Chapter 500: Chapter 226: Beyond Visual Range Strike! (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

Rein rode his great black horse along the winding road, with quite a few items hanging on both sides of the steed.

Besides a conspicuous great bow, there were two identical, animal skin wrapped, long, bar-shaped items on the other side. Judging by their length and the handles that were showing, they seemed to be some sort of short bladed weapon.

These two were, in fact, the blood-colored daggers from that shadow assassin. Due to the striking blood-colored glow of the daggers, Rein had specifically wrapped them up in animal skins.

As for why he didn’t carry the bow and daggers on his person, it was because Rein already had the pig-head hammer and Glimmering Greatsword on his back. If he were to carry a bow and tuck daggers at his waist as well, it would be like a peacock spreading its feathers!

It truly would have been quite unsightly.

Especially the dagger, what kind of upstanding Knight would fight with a dagger?

Even if Knights used daggers as a secondary weapon, it was extremely rare.

However, Rein was deeply impressed by the special effects of the shadow assassin’s blood-colored daggers. Such excellent weaponry, he naturally couldn’t bear to leave them unused.

That’s also why he had proposed to the Imperial Southern Sea Fleet to obtain a set of Extraordinary Battle Technique for daggers if witchcraft of the metal variety wasn’t available.

Suddenly, several high-pitched eagle cries came from above Rein’s head!

It turned out that, above him at a height of tens of meters, a raptor the size of a seagull, with blue and purple mingled feathers, was stretching its wings, excitedly flipping and soaring.

This was Rein’s young Blood Feathered Horned Eagle. During this time, under the care of Vinica, the Wizard Apprentice specializing in avian modification, the young bird had quickly grown robust.

At this moment, the original fluffy light yellow down on its body had gradually been replaced by the blue and purple feathers unique to an adult Blood Feathered Horned Eagle.

Of course, this process still had to continue for quite a long time.

According to Vinica, the larger the size of the raptor, the longer and sturdier the feathers on its body would be, and compared to smaller birds, it would take much more time to molt.

Walking in the wilderness of Wild Wolf Hills, Rein looked up at the young bird soaring freely through the sky, feeling envious, he couldn’t help but use the Beast Tamer’s core ‘Eyes of the Beast’.

Since Rein’s spiritual power had greatly increased compared to before, this time when he activated his skill, although the distance from the young Blood Feathered Horned Eagle was tens of meters, he was still able to cast it successfully with ease.

The instant the skill was activated, Rein felt as though he were a radar station, with his spiritual power radiating like radar waves in all directions. Almost in an instant, the location of the young Blood Feathered Horned Eagle was locked into Rein’s mind.

With a thought, Rein’s vision instantly switched!

He could see the azure sky and the vast, limitless earth wherever he looked. If he lowered his gaze slightly, he would see the snow-capped hills stretching rolling before him.

The snow atop the hills was still quite deep, while at the bottom, in the valleys, there had already begun to appear several bright patches of green, and the snow had melted into water, flowing gently to form small streams.

Stretching his gaze into the distance, he saw a meandering road cut through the middle of the hills toward the faraway lands, and the walls of Meister City, appearing like a gray line, were boldly in sight.

Staring into the distance, he could even make out some dim outlines of buildings within the County Town.

Rein knew that this was due to the superb eyesight of the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle. At that moment, he had just left Fishing Port Town less than half an hour ago, and still had half a day’s journey to the County Town.

Orienting the young bird to turn back, looking down the path he had come, he could see the circularly arranged buildings of Fishing Port Town not far away.

Because it wasn’t too far, Rein could even clearly see the faces of the residents walking the streets of Fishing Port Town.

And looking further afield, an endless expanse of azure sea came into view, dotted with dozens of islands, large and small, scattered about in blue and green.

“Indeed, having a raptor as a pet, setting aside the rest, just this bird’s-eye view from the sky is truly amazing!”

“It’s like controlling an attack drone from my previous life.”

“Eh, what’s this?”

When Rein turned the young Blood Feathered Horned Eagle once again towards the direction of the County Town, he noticed that not far below the young bird, a battle was unfolding.

He hadn’t noticed it at first due to the darkness beneath the nearby light.

Taking a closer look with the young bird’s extraordinary vision, he saw, several kilometers ahead of his current position on the road, several caravans carrying goods were being ambushed by bandits.

About a dozen guards were engaged in a fierce battle with the bandits.

Among the bandits, one figure in a black robe immediately caught Rein’s attention; in his hands, black flames emerged from time to time.

“This is a Black Flame Sorcerer!”

What’s more critical, Rein saw that the embattled caravan bore the distinct crest of the Crowley family, and among the guards, a short figure was an old acquaintance, the former captain of the Night Watchman from Flashgold Town, Matteo.

With the Black Flame Sorcerer standing at the rear of the bandits and occasionally throwing out a black flame fireball, once it hit, a guard would be deprived of their combat strength, so at that point, the caravan’s guards were in dire peril.

He calculated the distance; the opposition was on the winding roads of the Wild Wolf Hills, and running there directly to help was likely too late.

If he wanted to rescue them in time, it seemed his only option was through archery.

Moreover, a direct shot was obviously impossible, as it would require passing through two sets of undulating woods to hit the enemy.
