I Became the Strongest Villain in One Piece

Chapter 282: SVOP: Chapter 282

”I don’t know the specifics. But our Phantom Organization conducted an experiment. Once, two of our members had the same dream and even met within it. They jointly fought the Fearful Great Demon King, and managed to slightly injure him. After that, in a subsequent dream, he hadn’t recovered from his injuries.”

Vladimir spoke with a composed demeanor, as if it were the absolute truth. ”From this, we deduced that injuries sustained in dreams are real injuries. As for the dreamer, they suffer no harm, it’s just a dream.”

After speaking, Vladimir turned and walked to the window. ”Sengoku, if you wish to kill the Fearful Great Demon King in a dream, we would be happy to assist. After all... he is the product of a failed experiment, and we cannot let him tarnish the reputation of our Phantom Organization. Well then, farewell.”

With that, he let out a playful laugh and vanished into a beam of holy light.

Sengoku’s gaze was solemn as he pondered Vladimir’s words...

He didn’t believe it, thinking there must be some trap...

The Fearful Great Demon King being related to the Phantom Organization was certain.

But the statement about him being the product of a failed experiment needed careful consideration.

Moreover, killing in a dream sounded unreliable.

But where was the trap?

”What is their objective?” Sengoku frowned deeply, constantly analyzing internally. ”From the beginning, he was guiding me, wanting to use my power to kill the Great Demon King in a dream... But what benefit would they gain from this? Or, is what they said this time true? No, pirates, especially the Phantom Organization, cannot be trusted even a single word!”

He pondered for a full half hour.

Suddenly, Sengoku looked up sharply, then quietly announced, ”In that case, I will see what happens if I kill the Fearful Great Demon King in a dream! Everyone, spread the word through unofficial channels, let more people know about the Fearful Great Demon King, and then...”

Following this, Sengoku began to make arrangements.

He would kill the Fearful Great Demon King in a dream!

He knew that the Phantom Organization must have some ulterior motive, but he couldn’t figure it out yet. Since that was the case, he would follow their lead and test the waters.

As for the story about a failed experiment, he didn’t believe a single word of it.

A group of lawless pirates would reveal such important information?

That was impossible!

Besides, it was just a dream. Death carried no consequences.

...

After obtaining the seven Devil Fruits, Vladimir left Marine Headquarters directly.

He originally had 4 Devil Fruits. Upgrading Shadow Fiend consumed 2, and he obtained 1 from Jack. Now, with the addition of 7 more, the number of Devil Fruits he possessed had reached a total of 10!

”10 Devil Fruits!”

Vladimir nodded with satisfaction. ”I can upgrade Shadow Fiend to five-star all at once. However, I’ll wait for now. Perhaps Caesar will have researched artificial Devil Fruits. If I get a few more, I can use them to upgrade the Archangel or the Great Demon King!”

Shaking his head, Vladimir put them away for the time being, then looked back at Marine Headquarters with a light chuckle.

”Sengoku should be suspicious and uneasy, right? It doesn’t matter. He will definitely try to test it. Once he tests it, I’ll get a lot of fear energy! Hehehehe... Does he think it’s just a dream, so there will be no consequences?”

With a hidden laugh, Vladimir quickly headed towards Undead Island.

...

What would happen if the Great Demon King was killed in a dream?

In the headquarters’ conference room, Sengoku had been contemplating this question.

The Archangel had been subtly guiding him to kill the Great Demon King in a dream. Why in a dream? And why did the Phantom Organization want to kill the Great Demon King?

”The failed experiment is just a pretext, not to be taken seriously. Since even that is false, then their reason for wanting to kill the Great Demon King is invalid... No, let’s consider it from another angle. Perhaps their goal isn’t to kill the Great Demon King. Even killing the Great Demon King is just a pretext. The goal is to make me take this action?”

After pondering for a long time, Sengoku suddenly had a new speculation.

”A million, or even tens of millions of people dreaming, and killing the Great Demon King in their dreams. In this series of actions, what benefit would the Phantom Organization gain?”

Killing the Great Demon King wasn’t the objective. The objective was his actions, the objective was millions of people dreaming. Based on this, he slowly approached the truth.

However, Sengoku still couldn’t figure it out.

If Vladimir knew what he was thinking, he would surely be surprised, because he was already quite close to the truth.

But being close didn’t mean reaching the truth. Moreover, Vladimir had already calculated that even if Sengoku knew there was a trap, he would fall into it. This was inevitable. As long as he remained Fleet Admiral, he couldn’t ignore the ”world-destroying disaster.”

After a long time, Sengoku sighed, rubbed his temples, and muttered, ”The information is unequal. I have too little intelligence. If I could find evidence of the Fearful Great Demon King’s existence in myths and legends, perhaps I could analyze it.”

He paused and then murmured to himself, ”However, at least a few points can be confirmed.”

First, by silently reciting the Fearful Great Demon King’s name before sleeping, one could attract him into their dream.

Second, injuries sustained in dreams would harm the Great Demon King.

”This is just what the Archangel said, its truthfulness is uncertain. Considering it might be a deception, I still need to verify it.” Sengoku’s eyes flickered. ”First, I’ll confirm the truthfulness of these two pieces of information, then spread the word about the Fearful Great Demon King on a small scale. Afterward, based on the reactions of the samples, I might be able to figure out the Phantom Organization’s objective!”

Millions, even tens of millions dreaming, to kill the Great Demon King.

This matter involved too much. Sengoku could only proceed step by step.

First, confirm the truth, then experiment on a small scale. During this process, he might be able to discern the Phantom Organization’s objective and find loopholes in their lies.

If everything went smoothly, what would be wrong with killing him in a dream once?

It was just a dream. He had personally experienced being killed in a dream and it had no lasting impact.

Thinking this, Sengoku spoke again and issued some orders. Finally, he said sternly, ”Although the Fearful Great Demon King is the most urgent matter, do not let your guard down against the Phantom Organization... They are more troublesome than the Fearful Great Demon King!”

...

Undead Island.

At the Archangel’s speed, it only took a few hours to travel from Marine Headquarters to Undead Island.

Before nightfall, Vladimir returned here. Of course, he didn’t appear as the Archangel, but as the Lich King.

The bald man greeted him at the entrance. Upon seeing the Lich King appear, he immediately went to meet him.

”Lord Lich King.”

Vladimir waved his hand and walked into the ancient castle. ”Where is Caesar?”

”In the laboratory.”

”How has his research been during this time?” Vladimir asked.
