She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

”Through comparison with videos and photos, we found that the male individuals connected to Su Chen in the video and photos, those from dormitory 4508, were all present except for Xu Zhao. Because these areas are usually covered by clothes, it’s impossible to discover them without careful examination.”

So, Zhou Jiayang lied that day.

The person probably didn’t expect that soon after lying, they would be killed by the murderer.

Seeing Tan Ying’s eyes almost bursting with fire, Zhao Kehan sighed. He actually somewhat understood the actions of Tan Ying and her husband; after all, Su Chen committed suicide, and it was under the eyes of many.

If the deeds of the students in dormitory 4508 were only exposed, the most that would happen would be some years in prison for them.

As parents, how could Tan Ying and her husband be satisfied? They probably felt as if only by tearing them apart would their anger be appeased.

So, they decided to kill them with their own hands.

He had encountered quite a few similar cases, but it was rare to see people as bold, careful, and audacious as these two, who nearly killed everyone in dormitory 4508.

But having committed the crime, there would be traces left behind. He didn’t believe in a perfect crime in this world. If a case remains unsolved, it must be because the perpetrators didn’t do a good enough job or because he hadn’t yet discovered the anomaly.

In retrospect, there were indeed many flaws.

The reason they were misled for so long was that dormitory 4508 collectively concealed the guilt they bore towards Su Chen. Not even Jiang Yizhou’s death raised suspicions of murder until Liang Cheng being tied and thrown from the building became such an obvious declaration; it was hard not to suspect a connection to Su Chen.

Tan Ying’s pupils suddenly contracted, but she quickly laughed, ”Yes, not only that, Officer Zhao, they deserve to die, they all deserve to die.”

”Officer Zhao, don’t they deserve to die?” Tan Ying asked with a smile, though there were tears in her eyes, ”That dead girl of ours was doing perfectly fine until they ruined her. Do you know how amazing she was? She not only stopped asking for money after starting college but frequently sent money to the family. Everyone said we raised her well, said she was smart and destined for great things. She just had one bad habit, liked to spend money recklessly, buying all sorts of good-looking but useless things. Officer Zhao, do you know how outstanding she was?”

”Do you know how well-behaved she was? Many people liked her too.”

”Aside from the bad habit of spending recklessly, she also had a bit of blind kindness. We even thought she would become a police officer like you, Officer Zhao, but she chose to be a lawyer. Actually, that’s good too—being a lawyer makes money without being so dangerous, isn’t that great?”

”But she’s dead. She didn’t show any abnormal signs before she died. We couldn’t believe she would commit suicide.”

”Such a good, cheerful, sunny person, how could she commit suicide?”

Zhao Kehan remained silent, the sharpness in his eyes gone.

Having conducted a thorough investigation into Su Chen this time, he knew all too well how outstanding this nineteen-year-old girl was.

It could be said that becoming a great lawyer was a certainty if not for this incident.

She was excellent, with a great personality, as well as being a person with a sense of justice and kindness. She didn’t seem like someone who would commit suicide, yet she indeed jumped to her death in front of everyone.

That case was his responsibility too, and after repeatedly reviewing the video of Su Chen’s jump, he still didn’t think she was the type of person who would jump over something she couldn’t get past.

But almost all the people possibly connected to Su Chen’s death were dead, so it’s likely hard to find answers from them.

As for the surviving Xu Zhao, he didn’t think the person would tell the police all the truth either.

”What a pity, one was missed,” Tan Ying wiped away the tears on her face, looking bitter, ”Even though he wasn’t in the video or pictures, he was an informed bystander; what good could come from anyone in the same dormitory? That’s why he was saved for last.”

”They harmed my daughter. Why should they live well?” Tan Ying laughed heartily, ”Just putting them in prison, that’s way too lenient.”

”Explain the process of your crime,” Zhao Kehan asked only after Tan Ying calmed down.

He didn’t say anything to imply she shouldn’t have killed, nor did he wish to. He was a police officer, and his meaning for existence was to seek truth and restore the facts, despite some outcomes being saddening and regretful, he still had to do it.

”Just as you speculated, Officer Zhao, I utilized Sun Ling, initially deliberately picking quarrels to develop a habit. Timing it right so that she wouldn’t seek others in the meantime. The night Jiang Yizhou died, I first got out through the window, exploiting a blind spot in the surveillance to go to the boys’ dorm. With assistance from my husband Su Youcheng, it was possible to know when he would return to the dormitory. Drawing him out was simple; after all, he wouldn’t think anyone meant to kill him.”

”So, I directly sent him a message, impersonating Su Chen’s mother, saying I wanted to talk to him...”

”We did data recovery on Jiang Yizhou’s phone and also checked your phone before, but there was no such message,” Zhao Kehan frowned, yet he could tell Tan Ying was not lying about this.

To his surprise, Tan Ying laughed, ”Officer Zhao, do you believe in ghosts?”

This puzzled Zhao Kehan further, but after hearing such words often, he couldn’t help but take it a bit more seriously and didn’t try persuading people against superstition as usual.

Instead, he asked, ”Have you seen one?”

He recalled that male classmate named An Shuo, who had also said similar things.

An Shuo—the name crossed Zhao Kehan’s mind. Although investigated, there was indeed no motive or time for An Shuo to commit the crime, even if he appeared around Jiang Yizhou after Su Chen’s death—it seemed very off.

But with the previous cases, there really was no connection with An Shuo.

Returning from his thoughts, he focused on Tan Ying, waiting for her next words.

”Officer Zhao, there really are ghosts in this world.”

”Maybe it was a ghost that made the message disappear?” Tan Ying spoke with empty eyes, ”I wonder if our dead girl could become a ghost—if only she could, how great would that be? She’s so formidable, she would surely be a formidable ghost too, and no one would dare bully her then.”

Seeing Tan Ying’s insane demeanor, Zhao Kehan’s prior seriousness vanished. Perhaps, with this great vengeance fulfilled, the mother’s spirit couldn’t hold up anymore.

Zhao Kehan went over to Su Youcheng’s side, and shortly after, using the evidence they had gathered, they overturned the alibis for the times of death of Liang Cheng and Zhou Jiayang. Su Youcheng couldn’t argue either, cursing those little bastards from 4508 as damned.

He had used his status and uniform as a security guard to deceive Liang Cheng Yang, taking advantage of his solitude at night to attack him and take him to the rooftop.

In theory, Zhou Jiayang had already suspected Su Chen’s parents and knew of Su Youcheng, so he wouldn’t be easily fooled, but Su Youcheng confessed to having used a colleague to deceive and then knockout Zhou Jiayang in a surveillance blind spot, taking him to the rooftop. Indeed, fibers from Su Youcheng’s clothes were extracted from Zhou Jiayang’s cuff links.

While investigating the teachers’ dormitory surveillance, Zhou Jiayang was coming out of Lu Miao’s dorm when his incident occurred later.

According to Lu Miao, after class he was passing by the principal’s dormitory when he heard Zhou Jiayang shouting inside, so he knocked to ask what was wrong. Zhou Jiayang opened the door and said he was very scared and asked if he could stay there for a while. After a short time, Zhou Jiayang dashed out after seeing some sort of message.
