Hijacking the Timeline

Feng Qi froze, stunned by the email message claiming Le Ping’an was a werewolf.

He had suspected every student, including Le Ping’an, but learning the truth still felt unbelievable.

He held a genuine fondness for this student.

Through their interactions, he had discovered Le Ping’an to be an exceptionally diligent and self-disciplined individual.

Moreover, he had learned how to brew Clear Heart Wine thanks to Le Ping’an’s patient and tireless guidance.

The revelation left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Yet, now that Le Ping’an’s identity as a werewolf was confirmed, Feng Qi would show no mercy.

Driven by lingering doubts, he continued reading the rest of the email.

126. I know you’re shocked. When I learned the truth, I was just as incredulous as you are now, but the facts speak for themselves.

After I got drunk, Le Ping’an escorted me back to my dormitory. During that time, he implanted a monitoring chip inside me.

The entire incident was filmed by a powerful operative sent by the Scarlet Research Institute.

Attached is the video (video attachment).

The video opened with a high-altitude, bird’s-eye view, still rapidly advancing.

Below, Le Ping’an was carrying his future self toward the dormitory building.

After Le Ping’an took his future self into Room 301, the Scarlet Research Institute’s operative transformed into a shadow, slipping through the door crack. The miniature camera was then installed on the ceiling, providing a clear view of the room’s interior.

Le Ping’an removed his shirt, took a chip from his mouth, and used his fingernail to cut open the back of his neck, implanting the chip.

As green light emanated from Le Ping’an’s hands, he cast a healing art magic. The wound on the back of his neck closed at an astonishing rate, leaving no scar.

Next, Le Ping’an helped him put his shirt back on and thoughtfully poured a glass of water, placing it on the bedside table before leaving.

Le Ping’an’s actions had unequivocally confirmed his identity as a werewolf.

This led Feng Qi to suspect that the technology research institute behind Le Ping’an was the dark force itself.

However, one question remained unanswered:

Mo Fei had also worked at the technology research institute. Could he have been completely unaware of these truths all along?

Still puzzled, Feng Qi continued reading through the rest of the email.

127. I woke up today and couldn’t feel the chip at all. But I didn’t remove it, as that would alert them.

This chip will be a crucial clue in my search for the dark force.

129. Now that we’ve confirmed Le Ping’an is a werewolf, the Scarlet Research Institute has launched a covert investigation into him. I expect to have his full profile soon.

134. The Scarlet Research Institute sent me Le Ping’an’s file today.

His parents are core members of the technology research institute and have worked there their entire careers. Based on this file alone, there’s nothing suspicious about them.

Wei Wei contacted me to say that the Scarlet Research Institute’s leadership now suspects the technology research institute itself might be the dark force and is preparing a covert investigation (we communicated via text to avoid the monitoring chip eavesdropping).

The Scarlet Research Institute’s leadership shares my suspicions.

There are now only two possibilities:

1. The technology research institute is the Malignant Faction hiding in the shadows.

2. Le Ping’an and his parents are spies planted within the technology research institute by the dark force.

Either outcome proves that the technology research institute has been infiltrated, and may even be completely controlled by the dark force.

I also can’t dismiss the possibility that Le Ping’an isn’t the only werewolf among the students. In any case, all the other students will now undergo thorough screening and a series of tests.

168. During this period, I continuously exploited information gaps to test all the students. All the others passed the tests, but Le Ping’an once again exposed himself as a werewolf.

Now it’s confirmed: apart from Le Ping’an, all the other students are trustworthy.

171. The Scarlet Research Institute has launched a full-scale investigation into the technology research institute. However, this investigation can’t be conducted openly, as it would inevitably alert the dark force, so progress is extremely slow.

173. Today, while Le Ping’an was home, I summoned all the other students to my room. After thoroughly searching the room, I typed a message on my phone to inform them of the fact that Le Ping’an is a werewolf.

The students were incredulous. Liu Yue even suggested killing Le Ping’an himself.

I immediately rejected Liu Yue’s idea. Le Ping’an was insignificant; the real target was the dark force behind him.

He couldn’t die until we had identified that dark force.

182. Progress in the Scarlet Research Institute Investigation

According to Wei Wei’s report, the technology research institute had indeed exhibited a series of abnormal behaviors.

For example, the institute had rejected a proposal for an Artificial Intelligence project.

The project’s proponent argued that human work efficiency was far too low. They proposed creating an AI system with ultra-efficient processing capabilities to handle existing data in place of humans.

As the AI learned and improved, it could eventually use big data to provide personalized guidance on cultivators’ physical conditions and future development paths.

The project’s proponent was a professor at the technology academy who had already completed the initial framework for the AI.

However, the technology research institute rejected the project before it could fully launch, claiming that current technological capabilities were insufficient to realize such an AI.

True Artificial Intelligence requires a multitude of capabilities, including observation, memory, imagination, creativity, analytical judgment, critical thinking, adaptability, and reasoning.

Simply processing information according to commands is artificial stupidity, not Artificial Intelligence.

Therefore, the technology was rejected, with the academy declaring it would not invest resources or effort into developing Artificial Intelligence.

However, investigations by the Scarlet Research Institute revealed that the professor who proposed the concept had already developed an exceptionally advanced logical algorithm. While it couldn’t grant Artificial Intelligence autonomous consciousness, it could resolve all other challenges.

At the time, major research institutes expressed interest in the technology.

The Future Research Institute even stated that if the technology research institute had no plans for it, they would be willing to take over the project’s development.

But just a month later, the technology academy professor mysteriously died in his dormitory. All his research materials were destroyed, leaving no discernible cause or clues.

In hindsight, it’s highly likely he was assassinated by the technology research institute.

If the technology research institute has been completely infiltrated, they would undoubtedly want to prevent humanity from developing a groundbreaking technology capable of reshaping the future.

If Artificial Intelligence were truly created, humanity’s technology would enter a period of rapid advancement. Moreover, technological progress could also support the development of cultivation studies. This would be disastrous for the dark forces that have always sought humanity’s destruction.

197. Among the current trainees, only Le Ping’an continued to maintain his disguise as usual, while the others played along with his act.

Everyone knew he was a spy except for him, who remained unaware of his exposure.

The trainees were excellent actors. Even Liu Yue interacted with Le Ping’an normally, without drawing his sword against him.

235. The investigation seemed to have hit a bottleneck. The Scarlet Research Institute’s influence couldn’t reach the core areas of the technology research institute.

To uncover the technology research institute’s secrets, the Scarlet Research Institute made a decision: they would cultivate a talent to infiltrate the institute’s inner circles.

But this plan would take time.

The problem was, I could die from some accident at any moment. I felt like I couldn’t afford to wait.

238. Today, I made a decision: I would entrust the organization to Liu Yue, giving him full authority over all subsequent matters.

I’ve decided to join the Scarlet Research Institute immediately to assist in investigating the dark force.

Liu Yue and the others didn’t object to my decision.

They understood my true purpose, which was far more critical than establishing an organization.

Liu Yue also vowed that once the full extent of the situation was uncovered, he would kill Le Ping’an. In the meantime, he would expand our momentum, preparing to declare war on the dark force the moment it surfaced.

241. Preparing to depart for the Scarlet Research Institute, embarking on a new chapter of my life.

I chose not to remove the chip implanted behind my ear. The Scarlet Research Institute intends to use the signals transmitted by this chip to pinpoint the dark force’s location.

However, the institute’s technological capabilities in this area are lacking, and they can’t seek assistance from external research institutes. After all, the potential dark force might extend beyond the technology research institute; seeking help could inadvertently alert the very Malignant Faction we’re trying to expose.

245. Bidding farewell to the trainees, I publicly announced my intention to pursue research in biological sciences and technology.

As for Le Ping’an, I had laid the groundwork months ago.

I had previously hinted, both intentionally and unintentionally, at my deep interest in biological sciences and technology, expressing my hope to develop a groundbreaking Limb Regeneration Technology that could enable humans to regrow severed limbs.

Therefore, when I left, Le Ping’an harbored no suspicions. He merely expressed regret that we would no longer be working together to advance humanity’s progress.

Hearing these words left a bitter taste in my mouth. I desperately wanted to know what he was truly thinking at that moment.

389. Penetrating the technology research institute was clearly not a task that could be accomplished overnight, and the investigation couldn’t be conducted openly. As a result, the information I could obtain was extremely limited, leaving me with no choice but to wait.

During this period, I introduced a series of new technologies within the Scarlet Research Institute, further solidifying their belief in my identity as a transmigrator.

393. The investigation hit a dead end, and the monitoring chip implanted in my body was removed.

Leaving the chip within the Scarlet Research Institute would always pose a potential risk, but I wasn’t worried about alerting the dark force.

From their perspective, they would simply assume I had discovered the chip, without any clear clues as to who had implanted it in me.

Moreover, I hadn’t taken any actions during this time that could genuinely threaten the dark force.

394. After removing the chip, I underwent a series of physical examinations, confirming that all hidden dangers within my body had been completely eliminated.

Today, during my conversation with Wei Wei, I inquired about Mu Yao.

However, the old woman knew very little about Mu Yao—even less than I did.

All she knew was that Mu Yao was a mysterious old woman who had lived for an extraordinarily long time. She had only met her once, and Mu Yao never appeared again afterward.

The old woman believed she would never see Mu Yao again in her lifetime.

But I knew she would encounter Mu Yao one more time—when she created the Suction Cup.

Perhaps Mu Yao considered the Suction Cup to be a new ”miracle,” which prompted her to reappear before the old woman.

429. The investigation remained at a standstill. Today, the Scarlet Research Institute held a meeting.

They decided to release bait to test the technology research institute.

As for what the bait would be, it had to be something that would attract the technology research institute’s attention, forcing them to reveal their true colors.

The meeting lasted most of the day, ultimately deciding to release a groundbreaking technology to capture the attention of the Technology Research Institute.

Whether the technology was actually feasible was irrelevant.

During the discussion, Wei Wei proposed a biotechnology called ”Cellular Rebirth.” This technology aimed to completely resurrect the dead, provided even a single cell remained alive.

With such a technology, humanity would possess an inexhaustible supply of warriors.

The technology didn’t exist, but as long as the Technology Research Institute believed it, they would inevitably try to halt its development.

Before the plan could begin, one crucial question remained: who would bear the risk—who would be the ”initiator” of this technology?

Wei Wei volunteered to face the assassination risk, and the higher-ups agreed.

But I voted against it, not out of concern for the old woman, but because I believed that since I was destined to die young anyway, I might as well take the risk myself.

Moreover, my development of Limb Regeneration Technology had already caused a sensation in the outside world. Proposing an even more groundbreaking technology would seem logical.

If I were assassinated, I could entrust my email account to Wei Wei, allowing her to continue gathering intelligence in my stead.

529. The plan officially commenced. The top executives of the Scarlet Research Institute collaborated on a 65-page report that sounded incredibly impressive. It outlined the concept of ”Cellular Rebirth Technology” and declared to the world that this technology was entirely feasible.

As expected, the report caused a sensation across major research institutes.

I, as the one who had ”proposed” the concept, was thrust into the spotlight. Research institutes and online commentators alike showered me with praise, with some media outlets even publishing articles claiming I would lead humanity to victory.

Now, the dark force was undoubtedly watching me closely, and I was constantly at risk of assassination, trembling with fear.

During this time, the Scarlet Research Institute secretly deployed informants near the technology research institute to monitor its movements.

The bait had been set; now we only needed the dark force to take the hook.

If we confirm that the technology research institute is indeed the dark force, you must not hesitate or show mercy when you return to reality. Only then can we launch a series of ”malignant faction eradication” operations.
