NTR: Barbarian Harem Conquest

’That was too close,’ Kane admitted to himself, dismissing the system interface and feeling the welcome rush of normal air returning to his lungs as his mana bar stabilized.

’If I didn’t have the Tier III domain sharing unlocked, we would have lost half the infantry to attrition inside that maze.’

”Let us go see what they were trying so hard to protect,” Kane said, sheathing his axe and gesturing toward the inner keep.

”Brak, bring up the breaching tools. It is time to open the vault.”

Midday light filtered through the high clerestory windows of the central keep, illuminating thirty feet of solid bronze.

Intricate gears and glowing red Elven runes sealed the treasury vault shut against intruders.

Standing directly in front of the massive entrance, Firlia clutched her ledger to her chest, her hands trembling slightly, not from any fear of danger, but from the sheer, dizzying anticipation of the wealth locked just beyond the metal.

”Do not let Sira hit it with an axe!” Firlia warned, spreading her arms wide to shield the bronze with her own body as the northern barbarian wandered too close with a curious expression.

”Elven customs vaults are rigged with acid traps! If you force the lock wrong, we lose every single coin to melt-water!”

”Relax, Firlia. I am not a barbarian,” Kane smiled, stepping up to the entrance while Rutheus and Sira both grumbled a vocal protest behind his shoulder.

”You are one.”

”Fair.”

Placing his palm flat against the cold bronze surface, Kane bypassed conventional breaching tools entirely.

A standard battering ram would either shatter the delicate medicinal stores inside or trigger the self-destruct runes Firlia was so worried about.

Instead, he closed his eyes for a fraction of a second and activated [System Analysis: Structural & Arcane Deconstruction].

A glowing, three-dimensional blueprint of the vault’s internal lock mechanism projected directly into his mind’s eye, laying out every hidden tumbler, counter-weight, and mana thread in sharp blue lines.

’The Elves rely too much on ancient sequence locks,’ Kane thought, tracing the primary magical conduit leading from the central rune to the internal deadbolts.

’They build traps designed to burn ordinary thieves, yet they never considered what happens when someone can read their structural architecture from the outside.’

Twisting his wrist against the bronze, Kane channeled a precise pulse of system mana straight into the third internal tumbler while calling out instructions to his vanguard over his shoulder.

”Brak, push on the left hinge right now. Thora, use your halberd tip to lever the bottom latch when I count to three. We are overriding the sequence mechanically.”

”Ready, Commander!” Brak grunted, wedging his shoulder plate deep into the corner gap.

”One, two... three!”

With a series of heavy, satisfying clacks that echoed through the silent keep, the glowing runes along the doorframe flickered twice before turning from angry red to a passive, harmless blue.

The massive bronze doors groaned open along their tracks, revealing a cavernous hall filled to the ceiling with neatly stacked crates of silver ingots, rare medicinal herbs, and heavy oak chests overflowing with refined southern gold.

Firlia let out a breath that sounded half like a sob and half like hysterical laughter, dropping straight to her knees before an open chest of pure gold pieces.

”It is beautiful...” Firlia whispered, burying her fingers in the glittering coins while tears of joy welled up in her eyes.

”Commander, we can fund the entire southern highway expansion and still afford new armor for the infantry...”

”See? No acid,” Sira pointed out cheerfully, peering over Firlia’s shoulder at the piles of silver.

”Can I buy a golden helmet now?”

Before Firlia could begin marking her inventory ledgers, a slight ripple in the air caused Kane to instinctively reach for his sword hilt.

From the shadows of the vault’s high inner balcony stepped Commander Myla, the Elven noble who had orchestrated both the druidic labyrinth outside and the trade blockade.

Unlike the standard archers they had captured in the plaza, she was clad head-to-toe in Tier III Moon-Silver armor, wielding a slender, vibrating rapier that crackled with concentrated spatial mana.

Knowing her border garrison was completely broken and her treasury lost, Myla refused to surrender.

Without uttering a word of warning, she activated a high-speed spatial blink, dropping directly from the balcony into the center of the vault.

Bypassing Thora and Brak entirely, she aimed a lethal, thrusting strike right at Kane’s chest, intending to decapitate the Warlord and shatter the invading army’s morale in one desperate blow.

”You think our city is just a bank for you to rob, barbarian?” Myla spat, her vibrating blade moving so fast it blurred the air itself.

”Sylvander was standing before your mud-hut empire was even a line on a map!”

Seraphine instantly lunged forward from the shadows to intercept the attack, her wooden stiletto drawn, but Kane raised his left hand, catching the First Blade by her shoulder and pulling her back while stepping into the path of the blade himself.

”Hold back, Seraphine. She’s using spatial displacement; if you step into her slipstream, you will lose a limb.”

Drawing his mana-forged axe in a fluid arc, Kane let his eyes glow with the intense blue light of his system interface as he locked his gaze onto the Elven noble.

”Your economic blockade failed, Myla. Your mercenaries took my gold and ran east three hours ago. Now you are throwing your life away in a basement full of money that doesn’t belong to you anymore.”

”I will trade my life for your head!” she screamed, vanishing into a sudden spatial rift and leaving behind a vacuum of air as she attempted to reappear six inches behind his left neck.

’Her spatial blink is fast, but she fights like a fragile fencer relying entirely on surprise,’ Kane analyzed, his system interface tracking a thin blue trajectory line curving through the air behind his shoulder while his barbarian blood sang with the thrill of the duel.

’She thinks I am going to try and dodge. She doesn’t realize I want her in close where an axe rules.’

Rather than wasting stamina leaping out of the way, Kane planted his boots securely into the stone floor and activated [Tier III Kinetic Absorption], bracing his muscular frame like a mountain peak against the oncoming strike.

As Myla emerged from her rift behind him and drove her rapier forward, her Moon-Silver blade slammed squarely into the reinforced haft of Kane’s axe.

Instead of slicing through steel and flesh, the brute impact of her attack was absorbed directly into Kane’s system interface, draining the momentum from her strike instantly and converting her spatial speed into physical rage inside his counter-attack meter.
