Chapter 996: Chapter 997 Meeting the Parents

Su Wanrou listened to Xu Yan recount the events, and shyly stared at Lin Chen: ”Thank you, you saved me again.”

”Haha, it was nothing. By the way, how much did you borrow from Hei Feng Yilang?” Lin Chen asked.

”Two hundred thousand yen, but now with interest it has become four hundred and fifty thousand.” Su Wanrou said, frowning.

Lin Chen handed the ten thousand yen he just received to Su Wanrou: ”You can take this money. As for the four hundred and fifty thousand, you don’t need to pay it back. If he dares to bother you again, I’ll deal with him.”

”No, I can’t accept this money.” Su Wanrou shook her head.

Lin Chen insisted, ”This is compensation from those thugs, take it quickly!”

”Thank you.” Su Wanrou blushed as she accepted the money.

Xu Yan frowned and said: ”Little brother, this Hei Feng Yilang is not simple. His brother, Hei Feng Mumu, is one of the four generals of Ikeda Corporation and once single-handedly wiped out a hundred-member gang in Shinjuku. He’s a real killer for Ikeda Corporation.”

”Four generals? Haha, don’t worry, if they dare to make trouble again, I’ll show them what it means to regret.” Lin Chen said nonchalantly.

”But after all, I owe them money...” Su Wanrou said, feeling torn.

”If they were asking for money fairly, that would be another matter, but they’re using such despicable means. It’s lucky I haven’t charged them for damages yet. Leave this to me, you don’t need to worry.” Lin Chen said coldly.

”What kind of illness does your father have?” Lin Chen asked curiously.

”My father doesn’t have an illness; he was injured when he was young. This injury flares up every few years, and recently the episodes have become more frequent and extremely painful. Only a foreign painkiller can relieve it.” Su Wanrou sighed.

”There’s actually such an ailment? Alright, I’ll go home with you and have a look.” Lin Chen said with a smile.

”You? Right, I almost forgot you are an expert in traditional Chinese medicine.” Su Wanrou said, excited.

Lin Chen and Su Wanrou left the bar, and Lin Chen chuckled: ”Let’s go, take me to meet your parents.”

Su Wanrou’s face flushed red: ”What nonsense are you saying? I’m not your girlfriend.”

”By the way, why is your family in the Island Nation instead of staying in China?” Lin Chen asked, puzzled.

”I don’t know why either. I came to China with my father when I was young. I asked him about it, but he didn’t tell me.” Su Wanrou replied.

”I see!” They caught a cab, and half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a rundown two-story house.

”This is my home; it’s just the house is a bit old.” Su Wanrou said shyly.

”Haha, this is like a small villa. In China, a place like this would easily be worth millions.” Lin Chen said, laughing.

”You can’t compare like that.” Su Wanrou replied, her face turning red.

Arriving downstairs, Lin Chen saw a convenience store: ”Wait a moment, I’ll go in and buy something.”

Shortly after, Lin Chen came out carrying two boxes of cigarettes and two bottles of wine.

”Lin Chen, what are you doing with this?” Su Wanrou asked, puzzled.

”Visiting the in-laws, of course I need to bring some gifts!” Lin Chen said with a smile.

Upon hearing Lin Chen’s words, Su Wanrou’s face turned even redder.

Lin Chen laughed: ”After all, your dad is an elder. It’s an old Chinese custom to prepare gifts when visiting elders!”

”Lin Chen, you’re too kind.” Su Wanrou said helplessly.

As they reached the door, a cheerful little girl just back from school ran over: ”Wanrou sister, is this your boyfriend?”

”Ya Zi, what nonsense are you saying? He’s not.” Su Wanrou said, her face blushing red.

”Haha, sister’s face is all red, he definitely is.” Ya Zi said, laughing.

Then Ya Zi walked over to Lin Chen with her hands behind her back, scrutinizing him: ”Hmm, not bad, brother is quite handsome.”

Lin Chen smirked proudly: ”Little one, you have such good taste. I am Wanrou sister’s boyfriend.”

”Hmph, you better not bully Wanrou sister, or I won’t let you off.” Ya Zi said, making a threatening gesture with her little fist.

Listening to their banter, Su Wanrou’s face turned as red as a cherry.

At that moment, the door suddenly opened, and a middle-aged woman walked in from outside.

Ya Zi said cheerfully: ”Aunt Su, sister Wanrou brought her boyfriend home.”

Poof!

Both Lin Chen and Su Wanrou were embarrassed by Ya Zi’s words.

Lin Chen had only been joking with Ya Zi, not expecting Su Wanrou’s mother to come out.

Su Yaxin was initially surprised, but upon seeing the gifts in Lin Chen’s hand, her face broke into a wide smile.

”Wanrou, you child, if your boyfriend is coming, you should say so earlier, then I can prepare some food.” Su Yaxin said happily.

”Mom, it’s not what you think.” Su Wanrou explained hastily, her face blushing.

”Alright, I understand, girls grow up and should find boyfriends early. Don’t listen to your dad; I’ll decide on this. If he dares disagree, I won’t let him off.” Su Yaxin said with a smile.

Lin Chen also smiled: ”Hello, Aunt.”

Su Yaxin looked Lin Chen up and down like a mother-in-law evaluating her daughter’s beau: ”Not bad, looks like an honest young man, please, come in.”

The three of them entered the house, and as soon as they were inside, Su Yaxin called out: ”Old Lin, our daughter brought her boyfriend home.”

At the call, a middle-aged man wheeled out from inside the house.

The man was in his fifties, and although his face was somewhat pale, he still exuded a certain firmness.

Seeing the middle-aged man, Lin Chen’s gaze tightened, then fixed intently on him.

Lin Haotian was also assessing Lin Chen, with a glint of indescribable awareness in his eyes.

His hands tightly gripped the wheelchair handles, seeming somewhat anxious.

”Old Lin, this is Wanrou’s boyfriend, Lin Chen.” Su Yaxin said smiling.

”You’re also a Lin?” Upon hearing Lin Chen’s name, the middle-aged man’s eyes narrowed.

Lin Chen smiled: ”Yes, indeed. It’s quite a coincidence we share the same surname, Uncle Lin!”

Suddenly Lin Chen realized an inconsistency; according to Chinese customs, Su Wanrou should have her father’s surname. Why did she carry her mother’s surname, Su?

Quickly recovering from the momentary lapse, Lin Haotian gently smiled: ”Ah, so you are Wanrou’s boyfriend, very good, very good!”

Seeing Lin Haotian’s demeanor, Su Wanrou froze.

Her father had always been vehemently opposed to her having a boyfriend. She remembered when she was in high school, she brought a boy home and her father nearly broke the boy’s leg.

A colleague had sent her home a few days ago, and her father was ice cold. But why was he so friendly upon seeing Lin Chen?

Blushing, Su Wanrou explained: ”Mom, Dad, you’ve misunderstood. Lin Chen is not my boyfriend; he’s a traditional medicine doctor I brought to see Dad’s illness.”

Though after two days of knowing Lin Chen, Su Wanrou liked him quite a bit, becoming boyfriend and girlfriend overnight and meeting the parents just seemed too fast!
