Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch

The rain falling over the industrial rail yards of Zurich-West at six in the morning was thin, cold, and smelled of wet gravel and transformer oil.

Forty heavy tractor-trailers, their sides mud-splattered from the snowy crossing of the Gotthard Pass, pulled into the gated logistics depot of the Alpine Freight Terminal.

The drivers, operating under Jean-Luc’s forged customs papers, backed their trailers into the unlit unloading bays, locking their air brakes with deep, rhythmic huffs of exhaust.

Above the terminal, the glass skyscrapers of the Financial District gleamed like tall, sterile needles against the grey Swiss sky, completely unaware that three hundred elite guild hunters lay extracted beneath dark star-iron armor inside the trucks below.

Renan did not step out onto the asphalt of the loading bay.

He stood inside the dark interior of the lead refrigeration trailer, his woolen coat wrapped tight, his violet eyes looking down at the concrete floor beneath his boots.

Beside him, Sylas held a handheld spatial scanner whose digital display was flickering violently with crimson error ciphers.

”The primary suppression field begins ninety feet below the asphalt, Sovereign,” Sylas whispered, his voice soft as falling ash. ”The bankers did not merely reinforce the granite. They anchored four ancient runic monoliths directly into the bedrock. Any attempt to blink or open a shadow gateway within six hundred feet of the vault will tear the caster’s physical body into microscopic ribbons.”

Renan reached down, resting his pale fingers against the cold steel floorboards of the trailer.

Through his skin, the twin-chambered core in his chest sent a subtle, low-frequency pulse of twenty-two thousand units of Sovereign density vibrating down through the tires, through the concrete foundation, and deep into the ancient Alpine granite below.

”An anti-spatial barrier relies on the stability of the stone to hold its runes, Sylas,” Renan spoke softly, his voice calm and unhurried.

Shadow Knight Arthur adjusted his grip on his claymore, his star-metal pauldrons casting soft, silver-violet reflections across the corrugated aluminum walls of the truck.

”The stone belongs to Thorne, Sovereign,” Arthur noted.

”Indeed,” Renan replied.

Renan closed his right hand into a loose fist.

Sixty feet beneath the logistics depot, inside a silent geological drainage tunnel cut during the nineteenth century, the solid granite did not shatter or explode.

The atomic structure of the stone softened, yielding to the gravimetric pull of Renan’s core like warm wax under steady thumb pressure.

A vertical shaft six feet wide, perfectly smooth and lined with glassy, fused quartz, opened straight down into the earth, bypassing the electronic motion sensors and pressure plates embedded in the upper concrete foundations.

Renan stepped through the floor of the trailer, dropping into the dark quartz shaft without making a sound.

Arthur and Sylas followed immediately behind him, their silhouettes vanishing into the vertical abyss like two falling stones.

They descended six hundred feet in four seconds, their downward velocity decelerated to a gentle stop three inches above a wide catwalk forged from dark, cold-rolled tungsten armor plate.

The air at six hundred feet smelled of dry ozone, chilled helium, and the unmistakable, sweet copper scent of high-purity unrefined mana-ores.

Standing before them in the subterranean darkness sat the outer perimeter bulkhead of Zurich Vault Number Zero.

It was not an old stone archway or a conventional bank vault door.

It was a forty-foot sphere of forged tungsten-carbide steel, eighteen inches thick, set flush into the hollowed granite cavern. Across its dark curved face, four circular anti-spatial suppression monoliths, three feet in diameter and carved from pale abyssal quartz, glowed with continuous, blinding gold light, casting sharp shadows across the vaulted cavern ceiling.

A high-frequency electronic hum vibrated through the air, carrying thirty thousand volts of enchanted lightning through the surface plating of the sphere.

Sylas dropped onto one knee at the edge of the catwalk, examining the gold monoliths through his optical visor.

”The lock is active, Sovereign,” Sylas reported, his fingers tracing the air two inches from the golden light. ”The four monoliths are synchronized via a quantum satellite link directly to the Swiss Banking Consortium’s main server in Zurich. If any monolith suffers a drop in voltage or physical damage, the emergency protocol will dump twelve thousand gallons of liquid thermite into the inner storage chambers, incinerating the paper ledgers and collapsing the ceiling.”

Renan walked to the center of the catwalk, stopping three paces from the giant tungsten sphere.

He looked up at the four glowing gold monoliths, his violet pupils reflecting the cold, artificial radiance of the bank’s ultimate line of defense.

”They built a lock that destroys the room if the key is stolen,” Renan said, his voice flat, analytical, and untouched by hesitation.

”A coward’s security system,” Arthur grunted, his hand resting on his sword hilt. ”They would rather burn the harvest than see a scavenger eat.”

Renan reached into his woolen coat pocket, pulling out the small, dark obsidian core he had crushed during the battle at the Nero Trench, its powdered residue still clinging to his fingertips.

He raised his bare right hand, extending his index finger until the tip hovered half an inch from the central gold monolith.

He did not strike the quartz. He did not channel the destructive dragon-flame of Ignis or the kinetic impact of Vance’s rail cannons.

A thin, hairline thread of silver-violet mana, thinner than a strand of spider silk, jumped from Renan’s fingertip into the golden center of the monolith.

The gold light did not flicker or flare into an alarm state.

The ancient runic frequencies carved into the quartz were not broken; they were rewritten at the fundamental level of their mana lattice, their internal logic aligning with the twenty-two thousand units of core density hummed by the twin-chambered heart beneath Renan’s ribs.

To the automated central server three miles above in the Financial District, the four monoliths did not report a breach or a voltage drop.

They reported that the Supreme Chairman of the Swiss Banking Consortium had just stepped onto the catwalk to conduct an official, authorized audit.

CLICK!

A deep, mechanical clack echoed from inside the tungsten sphere, loud as a cannon shot in the quiet cavern.

The four gold monoliths shifted thirty degrees counter-clockwise, their brilliant radiance dimming into a soft, subordinate argent twilight.

With a long, terrifying hiss of escaping chilled nitrogen gas, the eighteen-inch tungsten door unlatched its twelve internal locking bolts, sliding slowly back into the cavern wall to reveal a wide, dark corridor illuminated by rows of soft blue emergency floor lights.

From the deep interior of the vault, a wave of dense, icy air rushed out onto the catwalk, carrying the overwhelming, intoxicating pressure of ten thousand tons of unrefined Tier-S mana-ores.

Arthur took a deep breath, his visor flaring with bright argent light as his boots touched the threshold of the open corridor.

”The door is open, Sovereign,” Arthur said.

Renan stepped across the threshold, his dark coat sweeping past the heavy tungsten bolts as he entered the inner sanctuary of the world’s wealthiest banking syndicate.

”The door was open the moment they printed the bounty, Arthur,” Renan replied softly.

He walked ten paces into the blue-lit corridor, stopping before a massive reinforced glass observation window overlooking the primary vault chamber.

Below the window, sprawling across a subterranean hall two hundred yards long and fifty feet high, sat row upon row of reinforced titanium storage cradles, holding thousands of glowing, translucent mana-ore crates, gold bullion stacks, and preserved monster cores worth more than the national budgets of three European nations combined.

Yet as Renan looked down into the vast treasure house, his violet eyes caught a sudden, subtle flicker of movement among the shadow of the central aisle.

Standing in the center of the vault hall, clad in heavy gilded plate armor forged from refined star-gold, twelve silent sentinels seven feet tall turned their heads in unison toward the observation window, their broad swords igniting with blinding, holy light.
