Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Chloe Reed was on her way out of the villa when she heard a shout from behind her. She froze, and when she turned to look, the color drained from her face.

「The hospital.」

The smell of disinfectant permeated the air, and the atmosphere in the hospital room was somber.

After an examination and having her wound dressed, it was confirmed that Autumn Linton had no serious head injuries, just a mild concussion.

She was sleeping deeply, looking frail.

The door to the hospital room swung open, and Sunny Reed rushed in. Though she wore a mask, it couldn’t conceal her anxious expression. ”Dad, how’s Mom?”

Charles Reed’s expression was grim. ”It’s nothing serious,” he said. ”Why are you wearing a mask? Do you have a cold?”

Sunny Reed instinctively glanced at Chloe Reed before shaking her head. ”Yeah, I have a bit of a cold.”

But Charles Reed didn’t miss the subtle gesture.

He said at once, ”Take off your mask. Let me see.”

But Sunny Reed shook her head. ”I can’t. I really do have a cold. Mom’s already so frail. What if I get her sick?”

”Take it off.”

Charles Reed’s expression darkened.

As if she had no other choice, Sunny Reed reluctantly removed her mask.

Her face was still slightly red and swollen, though it had improved a lot since the morning. It was obvious at a glance that she’d been hit.

Charles Reed glared at Chloe Reed. ”You hit her?”

”That’s right.”

Chloe Reed admitted it readily. ”Does it look uneven? Should I fix the other side for her?”

”You...!”

Charles Reed was about to lose his temper, but a glance at the still-unconscious Autumn Linton made him suppress his anger.

Sunny Reed quickly said, ”Dad, please don’t be angry. It’s all my fault. I’m the one who upset my sister. I deserved to be hit. As long as it helped her feel better, that’s all that matters. I didn’t take it to heart.”

Seeing her act so wronged yet so accommodating, Charles Reed felt a tightness in his chest.

’The Reed family had already failed the Sutton family!’

’And now, he couldn’t even control his own daughter, letting her bully Sunny again and again!’

Charles Reed’s back seemed to hunch over, as if from sheer exhaustion and grief.

A cunning glint flashed in Sunny Reed’s eyes before she said, ”Dad, why don’t you head home first? I’ll stay here with Mom. I’ll let you know the moment she wakes up.”

”That’s not necessary.” Charles Reed waved a dismissive hand. ”I’ll stay here and watch over her.”

So Sunny Reed didn’t insist. She sat down on the other side of the bed, also keeping watch over Autumn Linton.

Chloe Reed sat on a chair in the corner.

’Watching them, they looked like the real family of three.’

’She suddenly began to wonder if she was even the Reeds’ biological daughter.’

’Maybe I should get a DNA test?’

Just as her thoughts began to spiral, the door to the room opened again. Walker Grant’s tall, lean figure stepped inside.

His gaze landed first on Chloe Reed. Seeing she was unharmed, the tension in his face eased.

He then turned to Charles Reed. ”Dad, what on earth happened?”

Sighing, Charles Reed pointed at Chloe Reed. ”It’s because of her, of course...”

Walker Grant’s brow furrowed. But this time, instead of taking the bait, he turned to Sunny Reed and asked, ”Sister-in-law, what have you been telling Mom and Dad this time?”

Sunny Reed’s heart skipped a beat, her expression one of utter shock. ”I... I just got here. What could I possibly have said? Walker, are you accusing me of turning my sister against Mom and Dad?”

Walker Grant’s handsome features were calm. ”And yet, every time Chloe is the one being blamed, you’re always present. It makes one wonder.”

Sunny Reed’s expression crumpled with hurt. ”Walker, you’ve really misunderstood me.”

”Walker, you really have misunderstood Sunny,” Charles Reed said, his voice heavy. ”Just look at her face. Chloe hit her. She’s already admitted it.”
