Gun of Ashes

The destination is almost reached, and the team will split here. Some will head to their deaths, while others might survive. But just then, a piercing wind howled, metal fragments like racing swords sliced through the bodies of soldiers and medical personnel. Amidst blood and severed flesh, blood-stained iron shards embedded into the walls, followed by a more intense tremor exploding.

A mechanical severed arm viciously smashed into the team, knocking Blue Jade and others directly into the dark red stagnant water.

The view was completely covered by the heavy rain, and breathing under the fierce wind seemed extremely difficult.

”Night Owl!”

Accompanied by a roar, the First Generation Armor crashed through the storm and swung its heavy Great Sword fiercely at the shadow, but clearly, her attack was ineffective. The Great Sword sparked violently and was deflected shortly thereafter.

It was the armored demon, suddenly launching a stealth attack using the cover of the water vapor. The crippled Third Generation Armor was powerless to resist it, and an entire arm was ripped off, then it toppled Blue Jade and others.

At this moment, Night Owl’s face stiffened, his bloody mouth opened behind the face armor, forcefully gnawing at the sturdy external armor. He could smell the foul stench in the water vapor, and the sound of armor shattering was so clear at that moment.

He was like a delicately packaged dessert, the armored demon couldn’t resist tearing Night Owl apart to feast on the fresh flesh.

The framework of the entire armor was almost fracturing, Night Owl’s half arm was completely exposed, bent at a bizarre angle due to brutal dismantling, blood flowing down his fingertips.

With the only remaining arm, he grabbed the armor musket from the weapon rack, the steam engine exerting its final effort, roaring as it operated.

”You love eating, don’t you?”

The calm voice was filled with anger, blinding flames burst between the armor and the demon, all iron armor protected it except for the unguarded mouth, scorching fire mixed with molten iron poured into the demon’s mouth. The intense pain finally made it release Night Owl, and at such close range, the already battered Third Generation Armor completely broke down, the entire cockpit half melted away.

The sharp sword light fell once more, Percival struck the armored demon with a single sword, then pulled the unconscious Night Owl from the metal cage.

More roars sounded subsequently, crashing into eardrums, bringing pain. Cold rain slapped Arthur’s face, the extreme chill awakening him somewhat, he then struggled to rise from the ground.

The recent strike scattered the team, some are dead, some still unconscious on the ground, others picking up weapons to shoot those demons trying to approach.

Arthur lifted his head, then saw the girl rising from the ground just like him.

Eve looked at him with some terror, while Arthur also gazed at her, somewhat lost.

”Run!”

A momentary blankness in his mind, Arthur grimaced, picking up a weapon scattered nearby.

Behind Eve was the entrance, though unclear about what awaited beyond, it was certainly better than staying here.

”You promised me.”

Arthur again shouted at Eve, the girl’s mind at that moment was blank, like an unconscious machine, obeying Arthur’s command she turned and ran, her speed swift.

Watching the gradually receding figure, Arthur surprisingly felt a bit happy, he then started running too, in a different direction.

As long as they could pilot that armor, there was still hope; just endure until Gawain finishes his battle, the situation here could turn.

Suddenly, Arthur became optimistic, though unclear where such feelings stemmed from.

Perhaps Eve’s escape relaxed his vigilance, he couldn’t realize the approaching danger, in his eyes only the armor slept there, sharp claws slicing through the rain screen, seemingly about to slash Arthur’s head in the next second, but then Arthur heard it, beneath the rain screen a strange song sounded, he seemed to remember hearing it somewhere before.

The running figure paused, grabbed by the collar and forcibly pulled to a stop, avoiding the demon’s strike, then the Willow Blade penetrated the demon’s eye alongside the side of his face, followed by the metallic clang.

The Folding Blade swung a sharp semicircle, completely cutting off the demon’s arm, mixed with cold rain, blood fell like a crimson curtain.

Arthur fell back to the ground, while a crimson shadow leapt over him.
