Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1747: Chapter 1747: Extortion Made Easy

”Stop, stop, I’m the son of the Heavenly Sun Temple’s Main Priest, if you dare hit me you’re all dead...” Long Wudang’s shrill shout burst out from the crowd.

Before he could finish, Mu Han Yan and Ling Baobao, plus that little piglet, all jumped up at the same time. Two people and one beast’s fists and feet, plus Ling Baobao’s turtle shell, came raining down on Long Wudang’s head like a torrential downpour.

Originally, Long Wudang was mixed in with that pack of lackeys, rolling and crawling, wailing like ghosts and howling like wolves. Every one of them had bruised noses and swollen faces like pig heads, Mu Han Yan was already having trouble telling them apart. Since he’d opened his mouth and exposed his position, he had no one to blame when Lady Mu’s hands showed no mercy.

”Ugh...” Long Wudang had just stuck his head out when he let out another miserable scream and flattened himself back onto the ground, his body echoing with a series of muffled thuds: bang bang bang bang.

Seeing this, who else would dare make a sound?

”Stop beating me, stop, ow... don’t hit the face...” Long Wudang couldn’t act arrogant anymore, his voice breaking into sobs as he begged.

”Shh, don’t talk, focus on getting beaten.” Ling Baobao put a finger to his lips and said with a look of intense concentration.

Mu Han Yan staggered and almost fell over.

Seeing the excitement in Ling Baobao’s eyes, Mu Han Yan realized for the first time that this guy was actually that violent. Still, this Long Wudang really had no backbone. How long had he been getting hit before he couldn’t take it anymore? She despised this kind of spoiled rich kid—really can’t take a beating at all! Begging for mercy already, that fast.

Mu Han Yan thought Ling Baobao was violent, but in other people’s eyes, she wasn’t any better.

”Spare me, I’m begging you, don’t hit me anymore, spare me.” Long Wudang finally couldn’t endure the pain, hugging his head as he lay on the ground, snot and blood and tears all over as he begged.

”Everyone stop.” Mu Han Yan said to Ling Baobao and the Little Auspicious Beast.

By the look of it, it was about enough; if they kept going someone might actually die. Long Wudang was the son of the Heavenly Sun Temple’s Main Priest—if they beat him to death there’d be no way to explain it.

Though all of them still felt it was a bit unsatisfying, Ling Baobao and the Little Auspicious Beast still stopped.

”Thank you, sir, thank you, sir.” Long Wudang was truly scared, wiping his bloody nose as he backed away.

That bunch of lackeys didn’t look any better than him, each of them trembling with fear as they followed Long Wudang retreating toward the city gates.

”Wait. You beat up people from Huayu Temple and think you can just walk away?” Mu Han Yan said coldly.

”Y-yes, yes, it was our fault before, we apologize, we apologize.” Long Wudang forced out a smile uglier than crying, bowing repeatedly to apologize to An Xiaxin and the others. Only after suffering under Mu Han Yan and her crew’s hands did he realize just how vicious they were when they struck.

”You think just saying ’sorry’ is enough?” Mu Han Yan had a faint smile on her face, but her eyes carried a chill.

Beside her, Ling Baobao was tapping the turtle shell every now and then, making soft thumping sounds. That sound felt like it was pounding right on Long Wudang’s heart, making his little heart jitter up and down.

The little piglet with terrifying violence was even more direct, waving its tiny paws, practically writing the word ”threat” on its forehead.

”I’ll pay, I’ll pay.” Enlightened by terror, Long Wudang hurriedly dug out all kinds of items in big handfuls: there were gold and silver needles, Medicinal Herbs, Elixirs, Meteorite Gold, and all sorts of miscellaneous items that quickly piled into a big heap in front of him.

Worthy of being the Main Priest’s son—he definitely had a Storage Space on him, otherwise there’s no way he could carry so much stuff.

Mu Han Yan didn’t care much about the gold and silver needles, but the Elixirs and Meteorite Gold caught her attention. Just from the green gleam that involuntarily flashed in Sikong Qinglan and the others’ eyes, she could guess that the quality of those Elixirs and Meteorite Gold was pretty good.

What surprised Mu Han Yan most was that mixed in there was a whole pile of bottles and jars. At first she thought they held Elixirs; after a closer look, they turned out to be things like fragrant powders and blush. Could this guy really have a Long Yang bent? Mu Han Yan took out a handkerchief to wipe her hands over and over, already pondering that she should change her shoes later.

”That’s all.” Pulling out the last porcelain bottle, Long Wudang looked pitifully at Mu Han Yan.

”That’s it?” Ling Baobao craned his neck for a look and said in dissatisfaction, then started knocking on the turtle shell again. The repeated thumps sent Long Wudang’s heart jumping all over again.

In truth, Long Wudang had already taken out quite a lot, but it still couldn’t satisfy Ling Baobao’s appetite. After all that effort to get into a fight, ending up with only this much benefit—wouldn’t that make it all a waste?

Long Wudang’s gaze swept toward the lackeys behind him, clearly carrying a hint of threat. They caught on right away and hurriedly started rummaging through their own belongings.

Their family fortunes definitely couldn’t compare to Long Wudang’s, and they didn’t have Storage Spaces, but they had numbers on their side. In no time, another random pile was stacked up.

”Sir, that’s really all we’ve got.” Long Wudang watched Mu Han Yan’s expression and spoke cautiously.

”Go.” Mu Han Yan waved her hand. It was obvious these guys truly had no more oil left to squeeze.

”Thank you, sir, thank you, sir.” Long Wudang felt like he’d been granted amnesty, leading his gaggle of lackeys to flee Huayu City like a pack of stray dogs.

Driving the carriage, they galloped for over ten miles before Long Wudang and the others finally let out a long breath.

”Young master, are your injuries okay?” That stocky, short lackey hurried over, face full of concern. He’d originally wanted to take out some wound medicine, but when he reached for it he remembered it had been extorted, and he could only draw his hand back in frustration.

”Get lost.” For the first time in his life, Long Wudang had been bullied like this—bloody nose, tears streaming, begging for mercy—and even he felt humiliated. He was already stewing, and seeing his lackey touch the sore spot, he snapped irritably. When he opened his mouth, it tugged at his injuries and sent another wave of grimacing pain across his face.

”That bitch, I will never let her off easy.” Long Wudang cupped his cheek, spat out a bloodied tooth, and said through gritted teeth. Then he asked, ”Right, what’s that bitch’s name?”

He had actually wanted to ask her name back then, but on second thought he’d given up on the idea. What if she thought he was planning revenge and beat him up again?

Of course, that was exactly what he was planning—this grudge definitely had to be repaid. But a smart man doesn’t suffer the loss before his eyes; there was no need to tip his hand early and get another brutal thrashing.

That gang of lackeys glanced at each other and all shook their heads.

At the start, they hadn’t taken Mu Han Yan seriously, so none of them had bothered to care who she was or what her name was. By the time they realized things had gone south, they no longer had a chance to ask—and no courage to ask either.

”Bunch of idiots!” Long Wudang was holding in a stomach full of anger with nowhere to vent. Seeing them stand there like wooden blocks, he cursed them out.

Of course none of them dared talk back, but in their hearts they all thought the same thing: You’re not stupid? You still got worked over till you were bawling and begging on your knees.
