Starting With an SSS-Rank Swordsmanship Talent

The room fell silent, and all eyes turned toward Alaric as they awaited his response.

Alaric took a deep breath. ”We won’t be staying here for long. We will depart to the Enchanted Woodlands right away and meet up with the elves in Greenwood Kingdom.”

By this time, the negotiations between the Astanian Emperor and the Elven King should have already concluded.

If everything went according to plan, the elves would send an army to help them create a safe route directly leading to Cangnan.

Lucas was also aware of this, but he didn’t know the exact details of the plan.

Lucas nodded solemnly. ”I see.”

He handed his granddaughter to Mathilda. He then leaned on his seat and let out a sigh. ”You will be starting from scratch in Cangnan. The road ahead will be much more dangerous. You must exercise caution, my son.”

Seeing his father’s serious face, Alaric nodded. ”I will heed your advice.”

”Good.” Lucas forced a smile. He didn’t want to say it, but he was reluctant to see his son leave.

Cangnan wasn’t the same as Veronica. It was tens of thousands of miles away. Traveling from North Pine Territory to Cangnan was perilous, so he was afraid that he wouldn’t see his son for a long time.

Jade Kristine and Maria were already crying.

Alaric had to console his parents for an hour before they finally stopped being emotional. He also promised them that he would visit them at least once a year.

After the family meeting, Alaric was kicked out of the study.

Looking at the shut door, he scratched his head with a wry smile. Shaking his head, he decided to take a look at his bedroom for the last time.

...

The next day, the whole family was already fully dressed and ready to go. His father, Lucas, was now wearing his duke attire, a gift he had received from the Astanian Emperor. His mother, Jade Kristine, and Maria were also dressed in their beautiful ceremonial gowns.

”What are you waiting for? Come up here. We cannot make our in-laws wait for too long!” Lucas called out to his son, who was dawdling absentmindedly.

Alaric snapped out of his stupor. ”Yes, I am coming!”

He jumped onto Zephyr’s back.

Lucas gave his final instructions to his subordinates before he commanded the entourage to depart. ”We are setting off! Give the signal.”

Hearing his command, a warrior raised a flag and waved it. It was a signal to the convoy to prepare for departure.

In the next moment, a draconic roar echoed across the air as a huge beast soared into the sky.

A large number of flying beasts followed, moving uniformly behind the draconic lion. The sight of so many flying beasts made everyone in North Pine Territory jump with excitement.

...

Deep in the Enchanted Woodlands, a celebratory atmosphere was present in the Greenwood Kingdom. The elves who were normally hidden in their treehouses were now busying themselves, decorating the venue of the grand wedding ceremony.

”Hey, you there. Place that lantern a little bit higher.” Rosalie Greenwood instructed in a stern voice.

She was responsible for planning and coordinating the elven princess’s wedding. Although some processes were removed to shorten the ceremony, she wanted to make things grander for Yvanna.

To ensure the security of the event, she even asked the elven king’s permission to mobilize the entire elven army.

At this moment, an elf warrior rushed to her side with an urgent look. ”Miss Rosalie, we have received news from our lookouts in the outer periphery of the forest.”

He presented her a sealed letter.

Rosalie furrowed her eyebrows and took the letter from him. She removed the seal and opened it.

So they’re finally here.

She handed the letter back to the elf warrior and said. ”Send word to our people and have them prepare to welcome Her Highness’s groom.”

The elven warrior and those who were nearby were all startled when they heard her words.

They already knew the identity of Yvanna’s groom. He was a prince from a human empire, the hero who once saved their kingdom from great peril.

A long time might have passed since he last came to their kingdom, but they had never forgotten their benefactors.

”I will relay your message to everyone!”

Rosalie didn’t linger and headed straight to the elven king’s treehouse.

As soon as she arrived, she spoke to the guard standing outside. ”Announce me.”

The guard didn’t waste any time when he noticed the urgency in her expression. With a loud voice, he announced. ”Miss Rosalie Greenwood has come!”

”Let her in.” A voice echoed from inside the treehouse.

The guard opened the door and gestured for Rosalie to get in.

She nodded to the guard and stepped inside the treehouse.

What greeted her was the scent of freshly brewed tea.

”What brings you here when you are so busy with the wedding preparations?” Garandel, the elven king, smiled faintly at her.

Unlike before, Garandel was looking more spirited and relaxed. His complexion had visibly improved, and even his strength experienced a huge leap.

”Did you receive word from our lookouts in the outer periphery?” She asked without beating around the bush.

She was the only one in the kingdom other than his daughter who would dare to speak casually in front of him.

”Oh, you mean that? Of course. I am the elven king. I have ears everywhere in this forest.” Garandel chuckled while gesturing for her to take a seat.

Rosalie took the tea he poured for her and took a light sip. ”Do you really intend to help them build that secret route?”

As one of the high elves, she was aware of his agreement with the Astanian Emperor. It was something that she felt was too dangerous, and she even openly opposed it. However, the elven king strongly supported the idea, which left her with no choice.

Garandel’s face turned serious when she mentioned this. ”Yes. No matter what you say, you cannot change my decision. I believe that this is also an opportunity for us to search for our lost ancestors...”
