Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1270: Chapter 1270: Perhaps, Just a Misunderstanding?

”The Mu Family has helped our Han Family so much, yet if you refuse even this small token of gratitude, do you look down on me, Han Jinglun?” Indeed, the Han Family are all of the same character; seeing Han Yan reluctant to accept the Jade Pendant, Han Jinglun immediately turned hostile, and steadfastly refused to take it back.

”Elder Han, I recall you mentioning that the treasure hidden within this jade pendant was left by the Han ancestors for future revival. How can I accept it?” Seeing his firm stance, Han Yan simply spoke frankly.

”Ha, revival? The Tianji Family once flourished, but in the end, were they not exterminated? Even if revival were possible, to what end?” Han Jinglun sighed and said.

Hearing his words, Han Yan fell silent, and the surroundings became still.

Because of Old Madam Tang’s identity as a descendant of the temple, the Han Family was destined to be unwelcome in the Holy Court, not to mention that even if the chance of revival existed, it would ultimately lead to a broken family.

”Actually, my Tang Family is not descended from the temple.” Old Madam Tang suddenly spoke.

”What?” Han Yan looked at her in surprise.

Though she had never seen the temple’s Big Handprint before today, from Old Madam Tang’s previous actions, it was evidently identical to Yue Ji’s, except it was not as powerful. If she was not descended from the temple, where did she learn the temple’s Big Handprint?

Moreover, as Han Yan knew, due to the differing laws between the Holy Court Continent and the Divine Continent, and the differing Heaven and Earth Power, ordinary cultivators find it difficult to use the temple’s secret technique.

It was unsurprising that Tian Annan could cultivate and use the temple’s secret technique. Upon ascending to Sword Saint, one undergoes rebirth, acquiring a constitution far different from ordinary people, and at that realm, comprehension of the Sword Dao is entirely different, naturally enabling the discovery of various secret techniques, breaking some of the law constraints.

”If you don’t believe it, you can see for yourself.” As Old Madam Tang spoke, she extended her hand.

Han Yan extended her hand and touched her meridian, using Divine Sense to investigate.

After a moment, Han Yan withdrew her hand.

Having spent so much time with Huayue and others, Han Yan had long discovered that while Huayue’s meridians appeared similar to others, a closer inspection revealed subtle differences. On the other hand, Old Madam Tang’s meridians showed no resemblance to Huayue’s, being just like a cultivator from the Holy Court Continent.

Han Yan remained silent, suddenly realizing a question: if she could notice this, how could the Holy Court not? Though her Sixth-level Sword Master ability seemed formidable to an average person, it was still far from matching the true Holy Court experts.

Could the demise of the Han and Tang Families be more complex?

”If my guess is correct, the extinction of the Han and Tang Families originated from this jade pendant, or to say, from the treasure hidden within it.” As if reading the confusion in Han Yan’s heart, Old Madam Tang slowly explained.

”The Han and Tang Families were originally long-standing associated families. Thousands of years ago, the Han ancestors and Tang ancestors adventured together, accidentally entering an Ancient Relic that housed many treasures and secret manuals.

Due to the passage of time, many treasures and secret manuals were damaged and incomplete, but one Ancient Treasure indeed remained remarkably intact.

The two guessed that this Ancient Treasure was extraordinary, so they stayed to study it. It took ten whole years before they left the relic.

Afterwards, through the treasures and secrets brought from the relic, the Han Family gradually flourished, becoming the renowned Tianji Family across the continent.

Meanwhile, our Tang Family adopted a low profile and sought no competition, retreating to a small town, establishing family rules: no Tang descendants shall cultivate or engage in secular conflicts, seeking only generational peace and stability.” Tang Wanfang continued.

”Is that so? Why have I never heard of it?” Han Jinglun gazed at his wife and asked puzzled.

”I wasn’t aware either, until the Han Family faced calamity, when I took Yan’er back to my parental home, father disclosed it to me.

I think father had already foreseen disaster approaching. He told me that when the two ancestors examined the relic for ten years, the Han ancestor likely gained nothing, thereby focusing on reviving the Han Family, establishing it as the renowned Tianji Family. Though cautious, he couldn’t foresee his endeavor would bring devastation to the Han Family.

Our Tang ancestor realized some insights. According to his final words, his insights were minuscule compared to the secrets hidden by the Ancient Treasure, estimated at only one or two percent, or thousandths, but if spread, it would spell extinction for the Tang Family. Our Tang ancestor thus lived in perpetual dread and established those strict family rules as precaution.

But there are no secrets under heaven, he knew eventually a hint of this secret would leak, so he left another directive: if the Tang Family were to face calamity, pass the cultivation technique he left to descendants, hoping to preserve a single trace of the Tang lineage.

Regrettably, no one escaped except me.” At the conclusion, Tang Wanfang sighed heavily.

The Yan’er she mentioned was Han Jinglun’s son, also the father of Tang Bufan. Shortly after Tang Bufan was born, he died of illness, which upon discussing, led Han Jinglun to shed many tears. Fortuitously, with Tang Bufan, the Han lineage did not end, providing him some solace in old age.

”As it turns out, the calamity of extinction for the Han and Tang Families harbored such secrets.” Han Yan sighed as well.

Upon hearing this, she vaguely understood the Holy Court eliminated the Han and Tang Families, not due to Han Family’s immense power disrupting continental peace, nor due to the Tang Family colluding with the temple, but purely to prevent the secrets of the Ancient Relics from spreading out.

Though no one knows precisely what the Ancient Treasure from the relic is, given the Holy Court cultivators’ inherent ability to cultivate temple secret techniques, if this news spreads, untold strong beings might pursue it, even those transcendent Holy-grade masters secluded from the world might come forth.

With their ability, should they easily learn temple secret techniques, even the Holy Court might be uncontrollable. How could they permit such a situation?

Considering this, Han Yan found herself growing to loathe the Holy Court. Though the peace of the Mainland Countries today is undoubtedly owing to the Holy Court’s efforts, to eradicate two families indifferently was excessively ruthless.

Perhaps, it was just a misunderstanding? Han Yan thought of Ye Lanfeng, consoling herself with the thought.

Yet even if a misunderstanding, it was horribly overbearing. Reflecting on Ye Lanfeng, and then the Holy Court behind him, Han Yan felt a mix of complex emotions.
