Super Gene Hunting Ground

”Sister, could it be that you’ve fallen for Young Master Yang?”

Facing the question from her junior sister Xiao Lan, Lan Xin was momentarily stunned.

She had asked herself whether she liked Yang Xiao, since they had quite a few interactions in the desert, and she did have a good impression of him, but as to what Yang Xiao felt for her, she couldn’t determine.

Yang Xiao had mentioned wanting to open a transmission channel from Nanmu City to Divine Mountain, but now nearly a month had passed without any development. From this viewpoint, was she perhaps overthinking it?

Lan Xin gave a faint smile and said:

”I declined Brother Mo Yan not because of Young Master Yang. Even if I hadn’t met Young Master Yang, I still wouldn’t have accepted Brother Mo Yan.”

”Sister, don’t blame me for being nosy, but actually, Brother Mo is handsome and has high cultivation. He has always liked you, and you both are from the same sect as fellow disciples, so why not?”

Xiao Lan was somewhat puzzled.

Lan Xin chuckled lightly:

”Since you like Brother Mo so much, how about I introduce him to you?”

Xiao Lan’s face turned red, and she retorted:

”Sister, you just like to tease me! Brother Mo likes you.”

”Hehe, no more jokes. Are all the junior sisters ready? Tomorrow morning, we are going to exchange swordsmanship with Brother Mo and others from the North faction, make sure everyone is prepared.”

”Don’t worry, everyone is prepared. However, if Brother Mo has truly broken through the Enhanced Gene this time, we might not be their match.”

”Does it matter whether we are their match or not? It’s just a friendly exchange after all. It’s a hundreds-of-years-old tradition of our Shenming Mountain Sect, merely a cultivation practice.”

...

Yang Xiao stepped out of the Transmission Array and looked around, the whole world was covered in snow. In the distance, the mountains were blanketed with white, and everything around was enveloped by snow, except for a huge lake nearby which was not only unfrozen but also had white mist drifting over it.

”This must be the legendary Divine Mountain Yaochi, which is said to never freeze all year round.”

Yang Xiao muttered to himself, looked around, but saw no building structures belonging to the Shenming Mountain Sect, which was unlike anything he had seen in Nanmu City, Shanyun City, and other places.

In cities, Genetic Stores were usually next to building structures, but here he saw no such buildings.

Yang Xiao entered the Genetic Store, where a young man was idly playing Go by himself, manipulating spiritual power.

This place rarely did business, the quietest Genetic Store Yang Xiao had ever seen.

Yang Xiao walked over, but the store owner didn’t even lift his head, still concentrating on the game.

Yang Xiao asked:

”Excuse me, is this Divine Mountain?”

The store owner still didn’t look up, just hummed in acknowledgment, seemingly engrossed in playing both sides of the game himself.

Yang Xiao noticed that the shop owner was troubled by a ko fight in the Go game, with black and white stones contending back and forth for the ko spot. After briefly scanning the whole game, Yang Xiao pointed with his finger to a specific spot on the board.

The young Genetic Store owner glanced over, then had a sudden realization. He placed a black stone, and the board situation immediately reversed.

The owner looked up at Yang Xiao, expressing his surprise:

”Sir, you’re an expert!”

”Heh, I wouldn’t say an expert, just a little knowledgeable.”

Yang Xiao knew that these aliens were generally not very good at Go, so he was indeed an expert compared to them.

”How far is it from here to the Shenming Mountain Sect?”

Yang Xiao asked again.

The young owner immediately replied with a smile:

”Are you heading to the Southern faction or the Northern faction?”

Yang Xiao was startled, vaguely remembering Lan Xin mentioning something about the Southern and Northern factions, and knowing roughly that the Southern faction consisted of girls, so he said:

”I’m looking for the Southern faction, the one with all the girls.”

”Ah, that’s the Southern faction then. Just head south from here, about five kilometers away.”

After speaking, the young owner looked at Yang Xiao and added another question:

””

”Are you in a hurry?”

”No, not in a hurry.”

”How about a game of Go with me then?”

Yang Xiao smiled, assuming the young owner of the Genetic Store was too bored and lonely in this desolate place. It was rare to see an outsider; even Lan Xin and the others probably didn’t come here every day.

Yang Xiao checked the time and it was still early, so he said:

”Alright.”

Then, the young owner and Yang Xiao sat opposite each other and started to play.

The young owner moved his Divine Sense slightly, and a black stone landed on the board. He then looked at Yang Xiao and said:

”You can just use your fingers to play.”

He didn’t expect Yang Xiao to be able to use spiritual power to play Go, he just hoped to play a game with Yang Xiao and learn some Go techniques.

Yang Xiao smiled slightly, his Divine Sense stirred, and a white stone landed on the board.

The young owner suddenly stared at Yang Xiao, dumbstruck.

”There’s no need to be surprised, I’ve learned your Spiritual Control Technique.”

The young man was slightly amazed and said:

”Is that so? It seems sir is someone with destiny. We do not teach our planet’s Spiritual Power Technique to Earthlings.”

”That may not be the case. I attended the City King’s training conference last time, and Master Long taught it personally.”

Yang Xiao casually mentioned, in fact, Master Long just mentioned it last time and didn’t actually teach the Spiritual Control Technique, many people even came to learn from Yang Xiao.

The young man immediately responded with a formal tone:

”My apologies, I see that sir is a City King.”

Yang Xiao smiled, and the two continued their game.

In less than half an hour, Yang Xiao had soundly defeated the young man in front of him using the Spiritual Control Technique, leaving the young man profoundly shocked, his forehead covered in beads of sweat.

The young man’s inner shock was beyond Yang Xiao’s comprehension. To know, with Yang Xiao’s chess skills plus the Spiritual Power Technique, he would be considered a Great Grandmaster level powerhouse on their planet.

On their planet, there were training centers specifically for training spiritual power.

Using Go to train spiritual power had only become popular in the past few decades.

Yang Xiao’s current lack was spiritual power, but his Go skills were more than ten times better than the young man in front of him, wasn’t it?

It was like a supreme master whose every move could strike the opponent’s weaknesses, deadly at every turn, leaving the opponent unable to respond.

Yang Xiao stood up to take his leave, and the young owner respectfully escorted him to the gate.

”What is sir’s esteemed name?”

”My name is Yang Xiao, the City Lord of Nanmu City.”

”My name is Gu Qing. If Young Master Yang has finished his business and has some spare time, could you come for another game with me?”

Playing Go with Yang Xiao could greatly enhance his spiritual power.

Yang Xiao smiled:

”Sure, I will definitely come to play another game with you before I leave since I’ll be using your Transmission Array to return.”

”Thank you in advance, Young Master Yang!”

The young man said joyfully.

Yang Xiao said his goodbyes and walked along the mountain path.

The path was a 2-3 meter wide mountain trail, covered with snow, and there were a few footprints.

Yang Xiao rode on his Flame Horse, following the path slowly, admiring the snow scenery of Divine Mountain on both sides, and soon arrived at a halfway up the mountain.

There was an archway on the path that led halfway up the mountain, on it were written five big characters ”Shenming Mountain Sect South Garden”.
