Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 6: Chapter 1: Cyber Realm 2

The mechanical head didn’t seem to have any intention of firing another shot, but instead extended a hand to search Gao Gong’s body.

’Is it really going to take advantage of the heat?!’

Just as Gao Gong tightened at the thought, the other party pulled something out of Gao Gong’s pocket.

It was—a reserve citizen’s certificate of the Mechanical City!

This was a treasure coveted by everyone in the Iron Sand Desert!

A small booklet that nearly emptied the original owner’s savings, otherwise, given the original owner’s status, it was unlikely they would do such low-level escort work.

And according to the plan, in a few months, once enough funds were gathered, the original owner would go to that long-dreamed Nightless City with ambitions to make a name.

To become a city dweller!

But—how did the other party know?

As the other party bent over, Gao Gong’s gaze fell on the emblem of a bloody flesh shield and a metal long spear on the grey bulletproof vest of the other party.

’This is... the Biomechanical Knights of Mechanical Split Star?’

Distant memories suddenly became clearer, and when they aligned with ’Gao Gong’s’ memories, Gao Gong was shocked to find that he seemed to have traversed back to the opening of ”Cyber Realm,” specifically the Cyber Test Field, which was commonly known as the Newbie Village, and it was even a year before players descended.

The half-cyborg in front of him was an artificial soldier of the Knight Order, and the Biomechanical Knights (also known as Revenge Knights) were another dark force opposing Mechanical City, aiming to overthrow the rule of Mechanical City, with influences spreading across the post-disaster continent. Rumor has it that the leader of this organization was a military artificial intelligence from the Civilization Era.

’In that case, the ’Beast Mechanical Disaster’ hasn’t started, Nightless City hasn’t fallen, and the Corporate War is still in the planning stage.’

’Memory loss, personality reset, and pheromone virus, these waves of the Cyber Wave are still far away.’

’This planet is still under the operations of the three major Mother Cities?’

’At this point in time... the Knight Order should be preparing to launch the first battle of the Beast Mechanical Disaster—the ’Hydra Battle’!’

’This is a pre-expansion pack that players haven’t participated in!’

”Kill him!” That distorted voice sounded again.

”No, this body is not bad, it will be my collection, I need to keep it fresh for replacement at any time.”

”Agreement... not compliant... with your group’s cooperation...”

”Inferior scum, remember, the Knight Order is not threatened by anyone!”

As the three words Knight Order sounded, an electronic panel suddenly appeared in front of Gao Gong, exposing the attributes of the ’Skull’.

’This is—the system template!’

Gao Gong was both surprised and delighted, and with a thought, sure enough, the familiar panel lit up again.

Wow, these basic attributes, what a Double Flower Red Staff!

The game panel comprises two pages, and upon switching to the second page, a grey box popped up.

’Civilization Template Not Yet Open, please meet the conditions to open it’

Gao Gong’s heart trembled, his eyes complex.

’The game’s forum claims were true! There’s indeed a second civilization template!’

As early as the later stages of the game, many players suspected that ”Cyber Realm” should have another ’Civilization Construction Template’ besides the ’Professional Template’ that came with players, otherwise, by the late game, just relying on players alone, it was nearly impossible to contend with various powerful advanced civilization forces, let alone the massive costs of Civilization Ascension.

During the invasion of the three Celestial Calamities, players were captured, dissected, and studied by various civilization forces, forcibly reverse-engineering an ’npc template’ from the ’player template,’ resulting in NPCs in the game leveling up even faster than players, can you believe it!?

This led to the grinding level of the game skyrocketing, with complaints and demands to adjust the game difficulty flooding the forums daily, yet they were met not with the developers, but with various NPCs tracking them down through the internet.

In reality, massive mechanical arms descended from the sky, alien creatures crossed the atmosphere, artificial intelligence controlled the nuclear arsenals of major countries, and species-borne viruses rampaged across the globe.

The boundary between virtual and real reversed, NPCs became the true advanced players.

Cyber Realm became a cyberpunk of the real world.
