Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

When Lin Dong declared his intent to challenge Lin Langtian at the upcoming clan assembly, laughter and mockery spread among the main family’s talents, while Lin Zhentian and others could only shake their heads in quiet resignation. Strangely, the two most composed people in the room were the challengers themselves: Lin Langtian and Lin Dong.

After a brief silence, Lin Zhentian finally spoke up. ”Young Master Langtian, would it be possible to bring Dong’er along with you on this trip to the ancient tomb?”

Hearing this, Lin Langtian raised an eyebrow, then nodded, saying, ”That’s fine.”

To him, any grudge he might have held against Lin Dong was a thing of the past, and allowing him to come along posed no issue. Besides, even if he hadn’t approved, Lin Dong would likely find his way into the tomb anyway.

”Thank you, Young Master Langtian.” Lin Zhentian’s face lit up with relief.

”Wait!” Just as Lin Zhentian finished thanking him, a voice rang out.

”Brother Langtian,” Lin Chen protested, ”this trip to the ancient tomb is highly important. Bringing along just anyone could be risky if they turn out to be a burden.”

”Rest assured, Lin Dong has more than enough strength to avoid holding anyone back,” Lin Zhentian quickly assured him with a smile.

”Hm, no offense, Elder Lin Zhentian, but words alone don’t mean much,” Lin Chen replied, tilting his head and looking at Lin Dong with a smirk. ”If he’s looking to tag along, he should at least prove himself capable first. Don’t you think?”

At this point, everyone understood that Lin Chen was clearly challenging Lin Dong. The four young talents from the main family, recently defeated by Lin Dong, wore mocking expressions, while Lin Zhentian and his kin looked uneasy.

”What do you have in mind?” Lin Dong asked calmly.

”Fight me,” Lin Chen said coolly. ”If you can last ten moves, you can come along.”

”If I defeat you, we won’t speak of this again!” Lin Dong declared, glancing at Lin Langtian as he spoke. For some reason, Langtian’s calm expression made him feel almost as if Langtian already had him figured out. So, even if he wasn’t yet strong enough to defeat Langtian, Lin Dong still wanted to show his own strength.

Without waiting for a response, Lin Dong headed for the courtyard outside. Lin Chen glanced at Langtian, gave him a respectful bow, and followed, exuding confidence.

”It’s just a friendly spar between youngsters. Let’s go watch for some entertainment,” Lin Zhentian said with a chuckle, expressing faith in Lin Dong.

Langtian nodded, intrigued to see how Lin Dong’s strength might have changed in light of recent events. As they all gathered in the courtyard, the open area quickly filled up with spectators. Word had spread, and soon even more members of the Lin family had come to watch.

”This is just a friendly match, so no serious injuries. I will not hesitate to punish anyone who breaks this rule,” Tao Lao, the designated referee, announced solemnly as he stepped forward.

Both fighters nodded, accepting his authority. Langtian watched them closely, already well aware that Lin Chen was at the early mastery of the Yuan Dan stage. If Lin Dong could hold his ground, it would prove he was indeed advancing as he had in the original timeline.

As the match began, three icy swords and a flaming blade suddenly shot out from Lin Dong’s Qiankun Bag, spinning protectively around him. The sharp edges sliced through the air with a faint hiss.

”A talisman master?” Lin Ke’er, watching with wide blue eyes, looked on with interest.

Langtian wasn’t surprised. Practicing both Yuan energy and spiritual power wasn’t unique to him alone.

With a flick of his fingers, Lin Dong sent the swords hurtling toward Lin Chen. Lin Chen remained calm, unleashing a surge of Yuan energy that instantly flowed through him. His fair hands began to shine with a crystal-like gleam as pure Yuan energy condensed in his palms. In one swift motion, he stepped forward, meeting the four flying swords head-on with his bare hands.

The clash of swords against fists created a series of metallic clangs, with sparks flying as Lin Chen successfully deflected each blade.

”He’s using the Jade Shattering Hand! Way to go, Brother Lin Chen!” cheered Lin Feng and the others, who were still sore from their previous defeat by Lin Dong.

”Who do you think will win, Brother Langtian—Lin Chen or Lin Dong?” Lin Ke’er asked curiously.

”We’ll soon find out,” Langtian said, smiling. ”But as I mentioned, don’t underestimate those from the branch family…”

Ke’er’s eyes widened with surprise, sensing that Langtian was hinting that Lin Chen might not win.

Meanwhile, Lin Dong began channeling his Yuan energy into a series of complex hand seals. With each shift of his hands, a concentrated glow began to pulse between his palms, as his Yuan Dan stage early mastery level was fully revealed.

Mystic Gate Seal, Fourth Form!

Yuan energy intensified as the hand seals completed, forming a head-sized light seal. Radiating power, the seal sent waves of energy rippling outward, visibly distorting the air.

Seeing this, Lin Chen switched from his open-palm stance to a claw technique, readying his Jade Shattering Claw. His hands took on a frighteningly sharp jade-like sheen that emitted a bone-chilling aura.

The two forces were massive and equally terrifying, captivating all who watched.

As the light seal met Lin Chen’s claws, the seal seemed to weaken. Within moments, it shattered, and Lin Chen’s face broke into a victorious smile as the remnants of the seal dissolved.

Lin Feng and the others cheered, but Langtian merely shook his head. ”That seal was just a decoy. The real attack is hidden within it. Don’t forget—Lin Dong is also a talisman master.”

As Langtian’s words echoed, the seal that Lin Chen had shattered exploded into a new formation. From the debris emerged a smaller, yet incredibly concentrated, spiritual energy drill. In a flash, the drill shot straight toward Lin Chen, breaking through his defensive energy layer and sending him stumbling backward.

Only then did everyone realize the true attack was hidden within the initial seal, and gasps rippled through the crowd as Lin Chen slammed into a stone pillar, the spiritual drill still zooming toward him.

”I concede!” Lin Chen shouted urgently.

With that, the match came to an abrupt end.
