Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

Rumble!

The colossal Demon‑Subduing Tower descended from the sky, its shadow blanketing heaven and earth.

Off in the distance, Earth Illusion King looked up in surprise, shock flickering across his features as he stared at the giant tower. A terrifying aura rippled from within it.

Suspended in mid‑air, the Demon‑Subduing Tower swallowed Heaven Illusion King and his Great Heavenly Evil Demon, leaving no trace of them.

Seeing this, Earth Illusion King’s expression darkened. This sudden turn of events had clearly caught even him off guard.

”What is Lin Langtian doing? This tower doesn’t feel like an ancient divine object…”

”Hmph. Whatever he’s up to, a mere Reincarnation Stage brat could never truly threaten a Demon King.”

Earth Illusion King’s face shifted through several expressions before settling into a cold smirk.

The vitality of a Demon King was immense. It was hard enough for an equal to kill one, let alone a Reincarnation Stage opponent like Lin Langtian.

Just as those thoughts crossed his mind, a vicious demonic wolf claw ripped through the air. At some point, the Wolf Demon King had already appeared before him, his claws swinging with enough power to obliterate any ordinary Reincarnation Stage expert.

”Hmph.”

Earth Illusion King folded his arms before his chest as surging demonic qi condensed into a great shield.

Boom!

The wolf claws slammed into the demonic barrier, unleashing a wave of power that cracked the ground below into gaping chasms tens of thousands of zhang long.

Cracks spread across the shield as the Wolf Demon King staggered back dozens of steps.

”Wolf Demon, you cur—devoting yourself so utterly to a human. Hahaha! Once that brat is killed by Heaven Illusion King, we’ll see how arrogant you are then. A Demon King, following a mere ant. How did the Infernal Prison ever produce such an idiot?”

Earth Illusion King sneered, eyes glinting cruelly.

”Master will not lose.”

The Wolf Demon King’s blood‑red eyes narrowed. His wolf claws clenched tight as he spoke in a voice full of unwavering resolve.

”Oh? Then I’d love to see where that confidence comes from.”

Earth Illusion King cast a brief glance at the Demon‑Subduing Tower and then turned back to the Wolf Demon King with an icy smirk.

He simply refused to believe a Reincarnation Stage Lin Langtian could overturn the heavens.

…

Inside the Demon‑Subduing Tower, vast black Yuan Power howled like a raging storm.

Within it, a massive shadow loomed, and Heaven Illusion King stood upon its head, his eyes darting warily about the interior of the tower.

”Hmph. Brat, even now you insist on playing ghost tricks?” Heaven Illusion King said coldly, glaring up at Lin Langtian hovering in mid‑air.

Arms folded across his chest, Lin Langtian looked down with a faint smile. ”What’s wrong? Getting scared?”

”Ridiculous.” Heaven Illusion King’s lips curled in contempt. ”Such shameless boasting.”

Still, despite the scorn on his face, he could not shake a faint unease.

After fighting Lin Langtian for so long, he knew the latter’s temperament well—this was not someone who wasted effort on useless theatrics.

If Lin Langtian had gone to such trouble to summon this black tower, he must have a plan.

With that in mind, Heaven Illusion King’s expression hardened. Whatever the case, he had to break free of this tower first.

Boom!

At a mental command, the Great Heavenly Evil Demon beneath him inhaled deeply, spewing out a torrent of demonic qi that coalesced into a massive beam tens of thousands of zhang tall. It crashed savagely into the inner walls of the tower.

Lin Langtian answered with a flick of his hand, quickly forming seals.

The tower trembled slightly as a layer of Yuan Power light spread across its inner walls, absorbing and neutralizing the Great Heavenly Evil Demon’s ferocious strike.

Even as he maintained the tower’s defenses, Lin Langtian glanced up at the walls. His eyes slowly grew serious as his hands flashed through another set of seals, afterimages trailing his fingers.

As his hand signs changed, ancient lines emerged upon the tower walls. Gradually, eight grim images took shape.

”What is that?!”

The moment the eight images appeared, a horrifying wave of pressure rolled through the interior of the tower. Heaven Illusion King snapped his head up, eyes widening in alarm as he stared at the walls.

The images were extremely ancient and grotesque, each bearing a monstrous visage with eyes blazing with destructive fury. Just looking at them filled the heart with endless terror.

Under the hateful gazes of the eight figures, even a Demon King like Heaven Illusion King felt a chill of fear creep into his core.

A closer look made his face change dramatically. From each image, he could sense a faint but undeniable demonic might.

”These images… they were all forged from Demon Kings?!”

His pupils shrank. Each portrait still carried a fragment of its former master’s demonic authority, and that oppressive aura was stronger than his own.

In other words, every being used as material here had been more powerful than him in life.

Lin Langtian’s eyes remained fixed on the eight images. They were like eight demon gods crouched upon the walls, their black pupils locked on their prey, ready to unleash annihilation at any moment.

This was a weakened version of the ”Eightfold Pagoda”—but not one inherited from the Pagoda clan. He had created it himself with the Golden Spirit Wheel Mirror as a guide.

Thus, he called it the Eightfold Heavenly Demons.

”Let’s test just how strong the Eightfold Heavenly Demons are… with you.”

Lin Langtian’s gaze turned cold as he looked at Heaven Illusion King. With a thought, countless Yuan‑gathering pills poured from his sleeve like a flood.

There were fully one hundred million pills.

Summoning the Eightfold Heavenly Demons required a massive amount of energy, more than even his current Reincarnation Stage cultivation could provide alone.

After all, the complete Eightfold Pagoda technique ranked among the thirty‑six peerless divine arts of the Great Thousand World.

”Good thing the Kunpeng clan paid me so well during my time as Enforcement Elder, and that I’ve already stepped into the Reincarnation Stage. Otherwise, getting this to work today would have been impossible…”

He sighed inwardly, then drew a deep breath and changed his hand seal. The torrent of Yuan Power from the pills surged out.

At the same moment, the eight demonic images on the walls opened their mouths and swallowed the flood whole.

As the boundless energy poured into them, the eight figures seemed to writhe to life, slowly pulling their upper bodies free from the walls.

They had taken solid form.

Wooo…

A terrifying wave of pressure swept through the Demon‑Subduing Tower, powerful enough to make Heaven Illusion King’s face twitch. The sense of danger he felt from the eight forms grew more intense by the second.

”Damned brat, how devious!”

His face had gone utterly dark. Not only did Lin Langtian possess a Demon Fetus capable of devouring the Great Heavenly Evil Demon’s demonic qi, he also had a fearsome killing move forged from eight Demon Kings.

Was this human cursed by the Otherworldly Demon race itself?

”Out of this tower. Now!”

Heaven Illusion King shouted, leaping upward as he hammered at the air, trying to tear open space and escape.

But Lin Langtian had no intention of letting him go. Having dragged his opponent into the tower, he would not be content without a decisive outcome.

He slammed his hands together in a seal.

Roar!

In response, the eight demonic images let out low, earth‑shaking growls. There was no emotion in their voices—only pure destruction.

Their furious gazes locked onto Heaven Illusion King as they thrust out their hands together, pointing at him.

Swish!

Eight rays of jet‑black light shot from their fingertips. Wherever they passed, space crumbled, and even Yuan Power itself seemed to dissolve into nothing.

The beams did not look particularly dramatic, but Heaven Illusion King’s face drained of color. Terror filled his eyes.

He had sensed true mortal danger.

”Curse you!”

Gone was any trace of his former arrogance.

”Great Ten Thousand Demon Shield!”

”Demon Heaven Bell!”

”Armor of the Demon King!”

The Great Heavenly Evil Demon roared as well, belching out waves of demonic qi that layered themselves into a massive defense overhead.

A dark barrier of roiling demonic qi formed first, etched with countless evil runes—tens of thousands of demons stampeded across its surface, their combined force forming a near‑impenetrable wall.

Beneath the barrier, a huge black bell formed, and below that, demonic armor closed around Heaven Illusion King himself.

Facing those eight beams, he had not hesitated to employ his strongest defenses.

With the Great Ten Thousand Demon Shield in front, the Demon Heaven Bell above, and the Armor of the Demon King upon his body, even a Samsara‑level expert would be hard‑pressed to break through.

Swish!

Just as the grand barrier took shape, the eight black beams struck.

Sss!

To Heaven Illusion King’s horror, there was no thunderous crash—no deafening impact—only silence as the Great Ten Thousand Demon Shield was pierced instantly as if it weren’t there at all.

They utterly crushed it.

Clang!

The Demon Heaven Bell rang out, but the sound was more like a final wail. Cracks raced across its surface in the next heartbeat, and then it shattered.

Sss!

The beams fell upon the black Armor of the Demon King. Black corrosion spread over it like ink in water, reducing it to quivering liquid that dripped away in mere breaths.

Heaven Illusion King sucked in a sharp breath. His heart shook at the sight—his full‑power defenses had crumbled like rotten wood.

Lin Langtian simply watched calmly, unsurprised.

The Eightfold Heavenly Demons were modeled after the Eightfold Pagoda, a truly offensive divine art. Its original version was counted among the thirty‑six peak techniques of the Great Thousand World.

Though his creation fell short of the original, the materials he had used included the remains of a Demon King who had passed two Samsara Tribulations.

Used against a Demon King who had yet to face even his first tribulation, the result could only be overwhelming.

”Go.”

Lin Langtian tapped a finger lightly, voice flat.

Swish!

The eight beams suddenly accelerated. Before Heaven Illusion King even had time to react, they speared into the Great Heavenly Evil Demon beneath him.

Sss!

Where the black light touched, vile liquid spread, eating away at demonic flesh and blood with frightening speed.

Heaven Illusion King felt the Great Heavenly Evil Demon’s agony as if it were his own. Worse, the liquid was creeping through their shared link, trying to consume him as well.

No matter how much demonic qi he poured out to resist it, he could not slow the corrosion at all.

His face turned deathly pale. He could not understand how a battle so firmly under his control had turned so completely against him.

And why could Lin Langtian—an outsider—control these Demon King‑forged idols?

But disbelief changed nothing.

The Great Heavenly Evil Demon was on the verge of collapse, and the black light was spreading toward his own body like a virulent plague.

”Self‑destruct the Great Heavenly Evil Demon!”

Gritting his teeth, he made his choice. It was the only way to sever the contagion before it reached him.

Boom!

The Great Heavenly Evil Demon exploded in a blinding storm of demonic light. The shockwave shook the Demon‑Subduing Tower violently.

Lin Langtian raised a brow and flicked his sleeve. The tower shrank at once into a streak of light and sank into his eye.

Heaven Illusion King flew backward, relief and delight rising in his chest at the sight. The Great Heavenly Evil Demon’s self‑destruction had clearly forced Lin Langtian to pull the tower back.

He did not dare linger. If that tower swallowed him again, he might never get out.

As that thought flashed through his mind, he turned and fled without hesitation.

But just as he retreated, the space in front of him shattered.

His pupils shrank violently.

Swish, swish!

Several black beams pierced the broken air, trailing him like shadows. Before his horrified eyes, they slammed into his body.
