

Hailey Hale didn’t want Melissa to die in her heart.

”If he had a way, he wouldn’t need us to say anything, as a doctor with a caring heart.” Finn also felt remorseful.

”...”

So now, the most saddened ones are the elders of The Monroe Family.

”I’ll go buy her breakfast, she’ll eat whatever I buy.” Finn said, ”You go in first, don’t tell her about this yet, so she doesn’t have a heavy heart; whether to tell her or not should be decided by her parents.”

”Do her parents know?”

”I think they probably know. Ian Shelby called them out, he most likely told them in person.”

”Hmm...”

Finn squeezed her shoulders, ”Go ahead.” Then turned and left.

Hailey Hale arrived at the door of the ward with mixed feelings, just as Zachary Merce and Claudia were coming towards her.

Everyone’s gazes met, and from their expressions, Hailey Hale could feel their helplessness and sorrow.

Traces of tears were in their eyes.

”Uncle, Aunt...” Hailey Hale didn’t know how to comfort them either, ”Finn went to get breakfast for Melissa, I’ll go in and check on her first.”

So, Finn knew too?

Claudia’s heart ached, unable to accept the fact that her daughter was leaving this world; it was too sudden, without any psychological preparation.

”Alright, Finn has gone to get it for you, do you want some water?” Hailey Hale approached the bed, asking warmly, with a smile on her lips, ”We’re all happy you woke up.”

Melissa was a bit surprised, ”Why did you let him go alone? Aren’t you his shadow?”
