Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao returned to Nanmu City and as he stepped out of the Transmission Array, he felt a pain in his chest. Looking down, he saw the tip of a long spear embedded in his chest, staining his shirt with a large patch of blood.

Fortunately, the pangolin Armor protected him, and the spearhead did not penetrate too deeply, only piercing through the armor and several centimeters into his chest, without damaging any internal organs.

Yang Xiao was shaken by the experience; the people from Tianzhou were truly fearsome, and in terms of Genetic Evolution Level, probably even more powerful than many masters in Xuanming Country.

Just as Yang Xiao exited the Transmission Array, a nearby guard rushed over.

”Boss, you’re back!”

”Boss, you’re bleeding from your chest, what happened? Is it serious?”

Yang Xiao waved his hand, took out a Small Blood Pill and swallowed it, saying,

”It’s nothing. How can one hunt monsters every day and not get injured? Has everything been alright at home while I was away?”

”Boss, you’re back, a big problem has occurred.”

Yang Xiao was startled,

”What big problem?”

Just as the guard was about to speak, Huang Wen accompanied by Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, Chen Fei, and others quickly ran out from the building.

”Yang Xiao, you’re back, why haven’t you returned for so long? You should at least come home to let us know you’re safe, everyone has been worried!”

Huang Wen complained upon seeing Yang Xiao.

Next to her, Qin Yu and Deng Xiao flashed joyful smiles.

Yang Xiao laughed,

”What, missing me after not seeing me for a few days?”

The others giggled and responded,

”Yes, Your Majesty!”

Huang Wen immediately gave Yang Xiao a look, ”You start with your jokes the moment you’re back, don’t you feel embarrassed? Did you meet some girl outside that led you astray?”

Eventually, the incident of Yang Xiao taking away thirteen boxes of tissues was known to Huang Wen and the girls, and they felt somewhat jealous.

Yang Xiao was dumbfounded and said with a chuckle,

”Just talking nonsense. With so many beauties at home, I’m barely able to handle it, how could my heart wander to wildflowers and weeds outside?”

Huang Wen, Qin Yu, and the others collectively rolled their eyes at Yang Xiao.

Just as Huang Wen was about to tease Yang Xiao, she suddenly noticed the fresh blood on Yang Xiao’s chest and cried out,

”Oh my, you’re injured? What happened?”

”Oh, it’s just a minor injury, no worries, I’ve already taken a Small Blood Pill.”

Yang Xiao could tell that Huang Wen, Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, and others were really worried about him, and felt an overwhelming sense of warmth and love inside.

Having people in this world who care and worry about oneself is a great happiness!

”By the way, did something happen at home? Why did I hear the guard say there was a big issue? Where are Xiao Zhe and the others?”

Huang Wen said,

”Don’t rush, let’s go upstairs to the office and I’ll explain everything to you.”

Just as Yang Xiao was about to head towards the nearby building, he suddenly felt something was off. He turned around to look around and exclaimed in surprise,

”The snow has melted?”

At that moment, the streets and rooftops of Nanmu City, despite still being partly covered in snow, had at least half of their thickness melted as compared to before.

Moreover, water dripped continuously from the rooftops, making ticking sounds, and the square in front of them was a mixture of snow and water.

Snowwater was slowly flowing down from elevated places to the ground.

The sky was bright and sunny, and the temperature had also warmed up considerably.

This was the overall environmental change Yang Xiao suddenly felt. Having not returned to Nanmu City for over a month, he was naturally surprised to see these changes.

”Since you left a month ago, the snow has started to melt. Recently, it’s melting at an alarming rate. Based on the current pace, it might completely melt in about a month.”

Huang Wen walked towards the nearby Century Commercial Square with Yang Xiao, briefing him as they proceeded.

”One month ago, the snow began to melt, and gradually, problems arose.”

”What problems?”

”Out of nowhere, a large number of Mutated Creatures appeared. Initially, there were only a few, but now their numbers are increasing rapidly. The monsters on Biyun Mountain have become a plague, and people from Kongming Academy and Xianan University can only feel safe within the aura near the Genetic Store.”

”What about the caves at Kongming Academy?”

Yang Xiao held sentimental feelings for the caves that he personally oversaw the construction of.

”The caves have been under the protection of the orange aura for a while now. However, the Mutant Monsters in the nearby mountains are so numerous that during the day, they daringly rush down the mountains to attack people. Xiao Zhe, Zhao Gang, Gong Yu, and others have been hunting these monsters recently. Especially some strongholds that have been besieged by monsters, people inside can hardly take a step without using the Transmission Array. About a dozen strongholds in the suburbs of Nanmu City have been surrounded by monsters...”

”Is it that serious?”

Yang Xiao suddenly recalled the issue of the desert base shutting out the people from Xuanming District. He had an epiphany that now when the city’s surroundings were swarmed with Mutant Monsters, there was no need to hunt monsters in the desert. But if the monsters were overly abundant, it wasn’t good news either, posing serious threats to civilians’ safety.

”How’s the situation in Shanyun City?”

Yang Xiao and the others returned to the conference room on the second floor and sat down to discuss.

Huang Wen walked up to a map on the wall and detailed the situation to Yang Xiao.

”Shanyun City is similar to here. One situation is that Star Moon Lake hasn’t fully thawed yet, but the ice on the upper layer has melted more than 2 meters. With the melted ice water from other places flowing into Star Moon Lake, the water level in Star Moon Lake has risen quite rapidly, likely causing floods.”

”We have a small population, and even if the flood comes, it wouldn’t cause us major harm for the time being. Did you manage to store the fish meat I asked you to dry last time?”

Yang Xiao asked.

”Food isn’t a problem. We are able to hunt plenty of wild beasts daily. Previously, the cold prevented people from wandering outside, but now, it’s the monsters blocking the way. Even every corner of Nanmu City is filled with various monsters. If one or two persons go out, unexpectedly a monster might rush out from a corner and kill them, thus everyone in Nanmu City is quite anxious.”

”Is it really that serious?”

”Of course. Haven’t you seen Xiao Zhe, Gong Yu, Zhao Gang and others aren’t here? We have to patrol during the day now and can’t practice the Genetic Transformation Technique together. They have gone to various places to strengthen defenses and patrol.”

”What about Long Yongjun’s one thousand elite troops in Star Moon Town?”

”They’re stationed in Star Moon Town!”

”Now that we can’t dig Ice Fish in Star Moon Town, what are they still doing there?”

Yang Xiao casually said:

”Get Xia Luo, Long Yongjun, Zhao Gang, Gong Yu, and others back here immediately for a meeting.”

”Alright, boss, there’s another situation!”

Huang Wen mentioned.

”What’s the situation?”

”Remember Xiang Bridge?”

”Hmm?”

”Before the severe winter, there was a Giant Snake coiled on the surface of Kongming Bridge. Now, that Giant Snake has appeared again, and it seems to have evolved to a higher level. Even Gong Yu was no match for it and was defeated,

The Giant Snake has invaded our Nanmu City district several times over consecutive days, devouring over a dozen of our people. The threat this snake poses is enormous; if we don’t eliminate this snake, we will never have peace!”

”Damn, so many things happened while I was away? Even a snake dares to harass you all?”

Yang Xiao slammed the table and was ready to go out and kill the Giant Snake immediately.

Qin Yu held Yang Xiao back saying:

”Don’t rush. That snake has always been coiling on Kongming Bridge. Didn’t you want to call Xia Luo, Gong Yu, and others back for a meeting? Wait till everyone arrives, then discuss how to dispose of that Giant Snake.”

Qin Yu and the others were afraid that in a moment of impulsiveness, Yang Xiao might lose his life.

Last time, Gong Yu and Xia Luo, along with over a hundred experts, attacked the Giant Snake but were still defeated. Yang Xiao alone wouldn’t possibly stand a chance.

Huang Wen and others speculated that the Giant Snake had reached the Advanced Enhanced Gene level.
