Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Chloe Reed shook off her hand and said with a frown, ”What proof do you have that my grandmother was a mistress? She was your mother, too. How can you talk about her like that?”

Autumn Linton grew even more displeased. ”I wouldn’t lie to you. I heard it with my own ears. Your grandfather and grandmother were fighting, and all the stories from their youth came tumbling out. That’s how I learned that it was your grandmother who meddled and broke up your grandfather and his first love.”

After a pause, she continued, ”And those sapphire earrings were their pledge of love, but your grandmother refused to give them up. That’s why your grandfather died of grief.”

Chloe Reed found it inconceivable. ”Just because of one argument, you’ve decided my grandmother was a mistress? I feel like I don’t even know you. Shouldn’t you be on my grandmother’s side? She was your mother!”

’My grandmother was a kind, gentle, and considerate woman. Her every move spoke of the grace of a lady from a bygone era.’

’How could she possibly have done something like that?’

’Besides, who could really know what happened when they were young?’

’Is there any proof?’

’Isn’t this all based on their side of the story?’

There was no way Chloe Reed would believe Autumn Linton based on just a few sentences.

Her grandmother had been very good to her.

She trusted her grandmother.

Autumn Linton frowned at her. ”You stubborn child, why can’t I get through to you? You say I’m not standing by my own mother, but what about you? Why aren’t you standing by me?”

Chloe Reed’s lips curled into a scornful smile. ”Because you’re a complete failure as a mother. You only have eyes for your adopted daughter, not your biological one.”

Furious, Autumn Linton raised her hand to strike her.

But Chloe Reed stepped back, dodging the blow. Her tone was just as cold. ”The sapphire earrings belonged to my grandmother. There is absolutely no way I’m giving them to Sunny Reed. I don’t care whether the older generation’s drama is true or not. All I know is that my grandmother was very good to me, and I won’t let her down.”

With that, she turned to leave.

Autumn Linton’s voice trembled as she called out, ”Then forget about the Reed family’s shares!”

But Chloe Reed retorted, ”The Reed family shares are mine, too. I’m not handing them over to an outsider.”

Just then, Charles Reed walked over. ”That’s not for you to decide. I can call the lawyer and terminate the agreement at any moment. Chloe Reed, you are far too arrogant.”

They stood opposite her.

The way they looked at her, it wasn’t how parents should look at their daughter.

Chloe Reed took a deep breath. ”If you dare give the shares to Sunny Reed, then don’t blame me for taking her down with me. You know what I’m capable of when I snap.”

Her clear eyes were piercing. ”If you don’t believe me, just try me.”

With that, she strode away.

”She’s completely out of control!”

Charles Reed was furious. He looked at Autumn Linton and asked, ”Was what you just said true?”

Autumn Linton’s gaze flickered before she finally nodded. ”Yes.”

But Charles Reed frowned in confusion. ”Then why is Sunny so desperate for these earrings? Why did she say they’re so important to her?”

Autumn Linton dodged the question. ”You don’t need to worry about that. We already owe Sunny so much. We can’t even grant her this one little wish. What do you think we should do?”

Charles Reed’s attention was quickly diverted. He mulled it over for a moment before saying, ”I’ll go find Walker. He’s the one who won the earrings at the auction, after all. Sunny must have given up the shares so suddenly because of something he said. He has to be the one to solve this.”

Autumn Linton sighed. ”It seems that’s the only way.”
