Starting Out As The God of Beasts

The heavy rain pounded against the stone ramparts of Kaelos City with deafening intensity, the howling wind whipping the downpour into sheets of blinding white mist.

Lightning split the ink-black sky, illuminating three cloaked figures standing motionless outside the massive iron-reinforced gates.

High above on the guard towers, the sentries stiffened.

”Movement at the western gate!” one of the guards shouted over the roar of the gale, his hand dropping instantly to the pommel of his sheathed broadsword.

The two gate guards on duty stepped out from beneath the stone archway into the storm.

Both men were tall, broad-shouldered, and muscular, their bodies pulsating with the sturdy, refined mana of Martial Warriors.

They were battle-hardened veterans of Kaelos City, trained to remain vigilant against wild monsters and mountain ambushes alike.

Before embarking on the journey from Yutao City, Roy had taken meticulous precautions.

Utilizing his divine authority, he had acquired active Shapeshifting Skills in bulk and bestowed them directly upon Eurenia and Alisa.

To ensure their infiltration remained entirely flawless, Roy had selected two wealthy, beautiful human noblewomen from the inner quarters of Yutao City.

The two duchesses had absorbed their physical appearances, voices, and micro-expressions perfectly.

As for the real women... they had vanished into the night, buried deep in an unmarked, solitary grave in the wilderness where no human cultivator would ever find them.

Roy could have simply stolen their identities and left the two noblewomen alive in Yutao City.

However, he understood the brutal nature of the human world all too well.

Once Kaelos City was reduced to an inferno and the continent began investigating the perpetrators, those two women would have been hunted down, tortured, and subjected to a fate far worse than death by human inquisitors seeking answers.

Taking their lives painlessly beforehand was a mercy—relieving them of a future filled with unspeakable suffering once his grand plan unfolded.

Now, replacing those identities, Eurenia and Alisa stood beside Roy, their dangerous feline features, ears, and tails completely concealed beneath flawless human illusions.

”HALT!” the lead guard bellowed, pulling his blade three inches from its scabbard. His voice boomed through the rain.

”State your identity and purpose at once, or face the immediate wrath of Kaelos City!”

The three travelers came to a complete stop ten paces from the entrance.

The two guards approached cautiously, their heavy iron boots splashing in the thick mud.

As they drew closer, the flickering light of their spirit-fire lanterns cut through the dark rain, revealing the travelers’ faces.

Roy stood at the center—a striking, impossibly handsome young man with long golden hair plastered slightly against his neck by the rain, his golden-crimson eyes calm and unbothered.

Standing on either side of him were two breath-taking women.

Even draped in damp traveling cloaks, their beauty was staggering.

They possessed flawless, porcelain skin, slender waists, and voluptuous, curvaceous figures that the wet fabric clung to, emphasizing their alluring chests and elegant postures.

The initial suspicion on the guards’ faces instantly melted away, replaced by a wave of raw, unfiltered envy.

’How does a young brat like him get to travel with two goddess-like beauties?’ the lead guard thought, his eyes lingering greedily on Eurenia’s chest before shifting back to Roy.

Despite their distraction, the lead sentry remembered his duty.

He cleared his throat, tightening his grip on his sword.

”Where are you coming from at this hour of the night? Why are you entering Kaelos City during a storm?”

Roy stepped forward slightly, his expression shifting into one of deep, sorrowful fatigue.

His voice was smooth, carrying a perfectly fabricated tremor of grief.

”Please, noble guards... grant us entry,” Roy spoke, his tone laced with heavy emotion.

”We were part of a merchant convoy traveling from the southern province. But while passing near the lower ridges of the Hashian Mountains, we were ambushed by a band of feral beastmen...”

Roy lowered his head, clenching his fists. ”Our guards... our servants... everyone was slaughtered in the dark.

My two wives and I were the only ones who managed to escape into the river and flee toward your city walls.”

Standing right behind him, hidden beneath the shadows of their deep hoods, Eurenia and Alisa felt their hearts skip a violent beat.

His... wives?

A faint, burning blush flushed across both of their cheeks, turning the tips of their hidden feline ears bright red.

Deep within their souls, both Duchesses harbored intense, devoted feelings for Roy.

They did not merely revere him as the Apostle of the God of Beasts; they loved him deeply as Master Jarden, the sovereign who had given them purpose, strength, and salvation.

Yet, understanding the monumental weight of his divine mission, both women had buried their romantic desires deep within their hearts, promising never to allow personal feelings to hinder his grand design.

Hearing him casually refer to them as his ”wives”—even as a mere cover story—triggered those buried emotions back to the surface with overwhelming force, making their hearts flutter wildly inside their chests.

Unaware of the internal turmoil behind him, Roy maintained his sorrowful act.

The two guards listened to Roy’s explanation, and their eyes glinted with a mixture of mock pity and dark, predatory lust.

Kaelos City was a metropolis built entirely on the blood, trade, and subjugation of beastmen.

A survivor claiming to have been attacked by wild beastmen fit their exact political narrative.

They had zero reason to turn away a victim of monster brutality.

More importantly, the guards were looking at the two stunning women standing behind Roy.

”Attacked by beastmen, you say?” the lead guard spat, a cruel, hypocritical sneer curving his lips. ”Feral bastards... they truly are a plague upon these lands. It is fortunate you made it to Kaelos City. Here, you are safe.”

The lead sentry exchanged a quick, silent glance with his partner.

A dark, unspoken agreement passed between the two Martial Warriors in a fraction of a second.

They accepted Roy immediately—not out of sympathy, but because of the two beauties at his side.

Their plan was simple and ruthless: once these refugees entered the city.

They would guide them into a quiet, secluded alleyway under the pretense of ”processing their settlement” quietly slit the golden-haired youth’s throat, toss his corpse into the river, and split the two voluptuous women between themselves for the night.

”Come inside out of the rain,” the second guard said, stepping aside with a grand, welcoming gesture toward the open iron gate.

”We will take you to an inn and handle your report.”

Roy looked at the two guards, his beautiful, golden-crimson eyes reflecting the faint flicker of the lantern light.

A tiny, unnoticeable smirk played at the very corner of his lips.

He understood their disgusting thoughts down to the finest detail.

He knew precisely what they planned to do the moment they stepped past the gatehouse.

”Thank you, brave guards,” Roy whispered smoothly, stepping into the dark archway of Kaelos City.

”You are far too kind.”
