Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1251: Chapter 1251: Hangover

Shu Yu didn’t follow them, “Grandmother, I’ll have the coachman take you there.”

The old lady waved her hand, “What do we need a coachman for? The place isn’t far, we can walk.”

She said to Lanhua, “We’ll just say we’re going to his shop to get scissors sharpened, and take a look at his character and appearance. We’ll choose first, and if you don’t find him suitable, we’ll just act like we never met him. If you’re satisfied, then we’ll have Lord Yu make the introduction.”

Shu Yu couldn’t help but shake her head and laugh upon seeing her enthusiasm.

After watching them leave, Shu Yu also bid farewell to Cuihua.

She came over today not only to bring the old lady but also to see Meng Yunzheng.

Zhao Xi bought a house and moved out, but Meng Yunzheng and Meng Pei were still living in Liufang Alley.

Zhao Xi wanted them to move into the new house too, as there were many rooms there.

However, the Meng father and son found it inappropriate. If he were unmarried, living together would be fine. But now that he’s married, he has his own family, so living at the Zhao’s wouldn’t be convenient.

Zhao Xi couldn’t convince them, so he didn’t insist.

After leaving Cuihua’s house, Shu Yu walked to the left side of the alley. After passing about a dozen houses, she stopped and knocked on a courtyard door.

Meng Yunzheng opened it, but he appeared somewhat fatigued.

Seeing Shu Yu, his eyes brightened slightly, and he stepped aside to let her in, “Why did you come over at this time?”

“I just came to accompany Grandmother to see Lanhua, so I thought I’d drop by. You seem to be low on energy. Did you drink much last night?”

Meng Yunzheng pinched his temples, “Yes, I drank quite a bit on Zhao Xi’s behalf.”

At Zhao Xi’s wedding, he had only Elder Zhao as a relative. But over the years, he traveled far and wide and met quite a few friends.

Zhao Xi wanted a lively wedding, so he invited many good friends from around Dongan Province.

These young, energetic people got quite rowdy.

Since Zhao Xi was the groom, they didn’t want to pester him too much, fearing they’d scare the bride and if she ran away, it’d be a great offense.

After a few cups, Zhao Xi was sent back to the bridal chamber.

Remaining were Xiang Weinan and Meng Yunzheng. The former, a county magistrate, claimed he had official duties the next day and couldn’t stay long. He drank a couple of cups and left unceremoniously.

These people weren’t familiar with Xiang Weinan, and with his status, naturally it wasn’t suitable to force him.

However, it was different for Meng Yunzheng. He and Zhao Xi had been together for years. Zhao Xi’s friends were also his, and they were very close.

Knowing he too was betrothed, they targeted him.

Meng Yunzheng was quite helpless. He was in a good mood, so he had a few extra drinks.

The feeling after a hangover wasn’t pleasant.

Seeing him massage his brow again, Shu Yu went to the kitchen, “Let me make you some hangover soup.”

Meng Yunzheng, however, pulled her hand, bringing her back to sit opposite him, “No need, I took some hangover medicine, I’ll be fine after a while. No worries. Don’t busy yourself, sit down for a chat.”

Shu Yu could only sit back down, looked around, and realized she’d been there for a while yet hadn’t seen Meng Pei, curious, she asked, “Where’s Uncle Meng?”

Meng Yunzheng poured two cups of water, “He went out, saying he wanted to wander around the county town, get familiar with it, and see if he can find a job.”

Shu Yu was surprised, “Looking for a job? What does Uncle Meng plan to do?”
