Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 37: Chapter 31: Factory Peril

In the Iron Sand Desert, E-level beast swarms don’t necessarily have D-level leaders, but D-level beast swarms will certainly have a C-level Radiation Beast Commander.

The higher the level of a Radiation Beast, the more likely it is to form a Genetic Territory.

They need their kind to share the backlash of high-temperature radiation.

The Plunderer Squad wanting to hunt D-level beast swarms cannot be said to lack ambition.

Even as Manager Zhou felt happy, he was quickly entangled by another problem.

Someone died in Petrol Town!

A Mechanical Hunter was killed, his chest torn open, and some mechanical parts from his body were eaten clean.

It wasn’t a murder, but a wild beast sneaked in and ate people.

And it wasn’t an ordinary beast. According to surveillance, there were no traces of the ’culprit’ on any roads that might have passed the deceased’s residence.

This indicates that the ’culprit’ was an Invisibility Beast, though it’s unclear whether it was biologically invisible or using electromagnetic interference. The former could be detected by an Infrared Horizon, similar to a chameleon, while the latter is troublesome as it can not only become invisible but also disable electronic devices.

Petrol Town is the rear area; if it can sneak in here, it can undoubtedly reach the Security Corps’ station.

Manager Zhou gritted his teeth.

”Double the defense force; important locations should have both robots and live guards!”

”Also, notify those slackers to take action quickly, or I’ll have them pulled back to guard the headquarters!”

The communicator quickly relayed the message to the front lines.

”Heh, it’s about time he got anxious.”

Wilson tossed aside the two-way radio and twisted his thick neck.

”Boys, get ready; we move tonight!”

Meanwhile, at the communications station, Huang Wen calmly watched the screen.

On the screen, a line of text repeatedly flashed.

’Radiation value has reached the peak’

’Radiation value has reached the peak’

”Rest assured, we’ll take action shortly.”

Daisila closed the communicator and stood up, removing the Electromagnetic Explosion Shield with her left hand and raising two Magnetic Storm Shock Guns with her right, shouting to her subordinates.

”The day of glorious return, the knight’s expedition!!”

Behind her, dozens of melee Hunters, eyes fierce beyond beasts, brandished swords and knives, roaring wildly.

Southern Line

Desolate No-Man’s Land

An armored vehicle stopped in front of a desolate pile of rubble, and Gao Gong, wearing sunglasses and carrying a long knife, knocked on the car door, waking the drowsy Iron Hide.

”Let’s go, it’s our turn to take action.”

”Finally, it’s time to act,” Iron Hide said with a bit of a daze.

In the back seat, Fat Xiang was still snoring soundly.

”Yes, let’s go.”

Gao Gong had been scouting for three days.

In the end, he decided to make the south the main battlefield, rather than the familiar Western Front.

This place was close to another Oasis, as well as the outskirts of another Metropolitan Area.

However, the industry here was not an automobile park but rather a cluster of abandoned factories.

The Oasis New Steel City was built within an industrial park.

A vast factory district certainly stores a large amount of abandoned metal materials.

This is a natural supply point.

The complex high and low factory environment is suitable for his assassination battlefield.

Gao Gong glanced at the Battlefield Recorder, where a ranking list auto-refreshed on the screen. He looked at the rising newcomers and smiled indifferently.

Fighting with Radiation Beasts before the Radiation Circle is formed is such a fatal act.

Gao Gong’s predecessor saw too many powerful Mechanical Transformers meet miserable ends in this Radiation Zone for various reasons.

Were they not strong?

Or were they not alert enough?

No.

It was their arrogance!

The sky was dim, but in the abandoned steel factory, it was still ’brightly lit’. After the Radiation Circle formed, the factory’s electric circuits began to operate autonomously, some mutated seeds took root along the cables, growing all the way to the circuit box, and many metallic vines started covering the factory’s exterior; some crude fruits glowed like bulbs.

If this situation developed for another ten years, who knows if it wouldn’t form another Metropolitan Area here.

The armored vehicle stopped a hundred meters away from an abandoned factory.

Iron Hide was visibly excited, rubbing the steering wheel repeatedly.

After many years, he once again felt the thrill of delivering goods for the ’gang’.

”Brother Gao, don’t you need my help?” Fat Xiang said dumbly.

”No, today we’ll first test the waters.”

If there’s anything to say about these past few days, it’s that he measured Fat Xiang’s attributes.

Name: Fat Xiang

Race: Carbon-Based Mutant Species

Life Value: 530/530

Physical Strength Value: 400/400

Biological Energy: 195

Personal Attributes: Power 27 Agility 8 Endurance 31 Intelligence 3 Perception 6 Personality 17

Skills: Heavy Object Toss lv5, Firearms Repair lv8, Staff Species lv3 (Advanced), Mutated lv2 (Elite)

If the original host had the ’Double Flower Red Staff’ template, then Fat Xiang is definitely a meat shield mode!

No wonder Aunt Xiang trusted him enough to let him out; with this blood volume and physical strength, even if you said he had an elite template for D-level monsters, people would believe you.

But as for his intelligence, it still needs training.

Gao Gong thought for a moment and took out a basket of Hand Grenade Fruits bought from Old Friend Gun Shop.

”Fat Xiang, when Iron Hide opens the car roof later, you’re in charge of throwing the fruits. Wherever there are more monsters, throw it there!”

Fat Xiang nodded vigorously.

”Don’t worry, Brother Gao. I’m very accurate. Whenever my mom starved me, I’d sneak out to hit fruits, and I never missed a shot.”

Gao Gong patted the other’s head.

”Get used to the atmosphere first. Once you’re accustomed to it, we still need you to tank the boss.”

”Boss, can we go now? I feel like some cops have started eyeing us.”

Iron Hide looked exuberant, speaking excitedly in slang.

”Let’s go. Remember, the more noise, the better. But if things don’t look good, run immediately.”

”Don’t worry, boss. I’ve delivered goods for so many years, and I’ve never been caught.”

This guy’s driving skill must be at least lv8.

”Let’s go!”

The armored vehicle roared like thunder, directly smashing the factory gate into pieces. Several small Mechanical Beasts in front didn’t react in time before being rolled under the armor, crushed utterly by 20 tons of pressure without a scream.

Although due to lack of time and funds, Gao Gong didn’t equip the armored vehicle with fierce weapons, the armored vehicle itself is already a ferocious beast.

Gao Gong opened the car door a crack, and three Human-headed Dogs stealthily jumped down from the car door gap.

In Gao Gong’s right-eye horizon, three small red dots were quickly moving in three directions.

The surface of these Human-headed Dogs was implanted with the most basic Desert Skin.

They were no different from those Mechanical Bio-Beasts.

Actually, the role of ’skin’ isn’t to cut off electronic signals but rather to adjust the Biological Magnetic Field to ’digest’ electronic signals in another way.

Therefore, even in such an environment, Gao Gong didn’t worry about using electronic devices being discovered.

Meanwhile, Fat Xiang was like a human grenade launcher, grinning foolishly while his hand didn’t stop. Explosions nearly formed a continuous stream; wherever Radiation Beasts were plentiful, Hand Grenade Fruits surely appeared there, hitting the target with sniper accuracy within 500 meters.

”Got a gem, truly great MT material.”

Gao Gong muttered to himself, flicking his wrist lightly, disappearing from inside the car in the next moment.

The abandoned factory wasn’t just one; there were quite a few. And when the armored vehicle rampaged in the most aggressive manner, it naturally attracted beast swarms to attack.

”Fat Xiang, pull your head back!”

Iron Hide shouted as he crazily turned the steering wheel.

”Oh!”

Almost as soon as Fat Xiang pulled back his head, a string of bullets hit the bulletproof glass.

This wasn’t an enemy attack but from ’Gun Beasts’ within the Mechanical Bio-Beasts.

As the name implies, these Mechanical Beasts can fuse human weapons and feed on bullets.

Some high-level ’Gun Beasts’, their calibers and firepower are no less than Mechanical Hunters.

At a turning corner, the armored vehicle jerked, nearly toppling over.

Fortunately, Iron Hide’s many years of driving black cars weren’t in vain, showcasing excellent driving skills at a critical moment. Fat Xiang seemed totally unaware of being in danger, exclaiming ’wow,’ his chubby face pressed against the glass.

A massive black shadow nearly wrapped around the whole armored car.

Such a huge snake!

Almost escaping the snake’s kiss, above the driver’s seat was another heavy thud, with a noticeable dent appearing above Iron Hide’s head.

Iron Hide trembled with fear, instinctively turning on the roof camera.

On the screen, a metal giant scorpion climbed on top of the armored vehicle.

Its pincers were augmented with jet propulsion devices.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

A series of metal dents emerged.

”Damn! This is way more thrilling than delivery!”

Iron Hide broke out in a cold sweat, urgently stomping the accelerator to traverse crazily through various factory channels. He finally smashed through a lift board, which dropped large amounts of steel, forcing the scorpion back.

Before Iron Hide could catch his breath, a pack of Mechanical Wolves charged aggressively; hanging on the waist of each wolf was a semi-metal, semi-bone machine gun.

Metal raindrops came pouring down.

This is a whole bunch of Gun Beasts!
