Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Chloe Reed clutched her phone tightly, almost convinced the text was from Walker Grant.

’But did he really need to do that?’

During the deal they’d discussed today, he could have simply refused to divorce.

For her own safety, she most likely would have agreed.

’So, who sent me this text?’

’This person knows what’s going on.’

She called the number, but unfortunately, it was already out of service.

’Is the person who wants to kill me wary of Walker Grant?’

’If that wasn’t the case, then why would this mysterious person send me a message like this?’

Her thoughts turned to how she had tested Miles Hawthorne and her plans for Preston Vance.

She had already tested Miles Hawthorne; next up was Preston Vance.

Chloe Reed deleted the text message, then lay down to sleep.

The next day, she printed out a divorce agreement. Once she confirmed there were no issues with the terms, she took it straight to the hospital.

After a night of rest, Walker Grant’s condition had improved significantly.

She presented him with the divorce agreement right away.

Walker Grant took it and began to read it carefully.

After a moment, he looked up at her. ”You don’t want to split our assets?”

Chloe Reed raised an eyebrow slightly. ”And if I did, would you agree?”

”No.”

Walker Grant said bluntly.

Then, he took a pen and signed his name at the bottom.

His decisiveness surprised her.

It also showed her his resolve; he genuinely wanted to end this marriage.

’Good.’

Chloe Reed put the divorce agreement away and said, ”When this is all over, we’ll go register our marriage again.”

”Mm.”

Walker Grant had no objection.

After breakfast, Walker Grant handled some company matters. He glanced at Chloe Reed, who was sitting on the sofa.

He closed the file and said, ”I want to take a shower.”

Hearing this, Chloe Reed’s expression froze. She frowned at him. ”Your wounds haven’t fully healed. You can’t take a shower.”

But Walker Grant said, ”I reek of blood and disinfectant. It’s disgusting. I can’t stand it.”

He gave her a pointed look. ”You promised to take care of me. Are you trying to make excuses now?”

Chloe Reed: ”...”

With a blank expression, she got up and went to the bathroom. She returned with a basin of water and a towel.

She set the basin down, looked at him, and said, ”Take off your clothes.”

Walker Grant was taken aback. ”What are you doing?”

Chloe Reed said, ”You can’t take a shower, but you can have a sponge bath. I’ll give you a quick wipe-down.”

Seeing her accept the task so calmly, Walker Grant was filled with an indescribable feeling.

He raised his hands to unbutton his shirt, but his brow furrowed as he tried to reach the top buttons.

His arm and shoulder were injured, and he couldn’t lift his arm high enough.

Chloe Reed noticed and stepped forward to unbutton his hospital gown for him.

Beneath it, his torso was wrapped in layer upon layer of white gauze, making him look almost like a mummy.

Seeing this, she said, ”There’s no way I can give you a wipe-down like this.”

Walker Grant said, ”Then take off the bandages. I feel absolutely miserable.”

She stared at him for a long moment before saying, ”I’ll go ask the doctor.”

She left immediately, not giving him a chance to protest.

When she returned, a doctor was with her. The doctor said earnestly, ”Mr. Grant, please just endure it for a few more days. Removing the gauze now will hinder the healing process, and doing it repeatedly makes infection more likely. What will we do if something goes wrong?”
