Chapter 388: Chapter 210: A New Order

[Major news, Dongwu City is starting to reform its laws, preparing to open a new order!]

The day after the Baiyi entered the Dark Night World, a headline on the Internet suddenly turned the war-filled network upside down.

It also attracted the attention of most families and capital.

Dongwu City, already in the spotlight, with Baiyi leading the pioneering efforts in Dawn Technology.

Furthermore, Dongwu City holds three top-tier potentials.

All this makes news from Dongwu City very sensitive.

And this headline was rapidly forwarded and discussed in a short amount of time.

After all, from a few months ago, Dongwu City began building houses for civilians, and even high-rises, entertainment zones, and a large number of schools, which already invited speculation.

Now, the hearts of some people, which had been holding onto suspense, have finally found relief.

With the update of this account, the Internet faced unprecedented pressure.

[Hello friends, I am an Alchemist in Dongwu City. By now, Dongwu City has enacted and abolished many laws. As an Alchemist interested in history, I have organized and summarized them a little.

More than three hundred years ago, Lou Shaming led a sub-border city to independence, only to fail in a short time. He wished to build a world without any privileges, meaning a time when even Golden Transcendents and ordinary people would be equal.

Fortunately, the current Dongwu City is not that utopian. Instead of removing the privileges of Transcendents, it has weakened them and added some rights for ordinary people.

For example, in Dongwu City, ordinary people of any age can enter schools to study for a small amount of Copper Coins, and a new cultivation system called [Arcane Magic] is being popularized.

Perhaps you do not understand this system. Those with access to Scholar’s Mansion could take a look. 90% of scholars, in just a few short months, have become Transcendents thanks to Arcane Magic.

This is a system with an extremely low threshold and does not pursue profession, talent, or age. It is said to originate from the distant Star Federation, but we shall not delve into that for now.

Other than the educational laws, I have summarized the already promulgated laws in Dongwu City.

1. Any force or capital employing civilians in Dongwu City must not have civilians work more than eight hours.

2. All residents of Dongwu City must have a Dongwu City residence permit to reside permanently; otherwise, they will be deported back to their original city within a certain period.

3. The Dongwu City residence permit requires an application, and only those approved by Dongwu City from other places can migrate.

4. The minimum annual income for Dongwu City residents is 1 Gold Coin.

5. Residents of Dongwu City can apply for a business license. Once approved, a newly established institution [City Management] will assist and protect residents in establishing shops.

6. Robbery and fighting are prohibited in Dongwu City. Minor offenses incur fines, while severe offenses result in 3-30 years of imprisonment or mining work.

7. Expansion of the food base has begun, cultivating more diverse and cheaper vegetables.

8. Support for animal husbandry, establishing enterprises that produce a large amount of ordinary meat, which can secure some positions in Dongwu City, with major campuses purchasing these meats in bulk.

9.....

18. Alchemy Technology has become civilian-oriented, and Dongwu City will launch cell phones that can be purchased for a single-digit Silver Coin. Furthermore, valuable but not transcendent technology will be launched to improve Dongwu City.

In conclusion: In Dongwu City, the privileges of the transcendent have sharply decreased, while the human rights of the civilians have greatly expanded.

[Brothers, I must leave, carrying my luggage on a long journey, otherwise, employing those civilians in my current Alchemy Workshop would increase the cost by over 30 times, and I am truly strapped for cash. Farewell, Dongwu City, I have deleted my post].

Follow-up post: Damn? I went viral? Brothers, don’t worry, I will continue to report on Dongwu City’s inexplicable actions! Please everyone, click to follow.

Also, the residence permits apply only to ordinary people, while Transcendents do not need permits.]

This type of article swept across the entire network instantly, even more ridiculously than the last time Dongwu City set up a gambling game.

Because it covers the entire Federation’s network, even with current charges, it cannot stop the growing number of people involved.

After all, a monthly fee of one Silver Coin for the Internet is not much for Transcendents; only some transactions and some paid knowledge are expensive.

There are many voices on the Internet, but most resonate with what the Old City Lord said: why should their rights be weakened?

It’s like someone who spent several years struggling with multiple failures finally got a driver’s license, only for Dongwu City to announce the next day that they were canceling driving tests, allowing everyone to drive without a license.

This imbalance has led many to criticize Dongwu City.

Of course, people are diverse; where there is opposition, there is support, regardless of the matter.

But the support group barely occupies even 1% of the network, and most are weak Transcendents, but their voices are quickly drowned out, with public opinion overwhelmingly one-sided, including the Wucheng Army.

Complaints are endless, yet very few actually leave.

In the outside world, the monthly salary for a Bronze Middle-Rank Warrior typically ranges from 100 to 150 Gold Coins, but even the lowest-paid Wu City Army receives a thousand Gold Coins a month.

It’s like a job with an annual salary of millions; even if the boss yells, few would quit outright.

While many other officials have left, as Dongwu City’s benefits continue to improve, these positions are swiftly filled, with only the Inner City District being somewhat chaotic.

However, under the patrol of those three-meter-tall Light Whisper Legion members, no major disturbances have occurred.
