Love Strategy: CEO He is Really Scheming！

Chapter 697: Chapter 696: Dawn Sutherland calmly lied to Daisy Grant without blushing...

The phone rang for a while before being answered, and a soft murmur of ”second brother” came from Daisy Grant. Dawn Sutherland felt his body and heart tremble heavily.

Dawn Sutherland didn’t respond immediately.

Daisy Grant’s voice came again, somewhat heavy: ”Second brother, did you call me for something?”

Dawn instinctively replied with a hum, only to gather his thoughts right after and speak mildly on the phone: ”Nothing, I just wanted to ask you... Didn’t you say Aidan and Aunt Sutherland were going to your place to discuss their marriage? How’s that going?”

Even though his tone was intentionally mild, Dawn clearly felt like his heart was being tightly gripped, causing a dull pain.

There was a moment of silence from Daisy’s side, and when her voice resumed, it was even lower: ”Second brother... they’re still discussing, but it’s almost done. I’m upstairs with foot pain, so I haven’t gone down.”

”Foot pain? Do you want me to take you to the hospital? I’ll come over right now.” Dawn’s voice was a bit flustered.

Daisy’s voice turned slightly hoarse: ”No need, second brother, Aunt Sutherland and Aidan are both here. Aunt Sutherland already likes to target you, avoid running into this situation.”

Dawn held a cigarette, endlessly burning, unaware of it scorching his fingers.

After a while in silence, Dawn stood there for a long time before responding with a hum to Daisy.

Yes, even if she’s in pain, it’s not his place to feel for her; Aidan is the one who can be there when she’s struggling with her feet, and Dawn has no right to embrace her.

Even though he desperately wants to tend to her injured feet.

”Second brother,” Daisy spoke again, her voice still hoarse and deep: ”Second brother, your birthday is coming up, can I celebrate with you the night before your birthday?”

Daisy’s suggestion made Dawn’s eyes brighten a bit, and disregarding the fact that Daisy couldn’t see his actions, he promptly nodded and said: ”Sure, let’s do it at my apartment? I’ll come to pick you up.”

”No need to pick me up, I’ll let the driver take me there. Second brother, can it be just... the two of us? Just like when I celebrated your birthday when we were young, just the two of us.”

”Okay.” Dawn agreed with a light smile.

”Second brother, is there anything you want for your birthday?” Daisy asked.

Dawn pressed his thin lips tightly, and the word ”you” that was about to slip out was held back by the last bit of his rationality. He swallowed the words, giving it a thought before saying: ”Anything. Having you celebrate with me is the best gift for me. Since childhood, you are the only one who has always remembered my birthday.”

A faint laugh came from Daisy’s side, but even in her laughter, Dawn sensed a hint of melancholy, though unclear why.

Dawn pondered, wanting to say something beneficial, and ended up blurting out: ”Daisy, you have the key to my apartment in your bag.”

Daisy was clearly taken aback: ”Second brother, when did that happen?”

Dawn quickly regained clarity, feeling the scorching sensation at his fingertips, seeing his fingers burnt by the cigarette butt, knitting his brows slightly as he put out the cigarette, and casually lied: ”When you helped me move, didn’t you fall asleep? I slipped the spare key to my apartment into your bag, fearing I’d forget my keys someday, you’d have a spare one.”

With a mild tone, Dawn audaciously lied over the phone.

”Alright, second brother, the night before your birthday is also the eve of your company’s opening, it should be busy. I’ll head over by myself first and wait for you at the apartment.”
