Chapter 691: Chapter 690: Walking the Path Traversed in Youth

-

In Ariel Morris’s hospital room, Arlo Seys’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, which showed Callan Walkers. Callan was likely calling about something important related to work. Arlo looked at the person on the hospital bed, then walked out of the room with his phone to answer the call.

Just as Arlo stepped out, two nurses came into Ariel Morris’s room with nutritional fluids and medications for protecting the pregnancy, changing Ariel’s medication.

Ariel’s fingers twitched, her eyelids felt extremely heavy, so she chose to keep her eyes closed, intending to rest for a couple of minutes before opening them again.

As the two nurses changed Ariel’s medication, they whispered to each other: ”Ah, I don’t know whether to call this girl lucky or unlucky. She’s got such a handsome husband, comes from a good family, a textbook example of tall, rich, and handsome! It’s a pity that even though she married into a wealthy family, she cannot enjoy it due to her fragile fate. It’s such a sigh.”

”Yeah, her husband is practically a perfect husband! He stayed right by her side, and when he carried her in after she fainted, his eyes were red. You could just tell how much he loves this girl,” the other nurse chimed in.

”What’s the use of love when the toxins in her body have all gathered around her eyes? Though her life isn’t in immediate danger, her vision... she’s soon going to be blind. Once she becomes blind, it’s uncertain whether she’ll live for a few months or one to two years. In the end, her husband will have to marry another, won’t he? This girl is truly pitiful, being so young. Sigh.”

”Alright, that’s enough. If her husband hears us talking about her, we’re done for. Her husband is not someone we can offend. I just overheard some gossip from other colleagues saying her husband is the famous Crown Prince of the Seys Family in City C! A beauty with a fragile fate, marrying such a good husband but not having the life to accompany him. Sigh.”

The nurses finished changing the medication and walked silently out of the room.

Yet, on the hospital bed, Ariel Morris still hadn’t opened her eyes. A tear gently slid down the corner of her eye.

Ariel’s eyelashes softly fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes to look at the ceiling, her gaze hollow.

Even though she knew sometimes her blindness was caused by toxins in her body and had long been mentally prepared, hearing this news still made her heart race with fear.

She was soon going to become blind, and the kind who could die at any moment!!

Arlo Seys ended the call with Callan Walkers and walked into the hospital room, seeing the person on the bed who was already awake. She was staring blankly at the ceiling, her face pale, looking so weak that it made his heart ache.

”Ariel.” Arlo walked over, sat at Ariel’s bedside, and held her hand.

Ariel turned her eyes to look at Arlo, her gaze a deep red. She leaned against the pillow and sat up slightly, her voice a bit hoarse: ”Arlo.”

”Why are you crying as soon as you wake up? What happened?” Arlo’s eyes carried a trace of tenderness.

Ariel shook her head and gave a faint smile, ”Nothing. I just didn’t see you and panicked a little.”

Arlo held Ariel’s fingers with one hand and gently touched her hair with the other, smiling lightly: ”I took a call. It was from Callan, but I didn’t leave.”

Ariel also smiled faintly, saying softly, ”Arlo, I want to go to Red Fragrance Hill once, to visit the little pavilion where we watched the snow and ate hot pot, where our youthful footprints remain.”

”I also want to go to Scenic Hill High School, to walk the campus paths we strolled through in our youth, to see the track where you carried me while being punished, and the cafeteria where we ate together.”

”And I want to watch a movie with you, to relive the sweetness of our relationship when we were young.”

”I also want to go to Dublin, to show you where I once lived... forget it, Dublin is too far away. Let’s not go. We’ll just revisit all the streets we walked on in City C when we were young, all the places we played, let’s visit them all, walk them all again...”
