Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

In the Eastern Mystic Region, dynasties reign, but the true power over this land rests with the super sects. These eight super sects rule as absolute authorities, each possessing strength enough to decimate any dynasty in an instant. Like giants, these sects occupy the region’s eight directions, serving as its watchful guardians.

To the northwest lies an expanse of mountains that stretches tens of thousands of miles, cloaked in perpetual mist, known as the Yuan Region. Deep within Yuan Region, nestled amid towering mountains, sits Yuan Gate, one of the Eastern Mystic Region’s super sects. Hundreds of dynasties encircle Yuan Region, treating it as sacred ground and depending on Yuan Gate for their survival.

At the very heart of this vast mountain range, thick clouds part sharply, revealing towering peaks where monumental buildings stretch beyond sight. Beneath these peaks lie bustling cities, brimming with people and activity, resembling a kingdom of its own.

At the center stands a massive, bowl-shaped energy shield, arching from the sky downwards, enclosing the sect within it. Within this protective barrier, ancient halls radiate a majestic aura, while thousands of figures move like ants below, adding to the grand ancient atmosphere that fills the air.

Above this powerful barrier, the sky suddenly distorts as brilliant light coalesces into a colossal formation. Within it, hundreds of figures appear, each of them instantly struck with awe at the sight below.

Standing at the forefront, Lin Langtian felt a moment of shock at the sheer scale of the Yuan Gate. The protective shield seemed to envelop the heavens, while the mist-shrouded mountains and the ancient, looming structures transported him to a different, more primal time.

”Let’s go. Follow me into Yuan Gate. But remember, you are not officially Yuan Gate disciples yet. Don’t roam around carelessly,” Liu Tong’s voice commanded as he looked at the group, unfazed by their astonishment.

With a wave of his sleeve, a golden light shot from Liu Tong’s hand and disappeared into the massive energy shield before them. The shield rippled, its potent energy resonating ominously.

”This shield is likely Yuan Gate’s Grand Formation, incredibly powerful. If activated, even a Life and Death Stage expert would be reduced to dust,” Lin Langtian heard Spirit Aunt’s voice echoing in his mind.

Nodding in agreement, Lin Langtian acknowledged that the most powerful sect of the Eastern Mystic Region having such a formidable barrier was hardly surprising. Moments later, the shield gradually opened, forming an entranceway, and Liu Tong led the group through it and into the heart of Yuan Gate.

As they stepped inside, Lin Langtian and the others were hit by a wave of immensely concentrated energy.

”The spiritual energy here is astounding!” Lin Langtian murmured to himself, sensing how the ambient energy within the shield was likely ten times greater than what existed in the outside world. It was clear that Yuan Gate employed special means to pull vast amounts of energy from the surrounding tens of thousands of miles to feed its disciples’ cultivation needs—a testament to its remarkable resources.

Just as the group began to absorb the impact of the sect’s potent spiritual energy, a streak of rainbow-colored lights shot toward them from afar. These lights resolved into figures dressed in dark gold robes, who scanned the newcomers with a sharp gaze.

The figures, patrol disciples of Yuan Gate, had come to investigate, but their stern expressions relaxed upon recognizing Liu Tong.

”Greetings, Deacon Liu Tong,” they said respectfully, bowing in unison.

”These are new disciples selected from the Hundred Dynasties Battle,” Liu Tong explained briefly.

The patrol disciples nodded, looking over Lin Langtian and the other newcomers with critical eyes. Some of the new disciples avoided eye contact, feeling intimidated by the patrol members’ powerful auras.

”Even their patrol disciples have significant strength,” Lin Langtian noted, sensing that each of these figures was at least at the Six Yuan Nirvana Stage. Furthermore, their presence and skill were far stronger than an average cultivator of this level, which likely explained the oppressive aura they radiated.

The patrol disciples spent a moment scrutinizing the group before their gazes lingered on Lin Langtian and several others, recognizing the extraordinary potential in some of them.

”Deacon Liu, please bring the newcomers to the Selection Pavilion. The division deputies are already waiting,” one of the patrol disciples said respectfully.

Liu Tong nodded. ”Understood. You may go now.”

With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the patrol disciples and led the group toward a massive mountain wreathed in mist.

”The Eight Divisions of Yuan Gate…” Lin Langtian thought to himself. Although he didn’t know Yuan Gate’s inner workings as well as he did the Dao Sect’s, he’d heard of the renowned ”Three Kings” and the ”Eight Spirit Generals.”

The ”Three Kings” were personally trained by Yuan Gate’s three chief elders as their successors, while the Eight Spirit Generals were likely the most powerful disciples of the Eight Divisions.

According to Spirit Aunt, ”Yuan Gate’s disciples are divided across eight divisions: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Heaven, Earth, and Life. Each is equally powerful.”

”Hmm... Which division would suit me best?” Lin Langtian murmured, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

After a moment of consideration, Spirit Aunt’s calm voice answered him.

”The Fire Division.”
