Starting Out As The God of Beasts

The sky above Kaelos City had turned a hideous, sickly shade of burning orange as the clash between the two Martial Generals reached a catastrophic fever pitch.

What had begun as a contained duel in the commercial district had morphed into a localized apocalypse.

Neither Eurenia nor the Silver Lotus Elder could suppress their roaring mana pools any longer.

Every time their weapons collided, violent shockwaves tore outward like invisible blades, shearing off the roofs of stone manors, splintering heavy ironwood gates, and reducing entire residential blocks to piles of rubble.

Horrified screams echoed through the curfew-bound streets.

Mortals and low-tier cultivators who had locked themselves inside their homes were caught completely helpless in the crossfire.

Those unlucky enough to be within fifty yards of the battle were instantly pummeled into wet, crimson meatpaste by the sheer atmospheric pressure of their colliding auras.

Yet, as the carnage expanded, the Silver Lotus Elder began to gain the upper hand.

Leveraging centuries of refined human cultivation tactics, the Elder seamlessly chained dozens of high level mana manipulation techniques together, amplifying his battle prowess to terrifying heights.

His speed doubled, his defensive barriers hardened, and his strikes became increasingly erratic and lethal.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

”Golden Solar Flares!” the Elder shouted, sweeping his arms through the air.

Unlike Eurenia’s raw, tempestuous wind mana, the Silver Lotus Elder possessed a deep, profound elemental affinity for fire—and his understanding of the nature of flames far surpassed hers.

Vast, swirling globes of white-hot golden fire materialized in the sky above him, raining down upon the ruined district like miniature suns.

SCHLICK!

Eurenia swung her massive longsword, her blade clad in a dense, silver gale that sliced a falling fireball clean in half.

The resulting explosion sent her flying backward through the air.

She slammed violently into the side of a reinforced granite watchtower, cracking the stone, but before the rubble could even settle, she burst out of the dust, covering the distance between them in a microsecond.

BANG!

Her boot slammed directly into the Elder’s chest barrier, sending the old man skidding across the dirt, growling and groaning in frustration as blood leaked from the corner of his mouth.

Yet, while the Silver Lotus Elder was sweating profusely, his face twisted in desperate rage, Eurenia was radiant.

She was having the absolute time of her life.

Her silver hair whipped wildly around her blood-splattered face, her emerald eyes burning with an unholy, euphoric light.

Back in the Kingdom of Varania, every single soul dwelled under the benevolent grace of the God of Beasts.

They were her brethren, her comrades, her kin.

How could a warrior ever release her true, unbridled bloodlust against those she was sworn to protect?

She was a born conqueror, a predator of the sky.

She craved the raw, bone-snapping thrill of an intense, life-and-death struggle—and this arrogant human Elder was giving her the greatest dance of her life.

SWOOSH!

The violent commotion and continuous explosions had finally drawn the city’s upper garrison.

Dozens of elite human martial warriors and squad commanders rushed into the burning intersection, weapons drawn, shouting frantically to support the Elder.

”Surround the beast-tramp! Form the sealing array—!”

Eurenia didn’t even turn her head.

As she dashed out of a fiery explosion to evade a sweeping strike from the Elder, she saw a golden opportunity.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

In the span of two heartbeats, Eurenia transformed into a silver blur.

She wove through the ranks of the advancing martial warriors with fluid, terrifying grace.

Heads flew into the air, armored torsos were cleaved in two, and blood sprayed across the burning cobblestones like rain.

Dozens of heavy armored human guards were slaughtered in seconds, their lives snuffed out before they could even complete a single spell formation.

”YOU VILE DEMON!” the Silver Lotus Elder roared, infuriated by the effortless slaughter of his meatshields.

He clapped his hands together, his ancient face veinous with exertion. ”Eighteen Solar Spears of the Lotus!”

Dozens of razor-sharp spears woven purely from condensed, white-hot solar flames manifested around him and shot forward with deafening sonic booms.

EXPLOSION!

A chain reaction of fiery detonations swallowed Eurenia entirely, engulfing her location in a towering pillar of roaring golden fire that melted the surrounding stone into glass.

The Elder dropped to his knees, panting heavily, a bitter, triumphant sneer touching his lips. ”Hah... Hah... Burn to ash, you wretched creature...”

Step.

Out from the center of the roaring inferno, a lone figure walked forward.

Eurenia stood amidst the white-hot golden flames, entirely unburnt. Her leather armor was scorched, but her skin remained flawless.

Suddenly, mid-step, Eurenia paused. She tilted her head slightly, her sharp, wolf-like gaze drifting toward the high rooftop of a surviving clock tower two streets over.

Standing silently against the backdrop of the moon was Alisa.

The shadow-bound warrior raised two fingers to her forehead, flashing a silent, subtle hand sign before vanishing into the night.

Eurenia’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, a faint, disappointed sigh escaping her lips.

The signal.

The underground prison had been completely evacuated; every beastman was clear of the city.

Her time of fun was officially over.

”Ah... what a shame,” Eurenia whispered softly, her euphoric smile vanishing, replaced by a cold, primordial stillness that froze the very air around her.

”Master wants this wrapped up.”

THOOM!

In that single, terrifying instant, the ambient mana across the entire district turned black.

A terrifying, beastial skill—dormant within her primordial bloodline—awakened.

Active Skill: Blood-Flame Armament

WHOOSH!

From the deep wounds on her palms and the burning mana in her heart, a pitch-black, obsidian fire erupted.

Unlike the Elder’s bright, blinding sun-flames, Eurenia’s black fire was cold, suffocating, and dripping with an absolute, predatory malice.

The black flames clung to her skin and sword, solidifying into a sleek, terrifying suit of shadowy armor that wrapped around her frame, while two massive wings of burning black wind unfolded behind her back.

The Silver Lotus Elder’s eyes bulged in pure, unadulterated horror as he stumbled backward.

The white-hot golden flames he had summoned—the proud, sacred fire of the Glorious Mythical Sect—did not even fight back.

The moment Eurenia’s black flames spread, they devoured his solar fire, consuming the heat, the light, and the very mana sustaining them, leaving behind only an endless, creeping sea of pitch-black inferno.

Eurenia raised her black-flame-clad longsword, her emerald eyes glowing through the dark armor like two dying stars.

”Now, old fool...” her voice echoed, layered with the terrifying resonance of a primordial beast.

”...let us see if your sect can survive the dark.”
