Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1438: Chapter 1438: Lord Miao’s Affairs Settled

Shu Yu had a drink, and then asked about her health condition.

The Xiao Family laughed, “Old Doctor Zhao has come three more times. Just two days ago, he took my pulse and said the recovery has been very good. After taking a few more doses of medicine, the remaining toxins will be almost cleared. Look at me, I’ve gained quite a bit of weight.”

She had indeed gained some weight, but compared to the beginning, she was still comparatively thin.

However, her spirit was quite good, and all traces of the initial apprehension in her movements and gestures had vanished.

“Things are pretty good here, aren’t they?”

“Very good, Daoist Nun Zheng and the others have been taking great care of me. Yu, thank you.”

Shu Yu took another sip of tea with satisfaction, “No need to be so formal, seeing you getting better makes me happy too. If there’s anything you need in the future, just let me know.”

Little did she expect that just as the words left her mouth, the Xiao Family actually showed a hesitant expression.

Shu Yu paused and placed the teacup on the table, “What’s wrong?”

The Xiao Family pursed her lips, and hesitated before speaking, “I wanted to ask if you’ve received, received any letters from the capital?”

Shu Yu realized, “You want to ask about your parents’ situation, don’t you?”

The Xiao Family nodded quickly. She was doing well here, but her parents were still trapped and she had already seen the ruthlessness of the Xiao Family, fearing they would suffer harm.

“I haven’t received any news from the capital.” Shu Yu regretted and comforted her, “After all, there’s a certain risk in transmitting messages. The fact that Lord Xiang hasn’t taken any action is also to protect you better. No news is good news. If something really happened to your parents, Lord Xiang would definitely tell you. The fact that everything is calm now means they’re doing well.”

The Xiao Family thought about it and realized it was indeed the case.

“You’re right, I’m being too anxious.”

After seeing Shu Yu, the Xiao Family felt an inexplicable peace of mind and then inquired about Meng Yunzheng’s examination results.

“Recently, many people have come to the Daoist temple, most of them family members of examinees. Some passed and came to fulfill their vows, while others who didn’t pass also came to burn incense, praying to succeed next year. Back at the Xiao Family estate, I was so disoriented I didn’t even remember the dates, and seeing them at the temple reminded me that Young Master Meng was also an examinee this year. Do you know how he did?”

Shu Yu smiled, with a look of undisguised pride, “Top three.”

The Xiao Family beamed with joy, “Really? That’s wonderful, such great news.”

When Xiang Weinan took the imperial examination, his results were also quite impressive.

The two of them had clearly found a topic in common, and even though it wasn’t their examination, they could talk for half a day about it.

It wasn’t until noon that they reluctantly stopped the conversation.

After having lunch with the Xiao Family, Shu Yu planned to head down the mountain back to the prefecture.

When they reached the front hall, Daoist Nun Qiu was interpreting fortunes for someone. Upon seeing Shu Yu, she nodded in acknowledgment, indicating for her to wait.

Shu Yu stood outside for a bit, and soon Daoist Nun Qiu came out.

“Has everything been arranged with Old Master Miao?”

Daoist Nun Qiu nodded, “It’s all been settled. Benefactor Miao chose a new date and wants to prepare everything, then hold another ritual here before moving the longevity lamp under the statue of their ancestor.”

Shu Yu had expected this. Given Old Master Miao’s regard for his sister, he wouldn’t handle it carelessly.

She had fulfilled the conditions talked about with Old Master Miao, and she didn’t plan to interfere any further. She would just wait for the year’s term to end so that he could sell the manor on the black market to Meng Yunzheng.
