Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

At dawn the next morning, as Lin City came to life, Lin Ke’er and the others were already fully prepared in the front courtyard of the Lin Clan. When Lin Langtian arrived, the group of five stood ready and waiting.

”Brother Langtian, you’re here! We’re all set and waiting on your order to depart,” Lin Ke’er said with a smile, her blue eyes bright as she looked at the approaching young man. Beside her, Lin Chen and the others also looked eagerly at Lin Langtian, clearly excited about their trip to the capital—the royal city of the Great Yan Empire. Even though they were from the Lin Clan, the journey held significant allure.

Lin Langtian looked at the five members of the younger generation, sighing inwardly, but he returned their enthusiasm with a smile. ”Alright, since you’re all ready, let’s set off.”

”Brother Langtian, here are the black-scaled horses the clan prepared for us. With them, we should be able to reach the capital in under ten days,” Lin Chen said, handing over the reins of a remarkable black-scaled horse.

Lin Langtian accepted the reins and patted the horse’s head. Sensing its new owner’s powerful aura, the initially untamed creature calmed down and obeyed. The black-scaled horses were known for their strength and distinctive black scales, resembling fish scales, making them excellent for long journeys as they could cover thousands of miles in a day. While Lin Langtian, as a Form Realm master, could transform his energy to take flight, the energy cost would be too great, especially with five companions. The black-scaled horse was an ideal alternative.

”Since everything is ready, let’s be off,” Lin Langtian said as he mounted his horse and led the way out of Lin City.

”Yes, Brother Langtian!” The others followed suit, mounting their horses and quickly catching up.

The imperial capital was the Great Yan Empire’s grandest city, embodying the power and authority of the royal family, who were openly regarded as the rulers of the empire. The capital, situated east of Lin City, was an awe-inspiring place. Though Lin City was said to rival it in scale, there was still no comparison. For all the influence the Lin Clan had, they respected the imperial family’s authority, understanding that a wise clan was one that respected power and avoided open conflict.

As the Great Yan Empire’s rulers, the imperial family, along with the Lin Clan, the other three Great Clans, and other significant sects and factions, were preparing a grand reception for Ling Qingzhu, the disciple of a powerful sect. She, after all, represented the esteemed status of her sect, and for the empire, her visit was akin to a royal dignitary visiting a small village.

Although it was only a few days’ journey to the capital, the group turned it into a leisurely excursion, sightseeing and enjoying the journey. By the time they finally reached the capital, more than half a month had passed. Fortunately, the official reception for Ling Qingzhu was scheduled for a month later, so they arrived with plenty of time to spare.

The towering walls of the imperial city loomed on the plains, casting a majestic and somewhat daunting aura in the evening twilight. The city wall was vast and tall, stretching out to the horizon, a testament to the size and strength of the capital.

As they neared the gates, the group dismounted and walked, leading their horses. Riding within the capital was strictly prohibited by royal decree, a rule that even the Lin Clan observed, as violating it would be an insult to the royal family.

Even at the outskirts of the capital, the streets were bustling, even more so than in Lin City.

”No wonder it’s the capital; it’s truly magnificent,” Lin Ke’er said in awe as she gazed at the towering city.

Lin Langtian chuckled. ”Well, it’s the royal territory, after all. The capital is naturally meant to show the splendor of the royal family.”

With that, he led the group toward the gate at a steady pace, Lin Ke’er and the others following closely. The gates were wide but crowded with people entering the city. Lin Chen took out a gold medallion engraved with the Lin family name, and upon seeing it, the guards immediately made way with respectful expressions.

They knew better than to provoke members of one of the empire’s four Great Clans. Thanks to this, Lin Langtian and his group entered the capital smoothly.

The capital’s grandeur struck Lin Langtian as soon as they stepped inside. The city was like a small nation, filled with endless structures extending as far as the eye could see. The royal family had poured their legacy and resources into making the capital a symbol of their power.

Amid the bustling streets, Lin Langtian quickly regained his composure, and they made their way through the crowds. The Lin Clan, being one of the Great Clans, naturally had its own residence within the capital. After weaving through a few side streets, they arrived at the imposing gate of the Lin family residence. Lin Langtian signaled for Lin Chen to knock on the door.

Moments later, a middle-aged man in yellow robes answered, irritation momentarily flickering on his face until he recognized Lin Langtian. Immediately, he broke into a polite smile.

”So it’s the Elder of Law! We received word of your visit days ago, and it’s a pleasure to finally welcome you.”

Lin Langtian nodded. After days of travel, his first priority was to rest before gathering information on Ling Qingzhu and the royal auction.

Meanwhile, far from the capital in Yan City, within the Tian Du Province...

In Qingyang Town, outside the Lin Family estate, an elderly man in gray robes looked at the bustling Lin family members with a knowing smile.

”Old friend, good fortune is coming to your Lin family of Qingyang Town...”
