Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 1017: Chapter 1017: Getting Started

New book ”Reborn: Not Your Perfect Wife” seeks collection!

Feifei rolled her eyes at the little brother, who was grinning cheekily, his smile a complete act of flattery.

”Shi Xian, you’re being very naughty.”

The little guy stood up, stretching his arms, calling out to Feifei with a loud ”ahhhhh.”

Quickly climbed onto the bed, or else he’d soon reach the edge.

The little girl sat on one side, smiling, holding a toy and handed it to Feifei.

Wei Kaiyun watched the two children, causing all sorts of mischief when they were with him; it was truly exasperating.

Feifei sat on the bed playing games with the two of them. This was a Nine Rings made by Master Shang. Although the three older ones still couldn’t figure it out, it didn’t stop them from letting the two younger ones play.

How could Shi Xian sit still? He lay on his sister’s back.

”Can’t you stay still for a moment? Dad, you’ll definitely need to find a skilled Master Wu for Shi Xian in the future.”

Wei Kaiyun thought his daughter was right; he needed to find a tough, strict kung fu master for his younger son in the future as he indeed couldn’t sit still.

So he nodded, ”Yes, I’ll start looking right away. I’ll write a letter in a bit to inquire about the situation. If it’s possible, I’ll find a skilled master.” Wei Kaiyun already had someone in mind, but he didn’t know how they were doing now. He’d write a letter to ask, but he wasn’t sure where the person was now. Nonetheless, they would certainly be the best choice.

At this moment, the aroma of food wafted over. Shi Xian sniffed, and that little look made Wei Kaiyun’s heart melt with love.

This child was really completely different from his brother and sister.

”Dad, tell Aunt Du to steam egg custards for Shi Xian and Tingting.”

”Alright, I’ll go and take care of it.”

When Jiang Xinyu returned, lunch was already ready. Seeing the car in the yard, she didn’t go back into the house but went directly to Old Yang’s room.

Seeing the red monkey lying on the bed, sleeping soundly, she didn’t disturb him but spoke softly to Zhao Xiaoli.

”How is it? Was it tough?”

Zhao Xiaoli shook her head with a smile, ”No, the doctor said I had a quick delivery.”

”That’s good. Be sure to rest well. You can’t sit around too much. I didn’t feel any different, but the elders always say you have to recover well during confinement.”

”Xinyu, you don’t know how uncomfortable it was at the hospital. Even with thick covers, it still felt icy cold. It’s better to lie on the warm bed at home.”

”Haha, I don’t have that feeling; I didn’t give birth during the cold season. Besides, I was in the South back then; the cold there is different from here.”

”I didn’t notice anything else, just felt cold, and my back hurt.”

”Then make sure to recuperate well. I heard from Old Wei that the little one weighed six and a half pounds at birth, quite big indeed.”

”Yeah, look at him now, just eating and sleeping.”

”That’s good. How’s the milk? I’ve already spoken with the village chief to milk the goats daily. You should drink a bowl every day; it’ll be good for you and the small one.”

”That’s great, having you around makes me feel at ease.” Zhao Xiaoli spoke sincerely, feeling anchored with Jiang Xinyu around.

”Alright, you rest up. I’ll go check on Shi Xian and the others, and we’ll have some soup later.”

And so, Zhao Xiaoli spent her confinement at home, feeling grounded and comfortable.

With good food and drink, her only task was to feed the baby.

The child changed a lot day by day. Old Yang’s idea was to wait until the full month. Just 20 days in, the child was already becoming plump and fair-skinned.

Shi Jing really came by daily to have meals with the little one. Old Yang named him Yang Wen Yuan, but Zhao Xiaoli disliked the name, thinking it awkward to call. So she gave her son a new name, Ah Bao.

Old Yang didn’t like this name, thinking it made the child seem spoiled. But since the child belonged to them, they could choose a nickname. Once the child grows up, he likely wouldn’t want to be called that anymore.

The chicken farm was already built, just lacking the flooring, which Jiang Xinyu intended to make out of cement for easy cleaning.

Li Cunshan truly felt bad but had no choice. He fetched more cement to lay down the cement floor.

Now Jiushang and Li Shuangjiang had already started tilling the land with a rotary tiller. The elders had begun selecting seeds.

Wei Kaiyun brought over ten people to nurture cotton seedlings. This year’s plan was to plant a hundred acres of cotton, and Wei Kaiyun was responsible for this part.

Wei Kaiyun asked Jiushang to till two-tenths of an acre, then fertilize and water it.

Cotton seeds had already been germinated at home. Once they sprouted, they were directly planted in the ground and covered with plastic film. This way, when the cotton seedlings reached a certain height, they could be transplanted, which was also a method for seed selection.

After the cement floor was laid, the chicks could now leave the nest.

By this time, Yang Wen Yuan had also reached his full month. Instead of a celebration, the family simply gathered to celebrate. Jiang Xinyu prepared two sets of clothes for the child, and privately gave the little one a pair of golden longevity locks and a golden bracelet suitable for children.

The little one had grown up adorably, especially with his particularly beautiful smiling eyes that endeared him to everyone.

Shi Jing still came by every day to play with his little brother.

Now that the weather had warmed, Shi Xian and Tingting were also brought out to sunbathe at noon. Jiang Xinyu said this was to supplement calcium.

So the family diligently followed the routine. This delighted the two little ones, who were finally able to leave the house. Now, when Shi Xian woke up, he yearned to go out, but Jiang Xinyu never indulged him. She insisted that outings were only at noon since the early mornings and evenings were still quite chilly.

School suspended classes once spring planting began, as even children could help out.

Li Yungui was so busy that he barely had time to rest. Many villages sought his help with planting. By mid-May, the village corn had been planted, the sorghum was almost done, and the sweet potato ridges were ready, just waiting for June to start planting sweet potatoes.

The odds and ends of tasks were gradually wrapping up. For this month, everyone got up early and returned late, rushing through tasks. They hoped the seeders could get out to work, earning more dividends, and also allowing family members to work for wages. Who would be lazy under these conditions?

Chaoyang went to the Jin Family Village to help for two days as there was no way around it. He taught them how to use the rotary tillers and seeders before heading back to tend to his tasks at home.

Han Xiangjun had already sent two telegrams urging for pesticides.

Wei Kaiyun arranged for Chaoyang to handle it himself.

”Master, can I handle it on my own?”

”You can. This time, don’t use a truck; the costs are too high. Instead, we’ll go to the railway management bureau tomorrow to inquire. This way, we’ll save a lot on costs.”

Chaoyang was very obedient, though he felt unsure. Although he had been to the Capital once before, last time he had Master Yang with him, it felt daunting to go alone now.

The railway side didn’t agree, as it involved chemicals, and they couldn’t fill a whole carriage. In the end, they still had to use a truck.
