Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1525: Chapter 1525: Let Her Testify

Murder case?

How did Yu get involved in a murder case all of a sudden?

The old lady hurriedly handed Little Zaozao to Hua Xian and asked the two officers, “Bailiff, is there some kind of misunderstanding here? Our Yu would never commit a crime.”

The two officers were taken aback, realizing her misunderstanding, and quickly said, “No need to worry, old lady, Village Chief Lu wouldn’t commit a crime.”

“Then how come…”

The two officers were familiar with the Lu family. Back when Lord Xiang was still in Jiangyuan County, Shu Yu often went to the county office and knew these officers.

So, seeing the old lady anxious, they quickly explained, “Monarch Lu Xiang is summoned as a witness.”

Shu Yu was surprised, “A witness?”

“Yes, last night Scholar Chen Ji was murdered. His daughter-in-law, Ms. Kong, reported to the Office claiming that concubine Qiuju was responsible. Qiuju denied it, saying she went out to see lanterns last night and met Monarch Lu Xiang. Lord Xie then sent us to ask Monarch Lu Xiang to come along to help clarify.”

The old lady was relieved when she heard this. So that’s how it was.

However, Shu Yu felt a jolt in her heart. Old Scholar Chen was killed?! And it was Kong Zhiyou who reported it to the Office!

So… was Kong Zhiyou targeting Qiuju?

Shu Yu frowned. She knew that Kong Zhiyou would definitely seek revenge, but to harm her own father-in-law didn’t seem wise, did it?

Setting aside Chen Ji being a scholar, even if he had no title, involving a human life would only make matters worse.

This isn’t right.

Shu Yu shook her head. After her miscarriage, Kong Zhiyou, in her most heartbroken period, could even prevent her family from dealing with Qiuju. For someone who could endure such humiliation and bear burdens, she would definitely come up with a plan that would cause Qiuju pain and be meticulously executed. This direct approach of harming others and getting herself into an unclear situation didn’t seem like something she would do.

This matter feels odd.

Though Shu Yu found it suspicious, she reassured the old lady, “Grandmother, it’s no big deal. I’ll go to the Office and take a look. Don’t worry, I’m just going to tell what I saw and heard, and I’ll be right back.”

The old lady nodded, “Alright then, you go ahead.”

Shu Yu nodded to the two officers, “Let’s go.”

“Please, Monarch Lu Xiang.”

The group got into the carriage, and before long, they arrived at the entrance of the county office.

By this time, the outside of the main hall was already crowded with people, many of whom were pointing and chatting away.

When Shu Yu entered, her first glance caught sight of Meng Yunzheng standing by the side of the main hall.

It looks like he was invited here too.

Meng Yunzheng nodded at her, and Shu Yu then walked inside.

At the center of the main hall, three people were kneeling: one was Kong Zhiyou, another was her maid, and the last was Qiuju.

The last time Shu Yu saw Kong Zhiyou, she was full of vigor and seemed full of life.

Now upon seeing her again, she looked thinner, and her vitality seemed to have been completely drained in an instant. She looked terribly haggard, and her complexion was poor.

Upon seeing Shu Yu, Kong Zhiyou’s expression changed. She pursed her lips tightly and turned her head away in embarrassment.

On the other hand, Qiuju, upon seeing Shu Yu, urgently raised her head and said, “Monarch Lu Xiang, Monarch Lu Xiang, you’re here. You have to testify for me. I really didn’t kill anyone.”

Shu Yu walked past her to the center and respectfully bowed to Lord Xie, “I’ve seen you, my Lord.”

Doctor Xie had a gentle demeanor and said with a smile, “Thank you, Monarch Lu Xiang, for making the trip.”
