The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

”Gu Jiaojiao is just slacking off! Leng Yuan tied up all this wheat himself. He didn’t let Gu Jiaojiao lift a finger. She just followed behind him the whole time without even needing to pick up a single ear of wheat. If that’s not slacking off, what is?”

Sun Yeshu pointed at Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao and began her tirade.

Normally, one person would reap the wheat while another bound it, picking up any fallen ears of wheat from the field along the way. It didn’t matter if they didn’t get them all, as children were specifically assigned to glean, and they could exchange what they collected for work points.

But if a man doted on his wife and did the work of two people by himself, it was really no one else’s business.

The workloads were assigned in advance. Before, whoever finished first could leave first. But now, during the busy harvest season, it was a special situation. Anyone who finished early and could do more would be given extra work points.

How a couple chose to get the work done was their own affair. They were one family, after all, and their work points were pooled together.

When Chen Beiguo heard Sun Yeshu’s complaint, he was left speechless.

The people around them looked equally exasperated.

Chen JianShe, however, spoke up directly to defend his Brother Leng and sister-in-law.

”My Brother Leng is happy to help his wife with her work. If you’ve got a problem with it, get your own husband to help you! Don’t blame my sister-in-law just because your man isn’t capable. My sister-in-law is beyond your jealousy.”

”Exactly. No one can find fault with a man who’s willing to help his wife.”

Sun Yeshu remained unconvinced. Puffing out her pregnant belly, she said, ”But I’m pregnant and I still have to work. It’s the busy season, so everyone has to work. Even if Leng Yuan does more, Gu Jiaojiao shouldn’t just be idle. Otherwise, how do you think it makes those of us who are working while pregnant feel?”

Gu Jiaojiao was at a loss. ’This Sun Yeshu must have a hole in her head.’

She told Sun Yeshu plainly, ”Whether you’re comfortable or not, take it up with your husband. It has nothing to do with me. My husband is willing to do my work for me. You can ask your husband to do the same for you. That way you can be idle too, and no one will say a thing.”

A drop of cold sweat trickled down Leng Qingtian’s forehead.

He didn’t have Leng Yuan’s ability to reap wheat and bind it into sheaves at the same time.

The reason the two jobs were separated was precisely because it was too slow for one person to do both.

Splitting them up was faster.

Only a ”non-human” like Leng Yuan, with his immense strength and speed, could handle both tasks so exceptionally well by himself.

Seeing that Sun Yeshu was still not satisfied, the brigade leader immediately spoke up. ”Sun Yeshu, if you’re not happy about it, have your husband do the same. The work has been assigned. If your husband helps you, I have no objections.”

After speaking, he turned to the crowd that had gathered to watch the drama, and his expression darkened. ”What are you all looking at? Don’t you have work to do? If the rain comes, none of you will be getting any grain today!”

Hearing this, everyone knew the brigade leader was getting angry. They immediately dispersed and went back to work.

Everyone was anxious during the busy harvest. On one hand, they wanted to finish early, turn in the grain, and receive their shares. On the other, they were afraid of a sudden rainstorm, which would ruin the harvest.

The brigade leader, afraid Sun Yeshu would continue to cause trouble, directly threatened to deduct her work points.

This time, Sun Yeshu didn’t dare to say another word.

But she also stopped working. Seeing Gu Jiaojiao standing there idle, she decided to do the same, as if determined to compete with her to the very end.

Gu Jiaojiao didn’t care. She let Sun Yeshu rest all she wanted.

Leng Qingtian, however, was the unlucky one. He wasn’t as fast as Leng Yuan, and this was already a two-person job, neither part of which was easy. If Sun Yeshu refused to do anything at all, Leng Qingtian would be stuck working by himself late into the night.

If Sun Yeshu didn’t feel for her own husband, that was none of Gu Jiaojiao’s concern.

She, on the other hand, certainly doted on her man. As for her way of showing it? That was to give him extra meat.
