The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

The shout was practically a sonic weapon, leaving everyone’s ears ringing.

Leng Yuan’s fishing rod moved. Just as everyone turned toward the source of the sound, he pulled up a large fish and placed it in the bucket at his side.

Sun Yecheng, on the other hand, was not so fortunate.

He had steeled himself and tossed in a large handful of bait, waiting for the fish to swarm. But just as they had finally started to swim over, his mother’s shriek scared them all away.

The bait was gone, and he hadn’t caught a single fish. Sun Yecheng’s expression soured.

Sun Yeshu frowned as well.

She turned around to see her mother sprawled by the riverbank, sobbing as if she might pass out at any moment.

All the while, she was muttering to herself.

”Oh, my son! You died so horribly! I’ll get revenge for you. I absolutely won’t let the person who hurt you go!”

Sun Yecheng: ...

Sun Yeshu: ...

’Could someone please tell us what’s happening? Who is this person who supposedly died so horribly?’

For some reason, Sun Yecheng had a bad feeling. But he was in the middle of the competition and could only look at Sun Yeshu.

”Go see what’s wrong with Mom.”

Sun Yeshu nodded. ”Second Brother, you keep fishing. I’ll go check on Mom.”

It wasn’t just the Sun siblings; even the onlookers were stunned. Those who knew Auntie Sun rushed over to help her up.

”Auntie Sun, what’s happened? Is something wrong at home? Don’t worry, just take your time and tell us!”

Sun Yecheng was too far to hear clearly, but those who were closer heard everything—a child from the Sun family had been beaten to death. How horrible.

Auntie Sun sobbed, gasping for breath. ”My poor child... beaten to death just like that. I will make them pay!”

Everyone was shocked to hear this. They couldn’t believe a child from the Sun family had actually been beaten to death.

The second and fourth children were here fishing, and the third had been at home. Many people had seen him just a little while ago. The only one they hadn’t seen was the eldest... Could it be that Eldest Sun was the one who was beaten to death?

Eldest Sun was married with two kids. If he were dead, how would his widow and orphans survive?

The crowd was united in indignation. ”Sister-in-law Sun, don’t you worry. Someone has dared to take a life—we can’t just let this slide.”

”Exactly! We can’t let them get away with it. Poor Eldest Sun.”

The crowd nodded in sympathy. ”Yeah, the poor man.”

Auntie Sun’s sharp sobs came to a halt. She glared at the group. ”What nonsense are you all spouting? My eldest son is perfectly fine! How dare you curse him!”

The crowd was baffled. ”If it’s not the eldest, then is it the third? But I just saw him leave the house a minute ago!”

Auntie Sun prized her eldest son and doted on her youngest. Now these foul mouths had cursed both of them. With a shriek, Auntie Sun slapped the woman beside her.

”That’s bullshit! My eldest and third sons are just fine! If you dare curse them again, I’ll kill you!”

The woman who was slapped flew into a rage. ”You dare hit me? You old hag! I’ll settle this with you right now!”

The two women were about to come to blows when bystanders quickly pulled them apart.

”Huilan, don’t be angry. Her son just died, so she’s gone a little mad. Don’t stoop to her level.”

The woman named Huilan was seething with anger but had no way to vent it.

She’d tried to comfort the old hag out of kindness, and what did she get? A slap in the face. And she couldn’t even fight back, because the woman had just lost her son!

Huilan spat on the ground and pushed away the people holding her back. ”She’s completely ungrateful. If anyone else wants to deal with her, be my guest.”

She, for one, was done with people like that.

The others didn’t know what to say. Losing a son was tragic, but hitting someone was still wrong. After a moment, everyone just ignored Auntie Sun.

Auntie Sun wailed a few more times, but not a single person came forward.

Auntie Sun: ...
