Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1436: Chapter 1436: Old Master Miao

Old Master Miao just smiled and didn’t elaborate on the details.

Liu Ru was indeed nurtured and trained by him. Initially, he saw that she was ruthless enough and ambitious. He used to appreciate this about her, but he didn’t expect her ambition to be too great for Piaoxiang Courtyard to contain.

In brothels, there’s no such thing as having a clean slate under one’s command, and it’s impossible for all the girls to have come in as bona fide sellers of their own bodies.

Some of them were forced, their purity destroyed, leaving them no choice but to stay.

Liu Ru excelled in this aspect, even more adept than Old Master Miao.

However, Old Master Miao started to seek other businesses since last year and basically left the brothel unmanaged. He even forbade Liu Ru from using aggressive methods to coerce unwilling girls into prostitution.

As a result, the business of Piaoxiang Courtyard was inevitably affected.

Liu Ru was agitated and unwilling to accept this, and when bosses from other brothels came to her, after several meetings, Liu Ru simply left with them.

Old Master Miao didn’t stop her, but Liu Ru indeed betrayed him. Although his methods had softened and his temperament changed quite a bit, he couldn’t tolerate such things.

Moreover, Liu Ru not only left by herself but also took most of the girls from Piaoxiang Courtyard and even smeared its name before leaving.

Old Master Miao thought Liu Ru got carried away, thinking recklessly that his temper had improved.

But Old Master Miao had the necessary means, so although Liu Ru went to another brothel, her life now wasn’t too easy.

However, there was no need to tell Shu Yu about this.

Old Master Miao just looked at his wife and daughter not far away, “It’s good that Piaoxiang Courtyard closed. Although there’s no money to earn, life seems much fuller.”

When he used to run the brothel, he often met with Liu Ru to discuss business.

Liu Ru had stayed in the brothel long enough to inadvertently acquire some charm in her demeanor, leading his wife to believe they were having an affair.

The couple had always been distant. Old Master Miao never minded this; he didn’t marry her out of love anyway. They just did their own things.

After Piaoxiang Courtyard closed, his wife thought he was upset and took good care of him during that time. The couple, for once, opened up and talked about many things, and Old Master Miao confessed that there was nothing between him and Liu Ru.

He wasn’t much interested in carnal pleasures; with a wife and concubines at home, he wouldn’t touch the girls from the brothel.

After easing his relationship with his wife, Old Master Miao felt the warmth of family he hadn’t felt for a long time. He only felt at home when his sister was around.

Although he later married and had children, he still felt an emptiness inside, lacking a sense of reality.

His current life drastically changed his perspective.

Shu Yu, observing Old Master Miao’s expression, roughly guessed some of the situation but held no opinion on it. Old Master Miao was like a prodigal son returning, yet he had committed many sins in the past.

Thus, Shu Yu and Old Master Miao were destined never to see eye to eye.

Fortunately, Old Master Miao only briefly mentioned the Piaoxiang Courtyard matter before turning his attention to the issue concerning his sister’s longevity lamp.

“I wonder if Monarch Lu Xiang has any news from the Dongqing Temple master, and when she will return.”

Shu Yu withdrew her gaze, pressing her lips, “Master went to the capital, likely won’t return for a year or two.”

“What? So long?”

“But I recently saw Master and mentioned your issue to her.”

Old Master Miao abruptly stood up, excitedly asking, “What did the temple master say?”
