Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door

Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Today is a Holiday

”Get up. I forgive you. As for your dad, he has already received the punishment he deserves. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways.”

Regarding the man in front of her, Hua Buwan didn’t really care about forgiving him or not. As long as he didn’t provoke her, she wouldn’t go looking for trouble either. They could just treat each other as strangers.

”Get up,” Hua Buwan repeated, looking out the door. The street was empty at the moment; otherwise, a crowd of busybodies would have gathered, and all sorts of rumors would be flying around.

Zhou Qingcheng finally stood up. He took a long, deep look at her and said in a low voice, ”I’ll head back first, then. I’ll renovate the shop next door and reopen it, though it won’t be a pawnshop anymore.”

”Mhm. I wish you a prosperous business,” Hua Buwan said lightly with a faint smile. She wouldn’t be interacting much with this man anyway—after all, looking at him would only remind her of his father.

”Mhm.” Zhou Qingcheng nodded, turned around, and left.

Hua Buwan waited until he was far away before continuing to scroll through short videos on her phone. She was so engrossed that she didn’t even notice when Ling Qianjun arrived.

When Ling Qianjun walked in, he saw Hua Buwan staring fixedly at her screen, the volume turned up high. He pricked up his ears and caught a few words.

”Neutral, pull the handbrake...

”Starting on a slope is where the engine stalls most easily. Now, I’ll teach you how to smoothly drive up a hill...”

Curious, Ling Qianjun walked up behind Hua Buwan and stared at the phone screen as well. So, this was driving... He wanted to drive too. He wanted to drive with Buwan...

Once Hua Buwan finished a video, she felt thirsty. Reaching for some water, she suddenly realized a large shadow was looming over her back. Her heart skipped a beat as she thought, ”No way. Did that Qingcheng guy come back already? When did he get behind me?”

Just as Hua Buwan’s imagination began running wild, Ling Qianjun spoke up. ”Finished watching?”

Recognizing Ling Qianjun’s voice, her heart immediately settled. She turned back with a smile and tilted her head up to look at him standing behind her. ”When did you get here? Why didn’t you say anything when you came in?”

Ling Qianjun pointed at the phone screen. ”I saw you were engrossed in it, so I didn’t disturb you. I remember you mentioning before that you were going to take a driving test. Is it for this?”

Hua Buwan nodded quickly. ”Yes, there are four exams in total. I just finished the first written test. The next two are practical driving tests, so I wanted to watch more videos to prepare.”

Although Ling Qianjun had never driven this kind of iron vehicle, he had driven horse and ox carts before, so he had some experience. ”When it comes to driving, you have to get hands-on to learn it. What you learn from books will always be superficial; true mastery requires personal practice.”

”You’re exactly right. I’ll have to get in a car and practice driving later. When the time comes, there will be an instructor beside me to teach me. But since I’m free right now, I’m just looking up some tips.” Hua Buwan stood up and looked out the window. Unknowingly, dusk was already approaching, and the rain had stopped.

”Tomorrow is the Zhongyuan Festival where I’m from. Is it the same here?” Ling Qianjun asked in a low voice, following Hua Buwan’s gaze outside.

”The Zhongyuan Festival?!” Hearing this, Hua Buwan didn’t even answer before immediately pulling out her phone to check the lunar calendar. Today was the fourteenth day of the seventh lunar month?!

Usually, living alone and running the supermarket, she didn’t pay much attention to what day of the week it was, taking things one day at a time. She hadn’t expected the Ghost Festival to arrive in the blink of an eye.

Here in Lingnan, they celebrated the Zhongyuan Festival on the fourteenth day of the seventh month. On this day, adults would tell children not to wander outside at night. Moreover, they would worship the deities in the evening and scatter candies by the roadside.

Hua Buwan thought of her grandparents.
