Chapter 1261: Chapter 1261: Meng Yunzheng Plans to Buy the Black Market

Shu Yu was just planning to talk to Meng Yunzheng about this matter when she heard him ask, “I heard the black market is being sold?”

“Xiang Weinan told you?”

Meng Yunzheng looked serious, “No, I heard it by chance when I went to the prefecture. The buyer seems to be someone running a brothel there? From what they said, it seems they haven’t agreed on the price yet.”

But it’s getting close, probably just dragging on for two or three more days.

Shu Yu felt a headache, and she shared the news from Xiang Weinan with him.

“If they really acquire it, we’ll be the first to suffer the consequences.”

Meng Yunzheng laughed, “Then what do you think about me buying that black market property?”

Shu Yu turned her head abruptly to look at him, “You? What would you buy it for?”

“You forgot what I want to do in the future?”

Of course, Shu Yu hadn’t forgotten. In the future, he wanted to earn a title, then open his own academy, become a Mountain Master, and teach students.

She suddenly felt her breath quicken, looking up at the black market not far away.

Yes, the black market already has buildings and is such a quiet place. With a slight change in layout, it could be the perfect academy.

Why hadn’t she thought of it?

“Are you really going to buy it? But isn’t it too soon now? Earning your title will take at least a few years, wouldn’t this place just be wasting away then? Plus, the price is indeed not cheap.”

Meng Yunzheng smiled and said, “But if you were to build a new academy from scratch, it’s not necessarily cheaper. Moreover, in two months it will be the New Year. In February next year, I can participate in the county exam, and then the prefecture and capital exams. Once I become a Scholar, establishing the academy and recruiting students can be put on the agenda.”

Initially, there’s no need to recruit too many students. As he rises step by step, more students will come upon hearing of it. It’s supposed to grow gradually from small to large.

Seeing that he always had a plan, Shu Yu felt at ease.

If his academy is at the black market, then wouldn’t that make it convenient for her?

“Alright, then buy it.” Shu Yu’s gloom was instantly swept away, and she suddenly thought of something, “Do you have money on you?”

She had little money left.

Meng Yunzheng, “I do. Before I left the capital, the Fifth Prince gave me fifty thousand taels of silver.”

Shu Yu looked shocked, “So much?”

“It’s the reward for helping him over these years. He said since I’m preparing for the imperial examination, I won’t have time to earn money next. Money will be needed for living and studying these years, so he just gave it to me. Hmm… It could be called a hemorrhage.”

Fifty thousand taels of silver, even for the Fifth Prince, isn’t easy to provide.

Especially considering he has a lot of people under him, with many places needing money.

At first, the Fifth Prince casually asked Meng Yunzheng, not knowing Meng Yunzheng wouldn’t be modest at all. When it was offered, he accepted it outright.

After all, he would have to marry, and Yu being capable, he couldn’t be too shabby.

The Fifth Prince nearly fainted upon hearing this. With Meng Yunzheng’s talent, worth a fortune, how could he worry about not having money?

In any case, Meng Yunzheng indeed got his hands on fifty thousand taels.

Now that there’s money, Shu Yu was relieved, “Then it’s better to do it today than another day, shall we go discuss the purchase of that hill and the black market now?”

“Sounds good.” Once they’ve negotiated, he can fetch the money later.

The two first turned back to the manor to tidy up, then took Ying Xi and Xia Yan, and the four of them went up the mountain together.

But what they didn’t expect was that the other party would outright refuse them.
