Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1297: Chapter 1297: Few in This World Are as Shameless as This

The soldiers under his command were originally cavalry, trained for combat and annihilation on horseback, which was their forte.

”Wait, how about we hold down the city gate and defend for a while, then decide depending on the situation,” said Han Yan.

She had long noticed that Dingbian City had sturdy walls, its defenses far superior to Hanshan Town, more than several times so, such that even a Fierce Stone Demon could not easily break through. However, precisely because of this reason, it was even more difficult to lower the city gate. Earlier, the Exotic Beasts arrived too suddenly, leaving the City Guard with no chance to lower the gate, and then they were embroiled in battle, losing any opportunity.

Though she had never experienced the battlefield slaughter, Han Yan always felt that this attack from the Exotic Beasts on the city was peculiar; going out to battle was not the best choice.

”The young lady is right; for tens of thousands of years, Exotic Beasts have never launched a long-distance assault on Dingbian City. Today’s situation is too strange, let’s lower the city gate and see what’s happening first,” a mature and prudent City Guard commander concurred.

”What’s there to see with these fragile Exotic Beasts, just kill them!” If it were that commander advising, perhaps Wu Ziyue would hesitate a bit, but seeing Han Yan speak, he decided it wasn’t worth minding.

”Sir, General Zhou’s statement is entirely true. This attack from the Exotic Beasts on the city is too peculiar, how about we first...” Seeing Wu Ziyue being obstinate, other City Guard commanders also voiced their dissuasion.

”Shut up, am I the City Lord or are you? Whoever delays the battle by squabbling will be executed!” Wu Ziyue shouted sternly.

The commanders’ expressions changed, none daring to speak further.

Soon after, his soldiers prepared the warhorses, Wu Ziyue gave the order, hundreds of personal soldiers mounted their horses, following him to slaughter the Exotic Beasts outside the city.

”This idiot, being the City Lord, daring to risk his own life, if anything happens, isn’t he afraid that it would harm all the city’s people?” Zhu Xiuqing sneered, seemingly forgetting that his actions in Hanshan Town were almost identical to Wu Ziyue’s.

Han Yan glanced at him; a person as thick-skinned as Xiao Ming was truly rare in this world.

Mounted on the warhorse, Wu Ziyue’s personal soldiers were even more formidable, charging left and right amidst those weak Exotic Beasts, like ravenous wolves intruding a flock of sheep, each swing of the long sword brought about a beautiful spray of blood.

”Kill, kill them all, let’s see if they dare approach Dingbian City again!” Wu Ziyue shouted wildly.

Seeing the Exotic Beasts outside the city truly as weak as Wu Ziyue said, the City Guard below finally felt relieved.

The city’s civilians climbed onto the city walls, cheering Wu Ziyue and others. After all, the people of Shangyue are known for their fierce bravery, and their courage was indeed not lacking.

But Han Yan frowned, it seemed, it was a bit too easy.

”Roar!” Suddenly, a beast’s roar shook the heavens and the earth, an overwhelming pressure descended from the sky.

In that instant, it seemed as if the entire world had fallen into a standstill.

The horses of several City Guard commanders let out long, mournful cries, collapsing in fear, while some civilians with weaker cultivation rolled off the city walls directly.

Han Yan’s expression changed abruptly: Divine Beast pressure, it was indeed the pressure of a Divine Beast!

This kind of pressure was unmistakably familiar to Han Yan, it resembled the pressure from Taowu and Qiongqi so much, she could ascertain that this pressure also came from some kind of Divine Beast.

On the battlefield, the Black-armored Guards’ expressions changed dramatically as well, the Red Charcoal Cloud Smoke Beasts they rode were exceedingly magnificent, picked through arduous selection across the military, battle-tested far beyond the City Guard’s horses, yet now they trembled fearfully, unwilling to move an inch, like a herd of lambs awaiting slaughter.

And they themselves, under that overwhelming pressure, faced difficulties breathing, even the sword in their hands felt as heavy as a thousand weights, fear they had never felt before rose in their hearts. To know, these soldiers were elite Iron-blooded Warriors who crawled from heaps of corpses, even they couldn’t believe there was such fear hidden within.

Again, a beast’s roar, an Exotic Beast appeared in view.

This Exotic Beast greatly resembled the Earthly Ferocious Bear in its form, but it was much larger, towering three zhang tall, shrouded in a blurred halo, making its true appearance unrecognizable.

”Chaos!” Han Yan’s heart sank.

Chaos, another of the legendary Four Great Fierce Beasts, notorious for bullying the weak and fearing the strong, indifferent to right or wrong. Although renowned for bullying, few people or Divine Beasts in the world could truly bully it; its power was absolutely not below the other Three Great Fierce Beasts, and its ferocity was arguably superior. In Han Yan’s memories, there were even tales of entire city populations being slaughtered by it.

”Chaos... Chaos!” around her came cries filled with terror, evidently, the City Guard soldiers and civilians recognized the origin of this fierce beast.

The Four Great Fierce Beasts were notoriously fierce, even after disappearing from the Holy Court Continent for hundreds of thousands of years, tales and illustrations of them continue to be widely circulated, making them hard to mistake.

”Go, my Lord, quickly go!” Those Black-armored Guards were no exception, shouting to Wu Ziyue with fear in their eyes.

Though Wu Ziyue’s ways were many a time unrighteous in Dingbian City, soldiers adhere strictly to orders, and these Black-armored Guards were indeed loyal to him.

”Oh, go, go.” Wu Ziyue, already pale with fright, numbly urged his mount, hitting it helplessly, but under Chaos’s Divine Beast pressure, the mount wouldn’t budge.

Across from them, Chaos let out a low roar, moving forward like pillars of stone, charging towards Dingbian City, with the Black-armored Guards directly in front of the city gate facing the brunt.

Seeing their mounts frightened stiff, losing all fighting capability, the Black-armored Guards could only grit their teeth, dismounting to the ground, striving to overcome fear, raising their long swords.

”Kill!” Amid the roars, hundreds of Black-armored Guards formed a black iron torrent, sweeping towards the Chaos beast opposite.

Earlier, it was by this unstoppable and fearsome attack method that they easily repelled the Burning Sky Blue Flame Bull’s charge, slaying them one by one.

Unfortunately, this time they faced not the Burning Sky Blue Flame Bull, but Chaos, one of the legendary Four Great Fierce Beasts.

”Boom!” A muffled crash, the earth shook and mountains trembled. Like steel hitting rock, or a torrent colliding with a wave.

A black shadow flew like shattered stone, like rolling waves.

In just one impact, dozens of Black-armored Guards soared into the sky.

Black battle armor, strong enough to withstand even the Burning Sky Blue Flame Bull’s attack, was now shattered, utterly broken after only one hit, and those Black-armored Guards were either dead on the spot or spitting large clots of blood, showing clearly that their internal organs were pulverized and severely injured.
