Super Gene Hunting Ground

The next morning, Yang Xiao stood at the entrance of the cave and saw the chaos in the distant canyon where the chimpanzee had fought with the Sand Demon the previous night.

After waking up, the chimpanzee went to the nearby stream to drink some water and then said to Yang Xiao:

”Yang Xiao, wait for me.”

After that, it leapt towards the distant forest.

A moment later, there were several screams, and then Yang Xiao heard the sound of large trees breaking in the distance.

The chimpanzee came over carrying two mutant wolves, each three to four meters long, and a tree trunk about ten meters long on its back.

The chimpanzee threw the tree trunk and the wolves at the entrance of the cave.

”Yang Xiao, make a fire, roast the meat.”

Yang Xiao nodded, thinking to himself that this chimpanzee seemed to be addicted to roasted meat and that it would probably find nothing else tasty if he was not around.

With bare hands, the chimpanzee stripped the branches from the trunk and stacked them together.

Yang Xiao took out a lighter to ignite the branches, then set up a makeshift grill, skinned the wolves, removed the organs, and placed the entire wolves on the campfire to roast.

After more than half an hour, the aroma of the roasted meat wafted through the air, and the chimpanzee, looking at the golden-brown meat, sniffed and drooled.

”Yang Xiao, eat?”

The chimpanzee looked at Yang Xiao like a child who hadn’t eaten meat for a long time.

Yang Xiao smiled, took out a salt bottle, and evenly sprinkled the salt over the meat, nearly using up the entire bottle.

Yang Xiao then tore off a wolf leg for himself and said to the chimpanzee:

”You can eat now, the rest is all yours.”

”Hehe, Yang Xiao, good!”

The chimpanzee grinned at Yang Xiao, tore off a wolf leg, and started taking big bites.

”Hehe, delicious!”

The chimpanzee gave Yang Xiao a thumbs up.

Yang Xiao ate about ten pounds of wolf meat and handed the remaining wolf legs to the chimpanzee, who happily started devouring it.

There was still another wolf that Yang Xiao couldn’t eat, so he asked the chimpanzee:

”Do you still want to eat this wolf? I can roast it for you.”

The chimpanzee grinned and said:

”Yang Xiao, good person!”

Yang Xiao was stunned, had he just received another ”good person card”?

After cleaning up the wolf meat, Yang Xiao roasted it on the campfire. When it was almost cooked, he took out a salt pouch from his backpack, refilled the salt bottle, and evenly sprinkled the salt on the roast.

”It’s ready, eat slowly, I’m going to rest inside the cave.”

”Yang Xiao, good person!”

The chimpanzee happily laughed.

Being called a good person by a giant chimpanzee, Yang Xiao could only smile wryly.

Yang Xiao returned to the cave and took out a black bottle from his space ring. This bottle had previously contained the essences of no less than 300 large mutant monsters and several hundred small bees and ants.

Yang Xiao drank a gulp of the white liquid from the bottle, a strong current surged into his body, traveled throughout, and was eventually absorbed and dissipated by his body.

Every gulp required him to rest for a few minutes, waiting for the current to be absorbed and disappear.

About half an hour later, he finished drinking the liquid in the black bottle. He checked his Genetic Data System in his mind, and with the energy stored from last time, he could now enhance his Defense attribute by three points.

Thus, Yang Xiao’s enhanced Genetic Data System was as follows:

Strength 50, Agility 50, Defense 50, Wisdom 40.

Now he was only 10 points short of the Wisdom Attribute to advance to Enhanced Gene Intermediate.

Having finished eating the two roasted wolves, which probably were the tastiest food it had ever eaten in its life, the chimpanzee patted its somewhat bloated stomach, stood up, and called out to the cave:

”Yang Xiao, come out and fight.”

Yang Xiao walked out of the cave, stretched his limbs, feeling exhilarated as if rejuvenated every time his Genetic Attribute was enhanced.

”Black Jinkang, let’s go. Just to be clear, I’ll do my best, but if I can’t beat that lion, don’t blame me.”

”Hehe, Yang Xiao, you’ll definitely make it!”

The chimpanzee said confidently, patting his sturdy chest.

Yang Xiao thought that with the Flame Horse, there would be a better chance of winning. Unfortunately, the Flame Horse ran away yesterday, and he didn’t know whether it was safe and had returned to the Genetic Store with Zhi Ruo and the others.

Black Jinkang led the way into the canyon.

In the middle of the canyon was a stream, and Black Jinkang continued to walk along the stream.

They encountered many monsters along the way, all of which quickly scattered and hid at the sight of the chimpanzee.

Yang Xiao followed the chimpanzee for about an hour, the sound of the stream growing louder and the water getting deeper, from initially just a few centimeters to now about half a meter deep.

The gorilla was steady and unhurried along the way, emitting a confidently assured demeanor.

Suddenly, the gorilla stopped moving.

Yang Xiao looked ahead and saw a huge lion about ten meters tall standing majestically on a small hill a few hundred meters ahead, its whole body covered in golden fur, watching the chimpanzee imposingly.

Beside the lion was a fox about three meters tall, also watching the chimpanzee.

Yang Xiao took out the Golden Eagle Bow and loaded a Fire Element Arrow.

Although he knew his Elemental Arrow couldn’t affect the lion or the High-Level Enhanced Gene fox, he had to put up some sort of afront, right? The bow and arrow could at least attack from a distance and delay the opponent.

Upon seeing the lion and the fox, the chimpanzee became excited and roared towards the distant lion:

”Ao—”

The roar echoed through the sky, lingering in the canyon.

Yang Xiao quickly pulled the chimpanzee by the arm and said:

”Calm down, calm down, take a deep breath!”

The chimpanzee, still emotionally charged, said:

”Despicable lion, wretched fox!”

”Only by staying calm will we be able to kill them later. Don’t be hasty, especially when you’re fighting the lion. Hastiness can make it easy for the opponent to defeat you. You need to stabilize, first defend against their attacks, then look for opportunities to counterattack. Later, you fight the lion, and I’ll take on the fox.”

”Ok, Yang Xiao, you are my brother!”

The chimpanzee patted Yang Xiao’s shoulder and slowly moved forward, stopping again when they were about a hundred meters from the small hill.

”Despicable lion, come down and fight!”

The chimpanzee shouted at the golden lion on the small hill.

The golden lion looked at Yang Xiao and said,

”Hehe, silly chimpanzee, you even brought a human to help? You are truly a disgrace to the animal kingdom! I despise you!”

Upon hearing this, Yang Xiao thought,

”Is this lion some kind of joke? Calling it a disgrace to the animal kingdom, why can’t humans help animals? Weren’t dogs and cats friends of humans before? This lion is seriously hilarious!”

The chimpanzee proudly pointed at Yang Xiao,

”He is my brother!”

Yang Xiao gave the chimpanzee a dumbfounded look, baffled—wasn’t a chimpanzee supposed to be Black Jinkang’s brother? Since when did I become a chimpanzee?

”Hehe, silly chimpanzee, be careful when being friends with humans, you might be betrayed by them and one day skinned and eaten, haha....”

Yang Xiao felt the lion’s laughter was truly grating.

”Roar, my brother isn’t that kind of human, don’t insult my brother, come down and fight!”

The chimpanzee roared, leaping tens of meters high, charging at the distant lion.

Yang Xiao was startled, what happened to staying calm?
