Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 42: Chapter 36: Boiler Elephant

Scavenger City was still the same Scavenger City, but perhaps because his perception had increased, Gao Gong could clearly feel that this Metropolitan Area had become more dangerous.

It was like this place was originally just a Beast Nest, and now it was a giant beast with a bloody maw.

’This is not great, usually only an A-level Beast God General is born with such powerful Biological Will.’

’This level of intensity is already close to a future Armed Beast Nest; but if it really were an Armed Beast Nest, how did the Security Corps win this battle?’

According to normal history, before the Hydra Battle, Iron Sand Desert was always within the radiation range of Mechanical City’s influence; it wasn’t until after that battle concluded that Iron Sand Desert truly became a monster’s heaven.

Thinking of this, a famous quote suddenly popped into Gao Gong’s mind.

Destroy one hundred million enemies, advance a thousand miles. Fortress in the southeast, commanding view over central plains.

Gao Gong’s mouth twitched.

No way, it’s forgivable if I fake a match, but you guys too? You are regular troops, with a license!

The sound of rustling suddenly came from the distant grass, Gao Gong suddenly turned around and shouted, ”Who?!”

”It’s me, it’s me, Mr. Gao, do you still recognize me?”

A pockmarked face sheepishly crawled out from the grass, along with him were two fierce-looking natives holding steel rods.

”Oh, you guys are here,” Gao Gong’s expression softened slightly, glancing at the campfire not far away.

”Yes, Mr. Gao, did you call us over for something this time? Um, haha, I wonder if you brought supplies this time.”

Gao Gong frowned and said, ”Supplies are naturally brought, but why is it you again and not my good friend Huang Yuanli?”

”Her, she really has something to do, oh right, she also asked me to bring you a token.”

The pockmarked face fished out a small butterfly hairpin from his pocket, indeed it was Huang Yuanli’s treasure.

Gao Gong’s expression was calm, but a trace of coldness flashed in his eyes, which indicated that Little Woman’s days were even harder than imagined.

He coldly said, ”I am helping you out of necessity due to my friend, if Huang Yuanli is not around, or has encountered some trouble, then my supplies won’t be given to you.”

The pockmarked face awkwardly laughed and said, ”Mr. Gao, don’t misunderstand, we are all friends, Sister Yuanli has no problem in the tribe, it’s just that she’s really tied up. Otherwise, why would she have me bring this little clip, just to prevent you from misunderstanding.”

Gao Gong showed a hesitant expression, remaining silent, the pockmarked face kept signaling the other two, indicating they shouldn’t be impulsive.

However, finally, one person couldn’t hold back, suddenly pulling out a pistol from his pocket, the dark muzzle pointing directly at Gao Gong.

He viciously said, ”The tribe has been out of food for almost three days, to hell with it, let’s grab the food first!”

The pockmarked face finally changed his expression, exclaiming, ”We can’t do this, Mr. Gao is a friend of our tribe, have you forgotten who rescued our expedition team?”

”Who cares who rescued them! I wish those lunatics would all die, without them, we’d be living well!”

”It must be those science lunatics that brought down retribution, that’s why our tribe is in this situation!”

”They should all be sold into slavery, that way we can protect the tribe!”

Under this person’s incitement, the other person also made up his mind, gripping the steel rod with both hands, and aggressively approached.

Seeing this, Gao Gong calmly said, ”The stuff is in the trunk, but this is the last time I’m delivering, don’t expect a next time.”

”Next time, huh, next time our tribe will have long left!”

The gun-wielding person sneered, simultaneously pointing the gun at Gao Gong and walking to the rear of the off-road vehicle, opening the trunk with his other hand.

Inside, there was no food, only some high-tech looking gadgets, somewhat like—Professor Han’s laboratory stuff?

”You—”

Just as the person was in a daze for a moment, a Human-headed Dog lying limp in the back seat suddenly leaped up, its forelimbs ejecting steel needles, piercing into the person’s scapulae, while the metallic head viciously slammed into the person, knocking him to the ground but still keeping on ramming.

It looked like a human-like dog was performing a high-intensity ’kissing scene’.

The other two Human-headed Dogs also immediately jumped down from the car, pouncing left and right on the other person, who knocked one away with a steel rod, only to be bitten in the groin by the other, screaming in pain, creating an even less suitable-for-children scene.

Cold sweat poured from the pockmarked face as he watched Gao Gong calmly pick up the gun from the ground and leisurely walked over.

Recalling what happened to Professor Han and the others in the tribe, he felt his days were numbered.

”Can you give me an explanation?” Gao Gong leisurely said, while not far from him, the two men were barely alive, one with a face full of blood, the other with a crotch full of blood, the latter seemingly in worse condition than the former.

The pockmarked face’s mind was a whirl of thoughts, but the moment Gao Gong pulled the slide, he immediately became honest: ”Professor Han and Sister Yuanli were detained, as soon as Professor Han returned to the tribe, he was captured, Sister Yuanli had her freedom restricted, right after you last delivered supplies, Sister Yuanli instigated a riot, which was suppressed by the Great Elder, and was detained just like Professor Han.”

”Instigated a riot? That Little Woman, what did you do to provoke her?” Gao Gong said, surprised.

The pockmarked face shamefully said, ”According to the Great Elder, half the tribe’s members were to be sold to outsiders, in exchange for the other half joining the Flame Apostle.”

”What is the Flame Apostle?” For some reason, Gao Gong inexplicably felt this name was somewhat familiar, as if he’d heard it somewhere before.

”The Flame Apostle is a follower of the God of Radiation and Gunpowder, also his most loyal subordinate, the Great Elder told us, as long as we join the Flame Apostle, our Cable Tribe will be saved!”

The God of Radiation and Gunpowder, now that name was very familiar, on the west of Automobile City, separated by two continents, there was a native warlord.

Gao Gong sneered, ”You all talk so obscurely, you thought you were up to something major, turns out it’s just slave trading.”

In Iron Sand Desert, Scavengers rank at the bottom of the power pyramid.

But even worse than them are the slaves of the native warlord, most of whom are also scavengers captured by the warlord.

This type of slave has another name, which is meat people, as the name suggests, meat livestock.

”Mr. Gao, I advise you not to go in. You’re alone, and our tribe has at least a hundred neural beasts. You can’t compete with that.”

Half an hour later, Gao Gong and Pockmarked Face squatted in a clump of grass, Gao Gong closed his left eye, and his prosthetic eye scanned ahead like a sniper scope.

Two obvious sentries, two hidden ones.

And over a dozen scattered mechanical bio-beasts in various locations.

Gao Gong didn’t expect the Cable Tribe to choose such a bold location, wedged right between two Mechanical Beast Swarms.

And these beast swarms are all D-level.

You should know that back with the expedition, if Gao Gong hadn’t displayed his divine power, ten out of ten of those people would have been wiped out.

And that was just a small beast swarm.

Gao Gong abandoned the idea of a frontal assault and turned to look at Pockmarked Face.

”Do you have a way to get me inside?”

Pockmarked Face shook his head bitterly and said, ”Don’t mention bringing someone else, I can’t even go in myself. Those two you took down were the Great Elder’s confidants. Three went out, and if only one returns, the Great Elder will skin me alive.”

Gao Gong thought for a moment and casually gestured, a human-headed dog poked its head out from the grass.

Then he rummaged through the backpack behind him, pulling out something similar to a ’square dance speaker.’

”What’s this?” Pockmarked Face asked blankly.

Gao Gong ignored him, instead turning the frequency knob on the ’speaker.’ He was adjusting the noise frequency of the ’neural disruptor,’ ensuring it didn’t attract too many creatures.

Finally, Gao Gong pressed the switch.

With a thought, the human-headed dog shot out like an arrow, grabbed the ’speaker’ in its mouth, and ran.

The next moment, Gao Gong also fled the scene like mad.

Pockmarked Face blinked, what’s going on, the man is gone, the dog is gone, and he’s left as a prisoner.

So confused.

However, in the next moment, he was not confused anymore.

At the entrance of the tribe, two mechanical dogs suddenly started barking at the air, seeming as if an invisible intruder had arrived.

A moment later, the two dogs, filled with rage, broke free from their chains and charged towards Pockmarked Face.

Pockmarked Face was shocked, almost reflexively running in the direction Gao Gong had escaped.

In the next moment, startled birds flew, and a flock of metal sparrows flew out from the tribe, heading in the same direction as the mechanical dogs.

After that, a herd of mechanical beasts, flying, running, and climbing, charged through where the two had just been staying.

If Pockmarked Face had been half a step slower, he would have been trampled to death in a beast tide.

”What exactly did you do?”

Pockmarked Face crawled and ran up to Gao Gong, exclaiming in fright.

However, Gao Gong was also looking dazed.

”You—”

Pockmarked Face still wanted to say something, but ’boom,’ ’boom,’ ’boom,’ the sound like a giant forge hammer pounding hot iron suddenly roared, loudly spreading in all directions.

A giant leg as thick and tall as a large tree descended from the sky, crushing the metal vines beneath it.

This giant leg didn’t seem like a mechanical leg, but more like a prosthetic leg, smooth on the surface except at the joint.

”Boiler elephant! How is it out!?”

The prosthetic elephant was a C+-level mechanical bio-beast, settled beside the Cable Tribe, feeding on metal bark and leaves, usually with a gentle temper.

’Woo—’

As the elephant’s trunk let out a sound like a train whistle, high-temperature steam rose within a range of several miles, engulfing swathes of forest.

Fortunately, Gao Gong’s desert skin was heat-resistant, but Pockmarked Face was out of luck, like someone thrown bare into a bathhouse of boiling water—the hottest pool.

His skin reddened visibly, his pockmarked face turning crimson like a pomegranate.

Pockmarked Face clenched his teeth, barely holding back a scream.

Suddenly, Gao Gong’s expression changed as he felt a powerful threat from above. Looking up, a huge bird shadow, as big as a bomber, flashed through the sky above the mist.

He vaguely heard the sound of missiles being launched from aircraft.

About ten seconds later, a dense column of fire soared into the sky from the direction where the human-headed dog was escaping.

Gao Gong was silent for a moment before sending the human-headed dog one last command—

Run as far as you can, don’t come back.
