Hijacking the Timeline

Dark clouds hung low, and Yin winds howled.

Opening his eyes, Feng Qi found himself in a hellish, dimly lit landscape.

Gazing at the horizon, he saw lightning flashing and thunder rumbling through the churning black clouds, with faint glimpses of dragon-like silhouettes coiling and weaving through the tempestuous sky.

Ahead stretched a road paved with bleached bones, its end lost in the distance.

Compared to the jarring disorientation he had felt during his first entry into the Dream Realm, Feng Qi now adapted quickly to this environment.

History had undoubtedly shifted again, but one constant remained: the inevitable end of Human Civilization... and Little Cripple, who was struggling to his feet nearby, preparing to perform his signature split.

In response to Little Cripple’s ”enthusiastic” greeting, Feng Qi delivered a flying kick that sent the creature’s head flying over ten meters away.

Interesting. Even with time’s self-correcting nature, and despite the multiple alterations to history, why does Little Cripple always end up by your side? This intrigues me greatly.

”I’m more curious about why little black keeps trying to kill me,” Feng Qi retorted, rolling his eyes as he strode eastward.

He was now eagerly anticipating whether his future self had captured the werewolf during his collaboration with the Scarlet Research Institute.

While searching for the Black Metal Stele of the Shelter, Feng Qi no longer bothered to avoid the living dead. With his current strength, he was virtually invincible in this area.

You’re so awesome! You’ve become the big boss of all the living dead in this region!

Feng Qi: ...

After a thorough search, he finally located the Black Metal Stele.

Upon dripping his blood onto it, a mechanical voice announced activation, and the stele slid to the right, revealing a metallic passage.

A strong, rusty odor wafted out.

Stepping into the passage, he soon found himself before the Database Control Console.

Pressing the red power button, the console, which hadn’t been used in countless years, shuddered violently, sending dust flying.

The large screen in front of the console flickered to life.

Symbols scrolled across the screen before a list of options appeared.

Opening the search bar, he immediately typed in his name and initiated the search.

After a few seconds of waiting, his detailed profile appeared on the screen.

The photo showed him wearing the Scarlet Research Institute uniform, his smile radiant.

Feng Qi (Posthumously Honored as a Hero of the Era)

Age at Death: 28

Cause of Death: Sudden and unexplained death while serving at the Scarlet Research Institute, suspected to be related to chronic overwork.

Date of Death: August 24, 2033

Lifetime Achievements (Honors): S-Class Outstanding Graduate of Star City Academy (Restored), S-Class Human Elite Medal (Restored), Outstanding Contribution to Human Development Award (Restored), S-Class Researcher at the Scarlet Research Institute (Restored)...

Research Contributions: Cultivation Exercises Version 2.0, Fierce Tiger Fist, Founder of the Human Body Deity Seeding Concept, Participant in the 3.77 Version Update of the Cultivation System, Limb Regeneration Technology (Biological Sciences Domain)...

Evaluation: Ranked among the top ten historical geniuses in online polls, Feng Qi’s life was both legendary and filled with heartache and adversity.

By the age of 17, he had already begun to distinguish himself.

First, he revised the cultivation exercises, then developed a series of cultivation techniques including the Fierce Tiger Fist. At this young age, he was awarded the Human Outstanding Contribution Silver Medal.

Following this, Feng Qi demonstrated unparalleled talent, developing three new cultivation techniques in a single year, earning him the title of the era’s greatest genius.

However, Feng Qi’s path to greatness was not without setbacks.

For instance, his unwavering pursuit of Virtual Technology yielded no progress despite massive investment and effort, ultimately proving fruitless.

Yet Feng Qi’s visionary foresight remains undeniable. Though he never completed his virtual game, later generations built upon the Virtual Engine he and Fang Zhiyou had developed, realizing his original concept after 18 years of collecting and inputting art magic data. The result was the groundbreaking virtual game Light of the World.

This innovation finally resolved the safety concerns surrounding combat training for new recruits, leaving a profound impact on the future.

In the years that followed, Feng Qi continued to make significant contributions.

He once formed a domain combat team before abandoning cultivation studies to join the Scarlet Research Institute, where he solved numerous complex problems in biological sciences.

His genius was beyond question. Throughout human history, few could rival his talent.

During his time at the Scarlet Research Institute, Feng Qi was once labeled a ”traitor to humanity” and faced widespread public scrutiny.

However, these doubts were dispelled with the emergence of Light of the World.

History proved that Feng Qi had always been deeply devoted to humanity and had meticulously planned for its future. The honors that had been revoked were restored the year after Light of the World was published.

Liu Meng: Sometimes when I read about Feng Qi’s history, it feels surreal. At his age, I had barely started studying cultivation studies, yet he had already developed several cultivation techniques and received the Human Outstanding Contribution Silver Medal. It really highlights the vast differences between people.

Huang Jiawei: Feng Qi’s genius wasn’t limited to cultivation studies and biological sciences. He also possessed an incredibly forward-thinking mindset. When he first developed Virtual Technology, people criticized him for ”wasting his talent.” But history proved him right. Back then, it was all criticism; now, it’s all praise. It just shows how ignorant and short-sighted people were back then.

Li Chengsi:

Feng Qi’s death remains a historical mystery, unsolved to this day. All we have are speculations.

I refuse to believe he died of sudden cardiac arrest.

A cultivator just dropping dead like that? I heard the Scarlet Research Institute conducts regular physical checkups. How the hell could someone just die suddenly under those conditions? That’s bullshit.

Considering the Scarlet Research Institute’s historical designation as a rogue organization, I’m convinced Feng Qi was killed by them. They couldn’t allow a super genius like him to live and continue driving the progress of Human Civilization.

After reading the Future People’s assessment of himself, Feng Qi felt a mix of amusement and exasperation.

He never imagined that his future self would have all his achievements revoked due to some unknown reason, only to be redeemed as a hero by the emergence of a savior-like virtual game.

He could only imagine the convoluted and treacherous path his future self must have walked in that Future Line.

You used to take the blame for others, and the Future People would casually say, ”It’s all Feng Qi’s fault.” Now, the Scarlet Research Institute is taking the blame for you. But what I’m really curious about is how you actually died in that Future Line.

Feng Qi felt a sense of helplessness about his untimely death.

One thing was certain: his exceptionally short lifespan must have been due to external interference.

Filled with questions, he closed the character information page and typed his email address into the search bar.

After a few seconds, the email interface popped up.

A dense array of messages filled the large screen. In addition to his own name, the right-hand sidebar now listed another name: Wei Wei.

Clearly, his future self had entrusted his email to Wei Wei before his death.

Next, he began reviewing the email content.

4. The wolf hunt has officially begun. Today, I contacted Wei Wei and decided to visit the Scarlet Research Institute. Some things are better discussed in person—who knows if our calls are being monitored? Of course, I’ll say I’m just there for a tour. (Laughing.jpg)

6. I had a long talk with Wei Wei. I didn’t beat around the bush; I told her straight up that I can travel through timelines and have a wealth of information about the future in my mind.

This is also why I’ve been able to develop so many cultivation techniques at such a young age... The old hag Wei Wei thought I was crazy and gave me this ”you’re an idiot” look, saying:

”Show me another time jump, then.”

7. After much discussion, Wei Wei finally believed I’d been to the future. There was a close call in the middle—I almost got arrested by her people.

When I revealed details about the Anti-Infiltration Plan, the Semi-Domain Creature Modification Experiment, the dark world, Mu Qing’s cloning, and other classified information, Wei Wei thought I’d stolen the Scarlet Research Institute’s secrets. She nearly had me imprisoned and tortured for information.

Fortunately, I managed to bring up Mu Yao’s involvement just in time.

Especially because Mu Yao had given her ”youth,” a secret known only to Wei Wei and Mu Yao. When I revealed this secret, Wei Wei finally believed my claims.

12. My appearance prompted the Scarlet Research Institute to convene a top-level meeting, attended by all senior executives. Before entering, they underwent rigorous physical and mental examinations, just as my future self had described, to ensure no eavesdropping devices were present and that no one was under mental control.

During the meeting, I was subjected to intense questioning.

Fortunately, I had prepared thoroughly. I reiterated many secrets of the Scarlet Research Institute and finally revealed the origin of its name.

After hearing my account, the institute’s executives believed me and agreed to cooperate in capturing the werewolf hiding among the trainees.

13. The following day, another meeting was held. I detailed my plan to capture the werewolf to the institute’s executives.

They took the matter very seriously, assuring me that I could contact the institute at any time for assistance. Wei Wei was assigned as my liaison.

They were also desperate for leads to uncover the dark force lurking within Human Civilization.

This werewolf might be the perfect breakthrough point.

My plan required me to continue building the ”Dawn” faction and deliberately reveal my knowledge of the dark force’s existence. This would attract the werewolf’s attention and pique their curiosity about me.

Day 68: I gathered Liu Yue and the others today to tell them the truth about this world—that a dark force lurked within Human Civilization. Then I observed their expressions.

Judging solely by their reactions, everyone seemed genuinely shocked. It was impossible to discern the werewolf’s identity from their faces alone.

But I never expected to expose the werewolf with such a simple test. The next step was to build momentum and set a trap for them.

Day 121: The trap was simple: I planned to create an opportunity for the werewolf to implant a monitoring chip into my body.

Such opportunities would be rare, occurring only when I was completely off guard.

Recalling the information left by my future self, I remembered Mu Qing’s celebration banquet for establishing Dawn. By then, my future self had already established the dark force, and the trainees were aware of the Malignant Faction lurking within Human Civilization.

(Author’s Note: This content was originally included in the final fragment of Chapter 58.)

Perhaps it was at that banquet that the chip was implanted in me. Otherwise, I would never have been unconscious under normal circumstances, as I rarely drink alcohol.

124. Just today, the Scarlet Research Institute sent me a case of Merit Wine, citing my Human Body Deity Seeding Concept’s significant contribution to the advancement of human biological sciences. In short, they were creating a pretext for celebration to lower the werewolves’ guard and allow them to implant a monitoring chip in me.

125. The werewolves aren’t fools. To trap them, I had to get genuinely drunk; feigning sleep would only arouse their suspicion and ruin the plan. They might even realize I’ve begun to suspect my own students.

But I had a contingency plan. I’d already contacted Wei Wei, and now powerful agents from the Scarlet Research Institute are secretly monitoring everything.

When I woke up, the chip had indeed been implanted. But I finally learned the identity of the werewolf lurking in the shadows!

It was Le Ping’an!
